If Trevorrow really wants to win us over, they'll slam IT'S THE MOTHAFUCKIN' T-REX onto the soundtrack when/if it goes down.
Yes please.

What could be the perfect location for the end fight tough?

The jungle? Naaaah, we had that in 3.

A building? Nah, that's so JP1.

If the woman really lures the Rex with the flames, it means it's night time. Maybe at some kind of facility? Rex will have a tough fight at first because I-Rex can change its colors. But then he somehow finds a way to beat him anyway. Because reasons.

For me it's one of the most logical forward-thinking concepts they could have went with. It takes elements mentioned in the novel that wasn't really touched on in the first movie and used that as a concept for this. As the second and third movie showed, just throwing people into the remnants of the island for another gotta get the fuck out of here sequel just doesn't work, or is at least not interesting at all. I sure as hell didn't want something like that again. Even if you don't enjoy this concept, it's more promising to me than that, and I'm not really sure whatever else they could do would be so much better.

So the first movie was about how Hammond dreamed big, but his execution was clumsy. The poisonous plants, the lack of locks on the jeeps, hiring Nedry because he's good likely without giving him a proper interview, etc. The park in the original was full of missteps. The idea here is that Jurassic World is supposed to be more elite and conceptualized than the first park. Bigger, safer... even Hammond mentioned that eventually there would be rides and this and that, implying that he would keep going further with his park. That's what I see this movie as, as it poses the question, what would happen if Jurassic Park were a success?

And it is, until their ideas become a bit too much, and with Indominus they're right back to making Hammond mistakes. Obviously they had their shit together with the rest of the park and attractions, but now this hesitance and uncertainty gets the better of them. They even ask Pratt to come in and check Indominus' paddock for vulnerabilities. The movie is pretty much about how far they can go until the ceiling collapses.
Thanks for explaining so well why I'm excited about the concept of this film.

Yeah, just rewatch the original and you can see the vision that Hammond talks about when he mentions expanding the park in the future, adding rides, merchandising, all that. He even calls the Dinos "living biological attractions". Sam Jackson's character also notes that they've got "all the problems of a major zoo combined with all the problems of a major theme park". But yeah, they executed poorly and that's why JP1 happened

If this film is a retreat than that's because it is supposed to happen. Eventually man becomes filled with hubris as Dr. Malcom told Wu in the first film and that the kind of control they think they have is impossible because Nature will continue to surprise them. The I-Rex will likely do something similar.

Yep. They learned from their mistakes... and then made new ones.

Like other people here, I'm very interested in the thematic core of the film, and that's not something that's going to be expressed well in a mass-market trailer.

Compared to the Star Wars trailer, I actually like this one more—not that it's a better trailer, or that the film will be better, but it's not just banking on nostalgia. The sequel has to do *something* interesting, otherwise what's the point?

It remains to be seen how good the actual film is, but at the very least there's dinosaurs to fall back on. If it engages on a mindless fun level, that's fine, it'll just be a missed opportunity to bring in more like the original.

I thought I heard the shark scene was just created for the trailer, but maybe not. The kids are already soaked in the shot where they're watching the underwater tank.

I assume the first shot is from late in the film when it appears the film will descend into a mass dinosaur melee.

I kinda loved the Spinosaurus in the trailer. And besides killing off the Rex, he was not that bad in the movie either. Just the rest was bad. The Kirbys, the mercenaries, the kid, the boy who stole the egg, the flying dinosaurs, the radio, the dream sequence with the raptor, the raptors and lets not forget the kirbys.

Dr. Grant returning alone got me to go see it. To be fair though, that trailer makes JP3 look much better than it actually was.

Jurassic Park III is fun and at least it's over quick. The raptor dream part is the most offensively stupid thing, yet somehow less offensive than Kelly flipping around on a conveniently placed bar before knocking the raptor out of the window because we should flop around just long enough for the raptor to attack my dad-something. I used to think The Lost World was better, but over time I've come to realize that there's about 40 more minutes of The Lost World full of shit that is just as dumb if not worse than that two second raptor dream.

Oh, don't get me wrong--I saw JP3 in the theatre. I was hyped for Sam Neill and all that.

I actually think I might like JP3 more than TLW, but that might just be because it's 30 minutes shorter, which is easier when you want to not think about anything you're seeing.

I still like the more bird-like design and behavior for the JP3 raptors and a bigger emphasis on their intelligence and group dynamics, even though they took it to stupid levels.

Same here. i just rewatched the trilogy recently and thought I remembered enjoying Lost World more than JP3. Boy was I mistaken.

Lost World is just atrocious. The acting is beyond terrible (nothing i've seen so far from Howard comes close to Julian Moore's atrocious character), Malcom tries to act too serious and his character comes apart. The entire cast is basically unlikable. At least Chris Pratt will be likable from what I've seen so far.

JP3, as you said is thankfully a quick film and Tea Leoni is the worst offender. But at least the films focus was just on action and they delivered.

Speaking of, I miss the epic movie trailer voice :D

watching that trailer made me realize how great that lunch scene was

they dont make scenes like this anymore. even though its a summer blockbuster, you see a legit discussion about ethics in videogame eehhh... creation.

The climax of The Lost World is so bad that once it gets to San Diego, it feels like a completely different movie. Almost like, barring certain spots, Spielberg was trying to make a legitimately good sequel before that but then something... happened. It goes from being a pretty typical adventure flick with some shit here and there to just full on shit.

Chris Pratt is The Raptor Whisperer

Other than that, which I find to be really dumb, this trailer is pretty sweet. I think we might have a good movie on our hands. In the very least it looks like it'll be fun.

Perfect example of a scene I hated as a kid, but truly appreciate as an adult.

Surely I'm not the only one that nerded out slightly seeing that the damn ankylosaur club got some action. Way past due.

edit: yeah the music was awesome but no shit

The San Diego part in TLW is stupid, I can admit that.

I always turn it off when they are on the chopper on their way to the mainland.

Between TLW and JP3 I honestly don't know which I consider to be the better film. They both have their faults and redeeming qualities, but I don't think one eclipses the other in my mind. That's why I'm not too worried about some questionable dialogue in Jurassic World. The movie almost has to be just as good if not better than the previous entries. I'm not going to compare it to the original, nothing is going to touch that movie for me. I'm comparing it to the awful, depressing sequels.

I have a weak spot for the Lost World. It's probably the only movie where I know most of the dialogue by heart. It's really not that great. But still memorable for me. I love how Malcom just stutters throughout the movie haha. I could watch Goldblum all day long.

I also didn't mind San Diego. Yes, it felt like a different movie but I still kinda believed it. It never offended me. It weas interesting to see how a Rex would react in such a strange place.

Even Vince Vaughn was alright in that movie.

"Well...who's hungry?"

TLW is also the first JP movie I saw in the theater with a female companion. It was great.

She grabbed my hand a couple of times.

I was 11.

Good times.

I love TLW right up until San Diego. But a part of me will always wish they had done a more faithful adaptation of the book.

They can fight on a Helipad just like jurassic park Warpath.

I don't care what anyone says, the Spinosaurus was awesome and it looks like the motherfuckin' T-Rex is going to make a glorious comeback.

The slide presentations are what really make the scene.
