Man, he's appologized for using the n-word.

And while I'm using today for looking at myself under harsh light, I think it's time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews…It started as an attempt to not let the waves of criticism get to me, but it's gotten out of hand and I've created somewhat of a monster.

I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don't have the stomach for it.

Again, because I don't want anyone to think I'm equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again.

Geez.

Edit: Someone just pointed this to me, Perez Hilton is such a FUCKING DOUCHENOZZLE.

He's raging at Mayer for trying to make a point, when he pulled that bullshit of calling WillIAm a fa**ot during their altercation.

PLAYBOY: Because you’re very?

MAYER: Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’"

PLAYBOY: It is true; a lot of rappers love you. You recorded with Common and Kanye West, played live with Jay-Z.

MAYER: What is being black? It’s making the most of your life, not taking a single moment for granted. Taking something that’s seen as a struggle and making it work for you, or you’ll die inside. Not to say that my struggle is like the collective struggle of black America. But maybe my struggle is similar to one black dude’s.
lol, how could he not think people would be upset over this?

Everything about the interview seemed carefully manufactured and intentional, even down to that gaffe. I bet he even wrote the apology before the interview to make sure it worked well enough.

Him telling Miley to stick $10K in a shoebox and burry it comes across as one of the most badass things ever, and I'm not even quite sure why.:lol

Oh i wasn't referring to you, i was talking in general. Hes made himself out to be a hypocrite and is quite an ass, so it makes me wonder why anyone would listen to him

yeah, but most smart people understand what he means. stupid people will find a reason to argue no matter what.

I'm guessing most smart people would have stopped reading long, long before they reached the nigger comment.

Heavily contrived interview. He probably sits in bed at night thinking of answers to potential questions so he can have this 'insight'. I don't know if there's any real honesty in an answer if you carefully create and script it.
But it being in print (and on the internet) probably gives him some more material to jerk off to at night.

why? it was a funny interview.
and people see the word nigger, but they don't read the words that come before and after.

but that's great. this way stupid people have something to do in the daytime.

People love to point fingers if it makes their more subtle racism look better in comparison to a guy who says the N-word. I bet most people offended by that didn't even understand what he was saying.

I enjoyed the interview. I don't know what to think about Mayer, but it was a good read.

He's funny sometimes, too bad his music is douchey.

true. i guess he's trying to make some american evergreens (and succeeding in it)

but his real talent is making his guitar sound fucking good. amazing sound. his style needs to become more of his own and less that of others (SRV..), but he sure knows how to play it.

next up: the motherfucking Jonas brothers :lol .

yeah, i guess he would understand how much fun and different it was if he actually played it.
It's nothing like playing a guitar, but a lot of fun. Kinda ignorant of him.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are a hell of a lot of fun, but they don't compare to the real thing.

yeah, that's what i said. or do you mean real playing is much better/ more fun?

i'd agree.. but that's personal/subjectieve.

i don't think many people will actually think it's like real guitar playing.
But it's a nice way to introduce people to the world of guitar. I know some people that started playing the guitar because of guitar hero. they wanted to leaqrn the real thing.
They still play GH though.

Exactly right. They are a lot of fun, and that's the whole point. Yet John Mayer thinks it's a terrible thing for people to have fun pretending that they can play guitar. Didn't he just say in his interview that he enjoys pretending he's fucking women and letting his imagination make up different scenarios to masturbate to? Yeah, really smart guy right there. :lol

LATIN, MATRIPEDICABUS, DO YOU SPEAK IT
Mayer breaks down on-stage, "quits the media":

The Grammy winner, whose Twitter page is at this moment largely occupied by a detailed apology for using the N-word during his already graphically informative sit-down for Playboy's March issue, broke down Wednesday during the "Gravity" portion of his show in Nashville.

Near the end of the concert, he stopped playing, apologizing to his bandmates for the interruption. "I quit the media game. I'm out. I'm done," a choked-up Mayer told the audience at the Sommet Center, according to exclusive footage obtained by E! News. "I just want to play my guitar." Then, after a lengthy pause, he returned to his guitar solo.

His onstage sentiment resembled his last tweet from the day: "I just wanted to play the guitar for people. Everything else just sort of popped up and I improvised, and kept doubling down on it..."

As he had just reminded Twitter user adilla: "They don't make rehab centers for being an a-hole."

Why does Gaf love this dude? He seems like such a douchebag. Just the look of him, and now that he's opening his mouth he's reinforcing the image.

it's rare to come across someone who at 32, with a life supposedly rich in experience, is so obviously missing the point of everything going on around him, is so emotionally crippled, immature, ignorant, insecure and obnoxious all at the same time. maybe he is the poster child of the current generation. and maybe putting it on display isn't such a bad thing. and maybe it shouldn't baffle me so much that he's seemingly celebrated here for his verbal diarrhea, his fake sincerity and his oh so edgy (dumb and inane) "insights". i'm not offended by anything he said, but i'd be lying if i said it didn't make me feel embarrassed on some level - for him, for his friends and family, for myself somehow.
