They should just do all of the story arcs from Punisher Max. Slavers and Mother Russia especially.
The skull is also a direct copy of the first Punisher film. I highly doubt they're going to reuse that design carbon copy, and I hope they don't.
He looks great as Castle though.

Man when I heard the news I jized mah pants in Joy. I enjoyed him in Walking Dead and in Fury.

I'm expecting him to shine in one or two episodes midseason then leave like Stick did. His own show will then be announced two weeks afterwards like DDS2 was.

Would be amazing in a Punisher spin off, but I'm not sure Marvel is willing to go... That dark. Utter bleak blackness.
Why not? DD was just the beggining and being in Netflix they can do that easily.

Daredevil on his worst day is much lighter and palatable then Punisher on his best day. There are some topics I don't see Marvel approaching. Mother Russia, maybe, but it'd be radically different due to the ages of the people involved. Zakharov would be too old if he retained his Cold War history.
Slavers is a phenomenal story, and I'd like to see it, but we'd probably get a neutered version if anything.
It's not about Netflix, it's Marvel. They'll go dark, but I don't see them going... Super dark.
I'm hoping they redo Welcome Back Frank the right way, with real ass Russian, and Ma Gnucci.
I wanna see Polar Bears get punched in the face.
I'd love a proper welcome back Frank, but it might be a bit too goofy for what they are going with on Netflix.

I don't know anything about Mother Russia but could you tie that into the Russians from season 1? A relative or friends coming to see how the Russians in s1 died?

Berenthal is a grimey, mean lookin dude. Definitely fits.
Mother Russia is about the Punisher parachuting into Russia and assaulting a nuclear missile silo.
It's like the last 30 minutes of the movie Commando spread over 6 issues of awesome.
Current Brock Lesnar should be the Russian.

And honestly? I'm not a huge fan of Ennis' run. Some great storylines that it would be good for them to borrow, but I just never liked his actual writing that much.
I expect this to follow more of the War Journal type stuff- dark, but still "light" enough.
For the record, there's a whole part in Season 1 about
Daredevil hearing a father repeatedly molest his daughter and then hearing her muffled sobs after the act, and then beating the ever loving shit out of the father so he'd never do it again.
I meaaaan... that's pretty dark.

That's perfect casting there.
It was a shit adaptation, that had none of the goofy charm of the Ennis run.
I mean where was this...
Instead we got Frank being a trap master for two hours.
If they can do that I'm sure they can show Frank
Throwing a female sex trafficker at a window until she dies.
That scene would take some serious balls to film, I'd love them to death if they did it, if only to watch the reaction on the internet.

I know this has probably been said a million times already, but Ennis's run on Punisher is must-read by anyone's standards. My favorite run on any comic ever. Better than Preacher even.
He was born to write that character. Both his Marvel Knights run and his MAX run are legendary.
He's back writing for Marvel again for Secret Wars. Maybe, just maybe, they can get him to do another go at Frank post Secret Wars.
Let's not get carried away, but it infuriates me that the run isn't on MU

Punisher MAX is amazing yeah. One of the best long Marvel runs.
I wish I could comment on Marvel Knights post WBF, but it's so hard to get those trades at a decent price. It's the #1 on my wish list. I hope the Punisher hype pushes Marvel to reprint all of Ennis' Punisher stuff.
Welcome Back, Frank though... is probably my favorite Punisher story. Classic.
I remember fanboys getting salty after the Spider-Man, and Wolverine issues.

this is true. I've just recently re-read the entire run and it's just pure fun from start to finish. the Jason Aaron/Steve Dillon follow-up is also damn good
