Jonathan Blow doesn't read contracts carefully.

Lol fucking twitter! Some of our stupidest moments catalogued for ever more.

Edit: Off topic but man Braid is such a wonderful game. That soundtrack...

gaming has been around for 30 years or so. It's going to continue being around because people are going to keep making games.

Do you think the government is going to release some widespread virus that makes everyone hate games?

Seriously, just because something has been around for X amount of years doesn't mean it'll be there forever.

What's he done?

I remember him publicly having some issues with submission guidelines, but they didn't seem vicious or anything.

accused them of lying when they were touting the 300,000 servers thing (claiming that virtual servers aren't real servers), repeatedly said they have a culture of treating developers like shit

i'm keen to not say that his comments have a strong effect outside of internet communities, but blow is absolutely at least partially responsible for the general consensus that MS is bad for indie developers, which carries a lot of weight among enthusiasts

Hey look a human made a mistake, lets rake his ass over the coals because we're bored instead of showing a bit of empathy!

Empathy for what? He could have just contacted someone at MS but instead he had to be a douche bag and start a whole "look at how terrible MS is" thing on twitter, even threatening to pull the game off of XBLA, only to find out that this price drop happened over 3 years ago and he probably agreed to it. He deserves to be called out.

Jonathan Blow everyone

I look forward to checking out The Witness on my PS4, but it's hardly E3 announcement worthy -- maybe in a montage with other indies. Nor is it a system seller. Subjective I guess, but I don't see this game having a huge impact on mindshare. I mean it's coming out on PC and iOS even..
The Witness and Transistor are reasons some if my friends are going PS4 along with other things. If MS could get both of those, and maybe a choice couple of other games (Hyper Light Drifter) it would have been a decent cout on terms of E3 announcements.

Jonathon Blow is a silly feller.

lol

excellent specimen, this one

Love the title change. Braid was a good game no doubt. Blow is just a phenomenally huge drama queen. Those tweets make him look like an idiot. I guess he wants people to realize how bizarre he is?

Had no desire to play his new game before this anyway

He also relatively quickly tweeted he had made a mistake. I am sure no one here has posted or blurted something out that was a complete blunder.

Hyper light drifter is confirmed for X1. Just pointing that out, I completely agree with you.

That's pretty much my situation. I thought MS pushed his game well, I could be wrong though.

Microsoft has a vested interest in all games sold their doing well too.

Don't think they were just advertising it to help their ol' pal Johnny B out, they're in it for the money too.

MS already has Hyper Light Drifter.

Personally I'd rather play Below and Super Time Force than either Transistor or The Witness, but I'm happy I own both systems and don't need to make the choice. I do feel like we're getting close to the point where neither publisher has a huge indie advantage to the extent that it would sway a console decision.

Thinking that MS secretly changed the price without his permission was a mistake. An understandable and easily corrected mistake. No harm, no foul.

Telling the world that MS secretly changed the price without his permission was not a mistake. It was intentional. Even if he had been right, he would still have been wrong to say that without verifying first.

The worst thing that there are indies that believed him when he said this going as far as to say "OMG LOOK AT THIS IM NEVER PUBLISHING MY GAME ON A MS PRODUCT" only to realize that they're misinformed/forgetful as he is

Twitter: Making another idiot out of another person.

My stepfather was an asshole, really mean guy. But he did impart one gem with me that I will take to my grave: "It's better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Jon Blow is a funny guy.

I appreciate his work but, like Mr. "Suck on my dick, choke on it", he probably should put a little more thought into his online posts.

Twitter is awesome.

You should be able to laugh at yourself whenever you mess up like this. It's not serious. It's funny.

i don't think there are any indies who have said that in reaction to this tweet

Impulsive? yes. A poor reader of legal documents? Yes. A covert console detractor? Stretching. An idiot? That's just being a little snide and offensive. Was it smart? No but that doesn't make someone an idiot.

If I was semi-famous, I would set up some sort of 12 hour delay between me making my tweets and them going up, which the possibility of deleting them before then.
