Jurassic Park 3D |OT| It's a UNIX system! I know this!

I took my 9 year old sister to see this. She was bored in the beginning a little, I think seeing dinosaurs in a movie isn't quite as exciting as it was, so the beginning is slow, but by the Trex scene she was pissing her pants with the appropriate level of fear. I loved it and she ended up loving the movie. I forgot how great this movie is. I very much enjoyed seeing it again though the 3d wasn't necessary.

I remember a few years ago I was staying with a friend who had never seen the movie. When the Raptor scene came up he jumped straight from the floor to the bed! Loved the movie and definitely fueled my early fascination for monsters.

Saw it yesterday. My opinion of the film remains more or less the same (middle of the pack Spielberg), but John Williams' score is much, much better than I had remembered.

Quebec City IMAX apparently had a deal with Jeep, so they had a 2014 Jurassic Park Wrangler on display:

Also, if you're a JP fan and want something JP for your desk/shelf, you should consider the Papo figures. They aren't official, but they look straight out of Jurassic Park:

Or, if you want something official, check out the Hasbro Jurassic Park 2013 toys:

Jurassic Park 3D is now available to buy on Blu Ray! That said, it is still playing in plenty of theaters, so if you're interested I recommend buying it that way.

Picking my version up this week as well.

It'll be the first 3D Blu-Ray I've owned. Hope its as good as the big screen!

Got my 3D bluray in from Amazon just now. if anyone is concerned about any shots Im willing to take screenshots

Could you take any good clean shots of the T-Rex breaking out of the woods to eat the Gallimimus? Thats on the top of my list (I want it as a background and Factory Entertainment can use it as paintjob reference), though I would love to get good clean shots of many of the iconic scenes.

So...if I buy the 3D bluray it's not viewable on a non-3D setup?

3D blu ray comes with 3D Disc, 2D Disc and even a DVD as well as a digital copy and an ultraviolet copy. Though the new master I think is only on 3D disc

will do

edit: oh, I'm guessing we're talking about non-3dtv owners wanting to see it. I'm not sure what happens if you put a 3d disc in while hooked up to a 2d only tv...
I'll let you guys know on Thursday... And then I'll probably be buying a 3D TV this weekend.

You can still see it at some places. Just probably not in IMAX.
Then what's the point of going to a theater? May as well watch it in the comfort of my own home.

You can run the 3D bluray in 2D mode or at the very least my PC hooked up to my TV lets me.

I use a 47" LG 3DTV as my computer/game console monitor

Yeah, sadly I think you need a 3Dtv to run it in 2D mode.. too bad the players can't filter it to 2D should you not have a 3D TV. Im just so bummed I can't own or watch the new transfer.

At least you can grab some caps!

Noticed with the cleaned up image you can actually see the wounds from the raptor attack that the old dvd versions etc were too blurry to really notice.

Thanks for posting! Feel free to post more, there aren't enough HD pics from JP.

Some absurd levels of DNR going on. Thank Christ it's not as noticeable in motion.

Yeah, its kinda crazy how noticeable the color grading and DNR is on the 3D Blu Ray compared to its 3D run.. While the image was grainless in theaters, it was still incredibly detailed.

Only heard about it being on Bluray yesterday, and YOINK! Bought straight away.
I'll have me 3D Bluray of JP tomorrow!

JP 3D on me Sony HMZ-T1 will be heavenly.
whoop whoop whoop!!

Bluray.com trashed the 3D version's video quality (DNRed to hell)..... not sure why you guys want it so badly in a 2D version.

Sounds like NONE of the released Bluray versions are up to snuff. Needs to be yet another version released struck directly from the 4K remaster.

I was hoping that the previous screengrabs were just compressed. Read blu-ray.com's review last night, what a shame.

While the 3D blu ray isn't perfect, it still has the new color grading, tweaked visuals and entirely remastered sound. Im not sure why the quality took such a DNRd dip given this is from the 4K scan, but Im not too optimistic about a better version coming out.

Because Universal slathers their Blus in DNR. Jurassic Park, Tremors, The Thing, etc. It kills me that The Thing is practically unmolested on the HD-DVD, but Uni had to go and fuck up the Blu.

Thanks!

Wow, the 3D conversion makes it look weird as hell in 2D.. it looks very sharp, processed and layered. Even so, if you can think of other iconic parts of the movie that we don't have good screens of, be sure to share em!

+1 Just saw it last night.

The edges of everyone and everything was so distracting. Anything motion blurred or defocused was lost, and tingled my eyes. Sharp edges, yes. However, when I was able to ignore it i loved it. Ended up watching it with a tissue over 1 eye.. under my glasses.

Enjoyed the movie, so well done.

Why the fuck did they let sam jackson go without a gun :(

Well, the first JP Blu Ray didn't have DNR so it is always available that way. The DNR was necessary for the 3D from my understanding.

Out of curiosity, are you speaking about the 3D Blu Ray or in theaters? I haven't seen the Blu Ray but didn't really have those issues in theaters.

Theaters.. the bushes foliage were hard on the peepers

I just finished watching it in 3D and it was god tier. I was disappointed with the terrible quality of the transfer in the bluray trilogy release. The remastered 3D version however looks amazing. It's a totally new film again. It just highlights what an incredible film it is.

Caught this today while on a business trip.

Was a great experience, seeing this in theaters again. I also thought the 3D was very well done and enjoyable.
