Why frog DNA? This has always been problem for me. This film take place several years in the future and if they know dinosaur like us than they would switch to bird dna by now

Because they needed an excuse to have them change sex and breed, obviously.

I love the movie, but it's pretty obvious why they did it.

They did try that at first but the dinosaurs became too intelligent so they switched to frogs :)

No feathers is weak IMO. They should leave the Raptors and T-Rex untouched, but bring in some new species to done the plumage. I know I am a broken record, but it's something I feel really strongly about, it and fits the theme of the first film.

That said, I am pumped for Jurassic World.

Uuuh, warning to everyone, this appears to spoil the design of the Indominus Rex.

Don't worry, that's all BS.

Interesting rough image/size comparison of a blue whale and the film's mosasaur from the 4ch link, with the shark as point of comparison. It's not really scientific but it was still interesting to see it roughly compared:

Looking it up, the largest Mosasaur was recorded at nearly 60 feet long, and the average blue whale is 70-90 feet long. So there are some liberties taken, chancing that there are larger mosasaurs out there than have been recorded.

I think the one variable in question here is the actual size of that shark. It could've been a young great white.

See, weirdly it's bigger than what extras heard from the 'trainer' when recording the scene, who said 60ft. Also, I believe the shark isn't officially a great white.. I heard they can't call it that due to their endangered status. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem super big.

All said and done, I'm fine with them increasing the size from the real thing.. though call me crazy, it seems way too big for the Lagoons size/depth, haha

Yeah, that article I posted earlier, a scientist said it would be almost impossible to launch itself up this high without a very very deep pool.

I was thinking of that theory about how they probably got Mosasaur DNA from a glacier, since they were studying in the Arctic now (Masrani) and it got me thinking:

What if there's ice far far under water or under the ice in the Arctic/Antarctica that's been there for 65 million years? And what if that ice has actual dinosaurs frozen in it. If we could get to that, we could see what real dinosaurs looked like.

Ridiculous I know, since we probably had total ice thaw a few times since dinosaurs existed, but still a fun theory I've been playing with.

I think the idea that they have dug out an especially deep pool for the Mosasaur is completely plausible, compared to all of the science fiction we readily except in these movies. Its a complete non-issue, inflated by people that want to criticize the production to boost their sense of superiority, without the sense to know where to focus such criticism.

And you can't really tell how deep it is. Like I told a detractor the other day, clear blue water can sometimes be misleading. At the local springs here it can look like 3 feet deep water, but there are warning signs for a reason. Some of that shallow looking water can be 25-30 foot deep drops.

Its the new "How could Bruce possibly get from the prison to Gotham in TDKR if they dont show the audience a travel montage?"

I thought the end of the trailer with the motorcycle was cheesy until I found out Pratt is going to be a raptor trainer in the film. That raptor/T. Rex hybrid will be awesome to see too

Also, I believe the shark isn't officially a great white.. I heard they can't call it that due to their endangered status.

Whatever they're gonna call it, it's definitely one from what I can tell. Great Whites have the small beady eyes, the white belly, and the overall shape is very signature. Very small chance it could be a mako shark, but their heads are usually much more pointed and thin. Seems like an oversight, choosing flashiness over practicality.

Whateva though, it's not remotely a big deal. It's a movie about prehistoric creatures anyway lol. I just wanted to make sure myself by looking at screencaps up close.

Yea this trailer was...ok. It just looks like more of the same, and I wish the raptors had feathers...they look better.

How about we imagine they made it deeper and probably even added tunnels to another facility. Not too far fetched.

Someone pointed out that great whites are endangered and protected in Costa Rica, so maybe they can't be great whites. :p

These people can clone dinosaurs. I'm sure a Great White is small potatoes for them.

Didn't think of that. I guess every known endangered species has been taken of in that world. It actually doesn't seem that farfetched. It'll have earned Masrani/inGEN a fair amount of good will too. All speculation of course, I will be surprised if any of this is explained.

I was actually a bit hyped for a new JP movie before I saw this trailer. The Dinos looked better in the original and the storyline looks stupid. Cloned superdinos? Really? Kind of takes away the Jurrassicness doesn't it?

I have another question, why do they design a dinosaur that turns invisible for people in an amusement park that wanna see something new in an amusement park?

Jurassic Park is about man taking knowledge and resources and creating things that cannot be controlled. Tampering with nature. The very idea of this movie is discussed in the original. The other dinosaurs are cloned too. There is only one new dinosaur and it mostly resembles a T-Rex but has other unique attributes. Nothing about this deviates terribly far from the original concept of the story.

Cow: Looks like the real deal and that definitely looks like those shadows that were crossing Ty's face.

Here is what I think they should have done:

Have the movie open with a montage of the park opening, people laughing and enjoying the sights, etc. Then, show it (in the same montage) falling apart through some terrorist attack or something, and everyone scattering into the jungle/dying.

Have the premise be that some sort of high-ranking official or someone of importance is on the island but trapped at a facility deep in the interior, and the one way to rescue them is on foot. The movie would follow a rag-tag group of commandos/mercs as they work their way into the jungle to save them. They would start off on ATVs but would eventually have to slog through the marshes/tall grass, etc. They would fight a few raptors, outsmart them, and then eventually take down a T-Rex or something. There would be no genetically-altered smart dinos, nor any tamed raptors. Just a bunch of manly men kicking ass Predator-style as they try to save whoever needs saving.

In the end I don't even care if they save the person, the movie isn't about that. It's more similar to Dredd in that it's just about the mission, not about the goal.

Okay, you know what, I don't really like it when people post "Read this long post on how the story should have been like" - especially when it's way, way before the movie comes out. But seriously, some kind of terrorist attack + mercs fighting their way onto the island to find a VIP, as opposed to "scientists fucked up, again!" is a genuinely awesome idea.

Dammit.

My opinion is that every movie can be improved by a sequel that re-works it to fit the Dredd formula.

I have another question, why do they design a dinosaur that turns invisible for people in an amusement park that wanna see something new in an amusement park?

It doesn't turn invisible, it can camouflage; two distinct differences. It's not like it has a invisible cloak for skin, but it can at the very least change color and produce patterns in its skin to match the environment.

Real cuttlefish can also manipulate its skin to create bumps and ridges to match kelp, coral, etc, and I wonder if the D-Rex will be able to do anything similar, maybe match the texture of rocks, etc. There's gotta be at least one moment where the D-Rex pops out of nowhere for the jump scare :P

Ok, if the rumors about scuttle fish dna being included, then the d-rex has the ability to blend into the environment, much like an octopus can. It wouldn't be able to turn invisible.

Watch, I bet there'll be a scene where the main characters are cornered by a T Rex and then D Rex ambushes the Rex

Dino fight! Yes, just like JP3

It better be more inspired than the one in JP3, because that scene was pure wankery. "Look, it killed a T-Rex! This is why our logo has a Spinosaur on it, because it's more badass!" Yuuuuuuuuuuuck

I bet this'll have more creature fights than Godzilla

But really, you don't have a dino that's bigger than a T Rex and not have it fight a T Rex

Although the idea that something that big can also be stealthy is pretty ridiculous

You know, after giving it a lot of thought I realized the trailer's pretty bad.

I mean, I'm really hyped for the movie because I already know what the trailer is showing, what the movie is gonna be about. But for someone whose only exposure to the movie is this trailer and only this trailer, yeah, it does an awful job.

How so, when plenty of people are excited about?
