Dunno if he's the biggest, given the Netflix shows alone have D'onofrio, Dawson, and a Doctor.

But still pretty big.

A huge actor? What? I'm clearly missing something about this guy's career, especially in relation to a lot of the other folks cast in this universe so far.

Bernthal has been trying to make it big as a movie star; Fury, Wolf of Wall Street, and soon Sicario have all implied he doesn't want to return to TV. That's what's shocking about this to me,

There are just some roles people are willing to take. Marvel may already be whispering the sweet nothings in his ears of taking Frank Castle much larger

It's Marvel. He's probably got a movie appearance in his contract. I'd bet that they all do.

I really can't imagine better casting for this. There might be someone better at a higher level (I've never given it much thought), but of all the people within the reach of Netflix, this is a score.

Charlie Cox has confirmed it's in his contract, which doesn't confirm that for everybody on a Marvel Netflix show, but it would suggest that such an arrangement isn't impossible.

Besides, any Marvel live-action role virtually guarantees a level of global exposure that a hungry actor like Bernthal would be crazy to pass up.

"Thanks for the love yall. Let's get it. Honored." - Jon Bernthal.

So is it confirmed that we are getting the welcome back Frank version of the punisher??

I certainly hope they are. I'd love a Punisher show or a new movie.

Or both. A new show that transitions into a movie...

Actually, let's keep it as a show. Better chance of it surviving longer that way...

As much as Id love another shot at a movie I do think now that Netflix is in the TV show market now and are willing to go for that Harder rating Punisher really is an ideal fit there

He was born to write that character. Both his Marvel Knights run and his MAX run are legendary.

He's back writing for Marvel again for Secret Wars. Maybe, just maybe, they can get him to do another go at Frank post Secret Wars.

Ennis is doing another Punisher series. Mostly focused on Vietnam I believe.

In an interview with ABC News, Jon Bernthal couldn't contain his excitement about his upcoming role as the Punisher in Marvel's "Daredevil" Netflix series.

"Oh man, it's just a huge honor to play the part and that's all I can say about that," he shared. "I'm very thrilled and we haven't started yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it."

Bernthal was cast as the character last week, but this is the first time he has spoken publicly about the role. Marvel Television's official description of the Punisher calls the character "a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results."

Bernthal played Shane Walsh on the first two seasons of "The Walking Dead," and has appeared on the big screen in "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Fury."

The second season of "Daredevil" is set to debut in 2016. Charlie Cox and Rosario Dawson will both return, as the title character and Claire Temple, respectively. Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who both worked on the first season, will take over as showrunners from Steven DeKnight.

He is very thrilled.

So far we have Elektra and The Punisher, damn season 2 is stacked! This guy looks like a criminal. I wonder how he looks with a beard.

Place your bets, Marvelites. When Daredevil returns for its second season on Netflix, the streets of Hell’s Kitchen will quickly become an arena for The Man Without Fear and The Punisher.

New reports claim that Daredevil and The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) will lock horn heads throughout Daredevil Season Two. Marvel’s biggest vigilantes will grapple each other’s throats so fiercely, that most see Frank Castle as one of Season Two’s larger antagonists. And according to a anonymous source with Nerdist, Daredevil’s new co-showrunner Marco Ramirez has labeled the upcoming season as “Daredevil Vs. Punisher.” If Daredevil were around, he’d probably get a splitting headache from the cacophony of fans’ hearts exploding in their chests.

This was mentioned earlier the thread, but man...next year we're getting Batman vs Superman, Captain America vs. Iron Man, and Daredevil vs. The Punisher.

Awesome.
