Giving this a bump, since it was an end of a page post.

This is stupid and kind of awesome at the same time Chris Pratt better have a killer one liner in that scene.

That trailer left me... I don't know. On one hand? Another fully operational park mishap is what I've always wanted from another Jurassic Park movie. On the other? We have Chris Pratt
leading a pack of raptors...

Even in the leaked stuff, I would've been okay with the whole (contains leak spoilers not included in the trailer)
Chris Pratt has some level of communication with them, at least enough that they appeared to be tamed. But this is a whole other level.

Also, I didn't find the trailer to be that well cut. I honestly expected something better.

Nonetheless, I'll still be there day one.

Glad you're able to get a complete feel for the movie based solely off the trailer alone, nevermind the fact that the CGI isn't finished most likely. You get a gold star!

Man, please. Think through the shit you say.

Nobody is drawing permanent judgments. But, you watch a trailer to get interested in a movie, and then praise or criticize its direction based upon it. It's how we evaluate whether a movie might currently be worth seeing, or what we like or don't like outside of reviews. It is not saying the movie will end up bad necessarily, just that the trailer makes it LOOK bad.

He's saying if THIS movie came out in place of the first we would fucking love it. But no, based on this trailer - which is the only thing we have to judge on - we would not have, because it's filled with shit CG and comically hammy ridiculousness. Whether the final movie will be like that is a separate discussion together, because he has no way of knowing what the final movie will be like either.

at the emotional climax of the movie a raptor bro will sacrifice himself to save starlord, and as starlord weeps over his dying corpse, the raptor will look up and say "I know now why you cry" BOOM UNIVERSE CROSSOVER WITH TERMINATOR GENYSIS

Haha that's beautiful. Let's get some Robo-Raptors all up in this bitch.

The select lines chosen for this film were incredibly plain and downright bad as standalone dialogue. Like, they're actually a detriment to the trailer lol

Oh look. Comments about an unfinished movie being unfinished.
We do this every single time there's an early trailer for a CG heavy movie, folks.

Yup. GAF is pretty damn predictable when it comes to these kind of threads.

Who the hell cut this trailer?

Do they understand that the Jurassic Park theme is supposed to accompany scenes of majesty, wonder, and amazement? You're not supposed to use the theme with scenes of anarchy and devastation.

Also, the kids' mom is very hot. Where do I recognize her from?

why do the dinosaurs look so goddamn fake.. how is it possible they look worse the the previous films that are decades older?? these look like some made for TV CG dinos. fuck man, im so disappointed now.

It's simple... release a trailer 7 months before the movie comes out so that you can capitalize on Star Lord's popularity. It will look better when it releases.

The problem is you are basing it on the rest of the series. This is why so many are reacting negatively to the trailer
The general consensus for most is fair to say has been the JP series is one good film followed by two very forgettable below average sequels. This movie fitting with the last 2 is not a good thing.

The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 had problems and are underwhelming sequels, but not because of the raptors. I'm saying that the idea of the raptors being domesticated in this doesn't exactly go against anything about their intellect as presented and developed across the first film and the sequels. This isn't about the overall quality of the last two sequels. Huge difference from what I'm talking about.

I know this is such a stupid question that popped into my head when they mentioned that hybrid dinosaur, but did they focus test the dinosaur (in the world the movie is set in)? You know, like they often do for toys, movies or games? I just imagined the "powers that be" telling the scientists on what to create, like "Make him bigger, our focus tests said he should be as big as possible".

Why do people keep complaining about the gate shot? It looks more or less fine. Like, there's other more obvious stuff that seems sketchier, like the shark bait could have easily just been a physical shark prop on a crane, and then the dino jumping out of the water practically looked like a Pacific Rim monster with all kinds of undulating, overly animated CG parts.

The gate shot seemed perfectly fine. I don't know how you expect them to build a giant tram coming out of a forest opening onto a big body of water with a park/resort on the other side without using CG.

I don't get the obsession with the gate anyways. It was always more thematically "big" in the context of the first movie as this entrance and point of no return for the characters than it was an actual cool looking thing, for me. Just the way it was shot and presented was like "you are about to see something you've never seen before" and you can't go back when you go through. Which was something completely unique to that first movie and had more to do with the unknown amazingness beyond the gate than the actual gate itself. People obsessing over it in the third sequel to a series that has had one great movie is weird.

I swear, some of you guys seems like you had no childhood fantasies with dinosaurs and robots and shit, come on.

That has nothing to do with it.

It has everything to do with the fact that in the last three movies raptors were billed as amazingly intelligent murder machines that were basically the villains of the movie. The portrayal of raptors in the last 3 movies seemed to give the impression that they were simply too smart to actually be domesticated.

Shhhh. Let the sweet awesomesauce engulf you. Riding motorcycles with raptors... Super dinosaurs... And annoying kids. It's perfect.

No amount of CG can mask a lousy script with lousy dialogue. Maybe it will work better in the context of the full film, maybe not. Doesn't change the fact that it gives the impression of this film being dumb, dumb, dumb.

Took 1000 of years of human experimenting and it still doesn't work, some animals wiring prevent them from obeying, and some intrinsically feel they belong to communities and can be some-what controlled. But Raptos wtf?
Well...in the films raptors are highly intelligent right? "Smarter than dolphins, whales, they were smarter than primates" according to Allan Grant. And if they bond so well as implied as babies, why not?

Hybrid? Why? Whats the point? The mystery of bringing back what once was real makes sense, but making your own? Again why? What will we learn from that? Nature made what was necessary due to conditions and mutations....but why would you create a hybrid? My mind cant accept this, i cant.

Ruined the whole damn film. The whole point of the JP was to revive nature.
In the context of the movie and book, it makes perfect sense

In the book, the only reason they didn't play God and make new dinosaurs was because Hammond didn't want that. Wu was all for them testing their limits and making something new

And now Hammond's dead and Wu is running the research...

Plus, theme parks always go for bigger and better. In-universe, the park has been open for a decade. Dinosaurs aren't the draw they once were. So what else does a theme park that wants to draw in more people do? Make something bigger, better, more over the top to attract them

I think it makes a ton of sense

Eh, this seems to fall into the same trap Godzilla did. A movie just about the monsters. The characters are just there because they need people to run and scream. JP1 wasn't just about the dinos. The characters were just as memorable. It was an actual FILM, not just a big budget CG cutscene.

why do the dinosaurs look so goddamn fake.. how is it possible they look worse the the previous films that are decades older?? these look like some made for TV CG dinos. fuck man, im so disappointed now.

You know when a painter is just mixing up colors, maybe doing the preliminary outlines. Do you stand over his shoulder and say "That looks stupid man, I've seen way better paintings than that!"?

I'm so hyped the hate just washes over me like Rain-X.

Spielberg insisted on that for the film, but they compromised. Now they're just raptors trained by Pratt's character. Still five of them, probably still have the stupid names, but no "brain box" and no talking. They're just tame, to him only, like they think he's their pack leader.

He got his genetically engineered raptor in Indominus Rex.

This movie will redeem itself if one of the raptors is called Jesus.

Jurassic Park is probably one of my favorite movies ever and I even liked JP2 and even JP3 but I will admit that trailer looked pretty bad. And I'm not one to think like that. There are barely any movies I don't like, I liked Godzilla 2014. But man was everything that wasn't an actor in that CG? And really child protag?

I'm keeping myself cautious and expectations low. But I'll be happy to eat crow if this turns out even a fraction of surprisingly fun like GotG did. :)

To me it looks like a ton of fun. Not worried whether or not the digitally created monsters look "real enough". Great cast too!

I'm....not sure...if I want to see that, or not?

Trailer left me indecisive.

Star Lord riding with Raptors is stupid fun to me. I don't have a problem with it.

Like someone said, the problems with JP2 and 3 were more the stupid humans than dinosaurs. But of course that could also happen here too. Pratt's delivery of that "not a good idea" line was very flat. But they can always redo that as well (I've remembered lines that are delivered in trailers that sound nothing the same in the actual film in other movies)

Nice trailer.
I've been saying 'Not a good idea' since the part when the lady says they made a genetically new hybrid and then Pratt's character said the same thing I did.
