Recently watched JP on Blu Ray and man did it look and sound great! I was really impressed. Also, the new making of features that spans across all 3 discs was pretty awesome. Now to watch TLW and eventually JP///..

So with recent news about Spielberg not directing JP4 Im wondering what the future of the series will be. I really hope they can get a decent story and director to helm the new film, if it ever happens. I mean, heck in 2004 Hasbro had artists working on a JP4 toy line. It wouldn't be the first time this movie almost happens and then falls apart.

Also, speaking of JP toys.. New pics of the canceled 2011 dinosaurs have surfaced.

They may be highly stylized, but they are the best effort Hasbro has ever put into JP. Too bad they likely wont see release. =/

Nope, while the picture and sound were both great the movie still sucked.

The way they ruined the movie by using Stan Winstons beautiful creatures as a backdrop for their stupid family drama, and they had the nerves to kill the T-rex, stupid director choice.

Most of the CGI looked really weird compared to the first two movies, like a step down or something.

I so wanted to like this movie but I just can't, it's impossible.

And that both Sam Neil and Laura Dern signed on is beyond me.

This isn't a real Jurassic Park movie, it should be killed with fire.

For the fourth one to be watched by me the following needs to be in it.

• Night
• Rain
• A Ford Explorer
• Ripples in water
• T-rex
• The use of Stan Winstons creatures.

Very few of the special effects look dated and the dinosaurs look just as real today as they did back in 1993. It's amazing how poorly special effects went downhill after this movie. Too bad the sequels are garbage but I will watch them tonight just for fun.

same here, watched it last night and i have to say it truly holds up well. i felt the only time the special effects looks dated is the first time Grant and friends see the brachiosaurus.
everything else feels as believable today as 19 years ago in the theater when i was 10 :°°°

I had so many Jurassic Park toys growing up. The 'soft' feeling on some of the larger dinosaurs like the T-Rex was great.

I read Jurassic Park and the Lost World as well as a kid, both were great and really launched me into being a big Crichton fan.

And personally, I think Lost World the movie gets too harsh of a rap. It's not the classic the original movie is, but it's an entertaining movie.. especially for the audience is was seemingly aimed at. The third movie on the other hand (although maybe it was just my age by that time), but I care for nearly as much.

Jurassic Park 3 is a pretty dumb movie all things considered, and I agree that the CG looks off for most of the creatures, but there's no way you can say the same for the Pteranodons. I think I'm willing to flat out say that they are the most impressive CGI in the three movies by far.

So we are getting JP4?

Maybe. I'm still not 100% convinced. Sounds like the same old beating around the bush we've been getting for the past ten years to me.

It's hard to compare the T.rex's CG model to its practical counterpart in JP3 as it's not in the movie long enough, but it definitely looked off.

I think the idea of the jp3 trex was that it is a different breed of trex then the ones we saw in previous films. At least that's the canon explanation.

Just got out of a local re-screening of JP1 again and it held up really well. Feels good seeing it in theater for the first time it came out what, 20 or so years ago?

While not completely accurate in size, a young T.rex came grow to enormous sizes within 4 years. Their crazy growth spur starts around 11 years old.

Speaking of Jurassic Park dinosaur inaccuracies, there's one in particular that always kind of bugged me that no one really seems to notice. The Dilophosaurus head:

Would have taken Crash two seconds to reference the actual skull. I really don't see how you could miss the snaggletooth hook to its upper jaw.

Not anywhere near as egregious as some of the other examples (Velociraptors and Pteranodon in particular), but it just seems like an odd thing to ignore.

Its about knowing the limits of what your effects can do and shooting around that. Directors today feel you can film any shot, any angle, any lighting, anything and add cg or totally create a shot in cg. This is what leads to problems.

So, favorite Jurassic Park game? Most people growing up loved the Genesis one; it was a shooter, and you could play as a Raptor. But I had the Super NES original, and it was amazing. A 'large' open world, and plenty to explore. It was also insanely tough, had difficult to manage first person areas in doors, but that made it all the more scary and fun.

I played the Sega CD version of the game, which was basically a point and click adventure. Really entertaining when I was 12, but I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy it now. I also had the Game Boy version of the game, which was a port of the NES version. It shared some of the Super NES graphics, but was broken down into levels.
