I REALLY hope the T-Rex "wrecks" this lab made hybrid bullshit dinosaur for the final scene. Maybe saving the day or something. That would be so awesome. LIFE FINDS A WAY!

...and Chris Pratt? Not sure if he can feel the "Dr. Grant" role. We'll see though.

EXCITED!!!

Guys the T-Rex is going to get bodied. That's how you know the D-Rex is more badass.

It's like you people haven't seen anything with powerlevels before.

believe it or not. my young self liked it. loved it. If he was already on very edge it will drop him.

Dude, dude, I got it!

Hybrid is all beaten up from fighting Pratt and his pack of raptors. It's about to stomp all over Pratt, as he sits crouched over one of his fallen raptors, all crying and screaming, telling the hybrid to "Finish it!"

Then, you hear the roar... and another!
A pack of T-Rexes appear out of the forests to show the hybrid what's what!

Oh man this was terrible. It's like they had to find a way to top the girl that locked the doors by using Unix in the first movie with one that could kick a raptor in the head by using gymnastics.

Genetically modified dinosaur as the villain...

Aren't all of them genetically modified anyway? That's the plot of the first freaking movie!

I'm having mixed feelings about this one, if they would've had the balls to throw feathers at least I would be more excited.

In the original movie they did use frog DNA to fill in the missing blanks, so yeah, the Dinosaurs were already genetically altered freaks of nature.

Hell, I'm gonna say it not only barely seemed better, it seemed worse even. Original is over 20 years old and had better CGI dinosaurs than this.

Well the original movie is a piece of art from a technical standpoint. But it only really does have about 6 minutes worth of CGI throughout the whole film and about 9 minutes of Stan Winston animatronics. It actually has more practical effects than it does optical. But since CGI was still such a new technology for the time it overshadowed everything else in the movie. But they had a lot more time to work over those short 6 minutes of film, and even pre-planned everything with claymation animatics just to get it all right. That CGI shot of the T-Rex taking a bite out of the tire of the Ford Explorer still looks pretty incredible, especially with all the detail they put into the weight of the objects.

These days there's a lot more CGI shots in movies and it usually makes up a good portion of the film. Even with far superior rendering farms to speed up the process, there's just a lot more scenes to fill with less pre-planing put into them. A lot of these shots are still just early rendered and placeholders though, which was already pointed out. This is not uncommon to see in trailers at all. It happens all the time that the trailer CGI looks unfinished compared to the final film.

I may be mistaken, but this looks like it was shot digitally. I feel like using actual "film" may have gone a long way into giving the movie a look more in line with the original films. I feel like film grain also helps unify the CGI and real world setting better. I also have no idea how to make films so maybe none of this makes sense.

Actually, Jurassic World is shot on 35mm and 65mm film. https://twitter.com/colintrevorrow/status/431295438356893696

However, I've checked the IMDB page and it says they also shot on a Red Epic and Red Dragon. I've seen technical information wrong on IMDB before but I wouldn't be surprised if this movie was shot on both film and digital.

I am excited to see the vision of an actual Park being fulfilled.

Rest we will have to see. What the modified dino looks like will effect my view on the overall movie.

The CGI looks godawful. 2014 and the original Jurassic Park still looks better.

Effects aren't done. Some shots may be. But marketing can't wait on the visual effects department. They still have to make trailers and advertise. I thought some of the shots looked great and some looked like they were still being worked on. It happens. The gate for example is confirmed to be practical and the CG placeholder was made for the teaser.

People complain about effects in teasers and even theatrical trailers all the time before the effects are even done. I get the whole "judging what I'm seeing" but surely it's more reasonable to wait on the final version's effects before jumping to conclusions. I agree some of the effects look rough, but I'm not about to judge it yet. I take in the whole trailer in a general sense and don't put the effects up to scrutiny as I know they're not all finished.

Not to mention Stan Winston Studios/ILM is working on the effects, and I'd say they have a pretty good track record.

Why does this need to take place in Panem? The poor CGI and near-future money shots are crazy distracting. Do we really need clear ball vehicles, absurd rail systems, and a floating fucking CGI gate? The original was largely engrossing because the fantastical dinos were loose in a believably modern setting with Jeeps, helicopters, and chain-smoking techs on normal PCs.

I'm also very wary of the hyper-inteligent 'we didn't listen' dino. Shoulda just had a PETA terrorist let a T-Rex loose in a modern Jurassic Park filled with interesting characters to escape/die by other dinos released from the ensuing madness.

Dude, they still have helicopters.
The rest is just the park taking place in a hypothetical near-future, so of course it's going to be high tech.

TERRIBLE on ALL FRONTS

- No Feathers
- Genetically modified Dino monster
- Shit acting
- Weak action(in trailer anyways)

urghhh, horrible

Reaction channels are insufferable.

Yep. Even as someone that likes what he's seeing, it's still obnoxious even though I like seeing people happy about stuff. Still annoying though. But it's like those unboxing videos where they just aim the camera at their cool new thing and talk about it and then five minutes later they finally open it and go "there it is" in the last fifteen seconds and end the video lol

Same here, when I saw TLW in the theaters I actually cheered when she did that, it was only years later I realised that this scene fucking sucks.

Only part in TLW I hate.

The San Diego part is fine. Doesn't bother me as much as Ms Raptor Kick.

I hate the San Diego part on so many levels and none of it has anything to do with the Rex being loose in the city. The problem wasn't the concept but the writing and execution. I would have been fine if it were modestly handled, but it really wasn't, and was definitely a low-point in Spielberg's career. The kid waking up and staring wide-eyed at the Rex, the horrible arguing parents going on about the fish tank light, the goofy screaming when they see the doghouse dangling out of its mouth, the shot of the 76 logo behind the Rex because we need to put something American in the background, David Koepp running around like an idiot, the Japanese people Godzilla joke which I can't even articulate how offensively stupid that is alone, and Arliss Howard venturing down into the ship calmly saying "are you there?"

None of that rang true for me. It felt like a completely different movie. I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but that entire scenario was a joke. It could have been really awesome if Koepp and Spielberg weren't trying to make a comedy out of it. I realize some are going to read this and wonder why I'm okay with things in the Jurassic World trailer, but apart from the riding with the raptor pack bit which I have little to no context for at this point, I didn't personally find anything else to be bad. I don't count unfinished CG that I know is not finished therefore am not bothered by it.

I still remember my home town didn't get the original Jurassic Park because our theater was an old piece of crap that didn't have a DTS surround sound system. My friends would take trips with their parents to other cities and see it. Broke my heart.

The day I finally got to see it was an incredible day. I recall the adults thinking it was just.... ok.

I still fail to see, other than the unfinished VFX, what's so "horrible", "awful garbage", "worst thing I've ever seen", "vomit inducing" about the trailer.

This film is probably going to be loaded with fanservice. I'm assuming a major plot point will be them returning to Nedry's Jeep from JP1 and using the can of original Dino DNA for something. It also wouldn't surprise me if the baby T. Rex from JP2 shows up fully grown and saves the day by fighting the genetically engineered abomination Rex.

You know it's bad when even Spielberg regrets filming it.

Yeah, same here. I see cause for concern sure, but the sheer amount of hate this trailer is getting is baffling to me.

Don't get me wrong I don't think you're an idiot for liking it or whatever, that was just my impression of it. Unlike some people here I won't be condescending to your opinion of it. It can be fun if you just literally go with it and throw on your "I don't give a fuck" shades-- like how we may have to do with Pratt and the raptors, but I still think that could be an interesting idea if it's done well. That's what I'm waiting on. It could be potentially good or stupid, just like how the Rex being loose in the city could have been awesome with a better vision.

While the raptor thing may look and sound ridiculous, I'm hoping it's handled well nonetheless. If they explain the behavior and how/why it's happening in a plausible fashion, I'll be cool with it. The way I see this movie is that these people have gone bonkers with what they can do with genetics and money; the park has been a success for a decade so they may think they've nailed it and that everything is bulletproof which is why they're making dinosaurs that can camouflage themselves. If they can do something like that, perhaps they've created and conditioned these raptors to a certain degree that allows for a level of control/obedience.

What's to stop that gigantic sea Dinosaur from eating all the spectators and taking down the monorail?

It's huge but I don't think it would be able to take down that monorail, and I'm sure they have some kind of preventative measures enabled so that it can't or won't attack the audience. It could also be unaware of the spectators, especially since they're dangling sharks above it for food anyway. However we'll wait and see how they explain it. Generally aquatic things stay in the water.

THE SCHOOL CUT YOU FROM THE TEAM?!?

This. Nail on the head. The execution was horrible. It goes from this horror scenario (the boat crash, dead bodies and pieces of them, the ominous whirring of the ship cargo bay doors) and descends quickly into pure camp.

worst thing about the look of the film is the blue filter that's used. I know theyre going for a cool sci-fi future look but It looks so unnatural.

I was 8 when the movie came out, and even then I remember thinking this scene:

Was corny as fuck.

"That's obviously not a metaphor or anything"

I'm a huge fan of JP and this trailer looks awesome, I'm looking forward to the film immensely. None of you cynical bastards are going to bring me down!

Maybe if this was directed by Spielberg in his prime this premature excuse would make sense. Whether or not some adults will find both films mediocre doesn't warrant any sort of comparison yet.

I think you read me wrong. If some people found the original to be meh or whatever, they're likely to think the same or worse about this movie.

edit: to clarify, I think age obviously plays an important factor in things. Would I be a huge Star Wars fan if I were just seeing the originals today? I don't know. Same for Jurassic Park or Indiana Jones or things along those lines. These things are very much aimed at childlike wonder and excitement, and I believe that I saw some of those things at the right time. That's not to say that you can only love something if you experience it in a certain age window, but I definitely think it does make an impact on just how much you do like or dislike something.

I swear america, you'll buy into anything as long as it has the name of something else on it. Looks like a horror movie. "SHE ESCAPED." Looks bad.
I actually find comments like these insulting to some degree, like my intelligence is called into question or something. Can I not genuinely think it looks great?
