Jurassic World Official Trailer

Man, 30 seconds into the trailer and the shit quality CG really sticks out, its too much and really bad quality for a movie of this pedigree.

Plot sounds cool though, hopefully it redeems the shit visuals.

CGI is incomplete. Movie is 7 months away.

I wish people would read the thread instead of posting "CGI looks bad" for the hundredth time -__-

(Ignoring the poor, and probably unfinished CG) I remember a similar reaction to the Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer. I'm not gonna judge this film off of a 2 minute trailer.

I don't understand the people who refuse to suspend their belief over certain things but do over others.

On an island where dinosaurs are being genetically modified and exist, is it really that hard to imagine a few raptors that work with humans?

Seems like one made for the kids. I personally think it looks terrible, but as much as I hate the focus on the child it's blatently obvious that it's aimed towards children. To be honest, JP has been a kiddie franchise since 2.

Not to mention that the film is still being edited and likely won't be fully edited for months still, and generally the effects team really buckle down once the shots that made the final cut have been locked down. This trailer was literally organized from a mess of footage into something that can still explain what the movie is about and what it's going to be like, but is not representative of the final cut.

In addition, trailers are known to have different takes of line deliveries from the final cut, so these lines people are complaining about may not even be in the final film or will differ to some degree. It's absolutely fine to criticize the lines and deliveries in the trailer as that's what people have to go on, but it's also not beyond reason to realize that most of this stuff could change or be a lot better in the final edit.

To be honest, JP has been a kiddie franchise since 2.

Really? Because I would say the exact opposite is true. The Lost World was much darker than the first one (literally).

I think this would make the most sense because when u see the claws in the trailer they're long like in this pic

Srsly a bigger t Rex is such a lazy visual for a hybrid I really hope its closer to the concept art stuff

You would think that they would have learned the first time that THERE IS A REASON WHY WE SHOULDN'T PLAY GOD & RE-CREATE A LONG FORGOTTEN SPECIES THAT CAN TEAR US APART.

Movie looks cool, and it's funny that one of the jeeps from the first movie is shown (briefly) in the trailer.

And it's not like they'd even have to capture and train wild raptors. All they'd have to do is make embryos, take the ones with X genes, use those to make a new generation of embryos, until you have docile or at least less aggressive raptors

That is concept art from an old, outdated, and abandoned version of Jurassic Park 4 when dino and human DNA was merged/spliced/science'd. There is no way the new dino looks like this.

I think that's where I would have personally drawn the line. For all intents and purposes the hybrid sounds and looks like the rest of the dinosaurs, just a made-up creation with some unique quirks and I don't think it goes against the story or themes. It doesn't seem out of line, at least not to me. But what those earlier visions were proposing didn't work for me. If they were doing that, I feel like I would be sounding like... most of this thread right now.

To me it feels like they found a happy medium. They didn't go too far and create something that bonkers, but they still dabbled in the idea by making a new dinosaur.

So, the trailer decides to drop early while I'm on a film set? Cruel and unusual.

I'm not sure why I bothered reading this whole thread- not liking it is fine, but some of the complaints presented as fact baffle me ('bad writing'). The trailer certainly relies too heavily on one liners, but those are nothing new to Jurassic Park ('hold on to your butts', 'they should all be destroyed', etc). I do think the trailer should have used different VO's for better dramatic effect, but nothing I heard seemed bad at all.

Yeah, the CG, it's a bit too much in this trailer. But did you see that park set? It's only a small portion of a huge practical set, and they built plenty more locations. As well as filmed on location for a lot of scenes. The scene that bothers me is the dinosaurs at the riverside.. why have a nearly completely CG environment? That feels off. Which is a shame, because it's a beautiful shot.

Anyways, I liked the trailer. Fucking Jurassic Park 4. Hyped as fuck. I agree it was cut a little awkwardly, and fizzled out. But nothing made me go 'oh man this is gonna be bad'. Do you guys even remember Jurassic Park 3?

The premise of this film is amazing, and it seems like we're going to get a fucking crazy Dinosaur movie. Some of the shots looked really promising, I really dug Bryce with the flair, and Chris saying 'Evacuate the park..'. Something about those felt grim. Same goes for Pratt and Bryce checking out the busted Gyrosphere.

However, where the hell were BD Wong, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan and Omar Sy in this trailer? Should have teased more relied less heavily on swooping CG centric shots.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's the Indominus Rex. Also, that CG looks particularly fantastic.

Voice of reason finally got his ass out of Hollywood to speak to the little people. :p

Yeah, I know I've gotten some shit for my faith in this movie, but as you said, it wasn't the best put together trailer. But the film has me hyped as fuck. And as a huge JP fan, I was one of the first big detractors.

^ Bryce's character is their aunt.

Have you read The Lost World Jurassic Park?
It's the abilities of the Carnotaurus

Bryce is their aunt explains a lot. And echoes more of the Hammond comparison.

Yea, IGN did a pretty good discussion on it I feel: http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/11/26/does-jurassic-world-need-genetically-modified-dinosaurs

yeah it s probably a raptor and a rex mix or something...
and sadly Pratt looks really stupid trying to be serious... and even though Bryce is beautiful and a very good actress she really needs to stop play the bad-women in every fucking movie... And on top of all that the fucking annoying kid from Iron Man 3
...

yeah lol reading the book as a teenager I was surprised with all the fucks every other sentence... Shame Steven had to have it pg-13 but yeah it was a lot darker and more violent... should have been more soo...

....then why put it in the trailer, as it EXACTLY implies he is riding with domesticated raptors.

This trailer is fucking weird. I've watched it like 10 times by now just to find out what feels "off", not sure if I can put my finger on it. Everything just looks "soulless", for lack of better term.

Whenever people say "the CGI is unfinished" about a trailer I go see the movie and the CGI still looks as bad as it did in the trailer.

I will have a good time with this movie anyway I think.

That last scene before the logo with the dino-purr got me super hyped. I slept on it and I'm still hyped, dunno what you lot are crying about!

I'm gunning for the raptor/bike scene to be all of them just booking it away from something savage, they didn't go for him because they lost their appetite runnning away because HOLY SHIT DEATH IS COMING! The gates sort of throw that out, unless it's just weird editing, I dunno I haven't been following the hype too close to have heard any story leaks or anything. Fingers crossed.

That's the wrong way to think of it.

Dogs are wolves that were domesticated thousands and thousands of years ago. That doesn't mean wolves can't form bonds with or be trained by people. It's more dangerous/unlikely, yes, but it happens and is possible.

Eh, seems pretty obvious to me that the raptors were released and were running alongside Pratt. That's what the edit would suggest and I don't think it's an accident.

It's a ineffective trailer and feels soulless because it seems like they purposefully left all the humanity out of it for some (poor) reason. They decided to focus on panning shots of the park for most of the trailer and spliced together dumb lines to make them sound dumber. I don't think this trailer will be indicative of the film because we're shown practically nothing, but the lines chosen to showcase were incredibly poor and lacked impact.

While I feel like this trailer fails spectacularly at introducing characters (because they practically don't, they just shove them into the screen), I think it's effective as a light teaser to show glimpses of what's coming. It's just unfortunate that the trailer focused entirely on the new engineered dinosaur. There's nothing in that premise alone to grab you and say "this is going to be amazing".

strafer you seem like a smart person so I have to ask, in what reality do you live in in which you believe that people are going to respond positively to something related to Star Wars?

It will be like this. A lot of negativity but you have people like you and I who... like stuff. So there will be some good reactions, and if some miracle happens maybe even the haters might be open to it. That being said, the teaser for VII won't show as much as this one did, it will by and large be an actual teaser unlike this trailer, so there won't be as much room for unfinished CGI shots and whatnot.

If it is generally a quality trailer more people will have positive reactions. It seems you are hiding behind the concept that you are of a select few who "like stuff", whatever that means, and cannot understand that to a ton of people this trailer screams mediocre. Now whether that means the movie will be mediocre or not is yet to be determined but it definitely does not help its perception.

I'm guessing that Pratt imprinted on them baby raptors. When he bursts out and they are all running/driving together, baby number 2 is like "yeah maaaa, let's go gettem!"

Some brighter versions of the raptors:

They're really sticking to the original JP design, though it looks like the one in the foreground has a long stripe.

I think these shots point out how rough some of the compositing is. Pratt feels out of place in the environment/around the raptors. Easily something they CAN improve before release, so hopefully they will.

Oh come on. We don't hate it because it's "cool" to hate, we actually think it looks bad.

The fake-ass lighting is the one creating the artificial feel for me. The trailer is full of them: the infamous gate scene, the god rays in the kayak river, and the bright moon rays in this one (talking about in the actual trailer, not your brightened images), not to mention Pratt is lit perfectly from the FRONT with a key light for some reason when the moon is shining from behind him. I don't know how they can fix those though. CG environments, especially organic ones, will look fake as hell.

That said, I still love that scene with Pratt and da girls.

and the star wars trailer will get nothing but praise..since that movie will be filled with even more CGI and green screens, blue screens and fuck all other screens.

Except Abrams is going out of his way to avoid using CGI as much as possible? Star Wars Episode VII is filled with puppets and practical creatures. Jurassic World is 100% cgi. No need to make up blatant lies to make a point...

We have already seen some:

Abrams is purposely going for practical creatures, they did not do that for Jurassic World.

Any good HD downloads of this that aren't riddled with youtubes compression?

Spoilers:
Chris Pratt injects himself with DinoDNA half way through. That's why the raptors don't attack
.

^That's not true at all, I assume he was joking.

Well, actually
if some leaked script is supposed to be believed, the geneticists of the park managed to tame the raptors like dogs, where Pratt's character is "pack leader", so to speak. That's why they don't attack. He's their "leader". There's supposed to be a scene in the beginning of the film where they are shown hunting in the jungles of the island together, similar to a hunter with a dog to catch fallen game IRL.

This isn't really accurate anymore.
It's a little less on the nose, and far less perfected. Think more of animals that can't be tamed, but that can be conditioned under very controlled instances.

I'm waiting for the all the clear to post a photoshop I made, showing off the closest Raptors color pattern. I based it off an animatronic pic I saw and promised not to share, hence the waiting. However, if you want an idea of the Raptor colors, go look at the leaked Lego pictures.

Mostly cgi, sorry. But if anyone has been following The Force Awakens they would know they are intentionally avoiding using CGI wherever possible. That is not the tactic being used by Jurassic World.

I hate this idea of a mutated T-Rex (or D-Rex as they have lovingly called it lol), its like they have to have something bigger and 'badder', they can't just go with the dino's we have already got.
It kind of changes the film for me into something different.

That's literally the rationale of the scientists that made the new dinosaur. The dinosaurs they had weren't attracting crowds and they needed something new and bigger for the park
