To the people saying the CG that was used in the first was better than this...come on.

Come on.

Yep.. A lot of people seem to be blinded by nostalgia. You obviously expect the CG to be a lot better in 2014, but it's no worse than some of the scenes in the original.

There's a ton of examples of bad trailers / great movies, hopefully this is a similar case.

You mean, like in zoos, where they invent new animals every 10 years?
We need to use Crichton rotating in his grave as a power source.

Dude, Zoos are terrible business.
Shit is only alive because they partially work as conservation efforts and thus get external funding from governments and charities.

Why another "grand opening of the park goes to shit because humans are too fucking dumb/arrogant" garbage plot AGAIN?? It's almost exactly like the first movie even down to those kids going to park like in the original, only difference is that this one seems to include a "lolz genetics is evil, humans playing god" wait, that was an underlying theme in JP, too.

Blah, terrible. Universal is desperate for big franchises, they don't WB or Disney's luxury of comicbook franchises so they are going to the morgue and are looking for corpses like JP. Sad.
Universal monsters will save them.

Ahh so that was Judy Greer, that explains a lot.......

How about no cellphone towers in the island?

Really? You think a modern park where everyone pulls out their mobile during the shows to make pictures wouldn't have the capability so that those tourists could send out their selfies and pics?
And let's say those towers/satellite connection is down in the story, surely some of the tourists being evacuated on those big ferries would get a connection?
Feels like it is very hard to come up with excuses of the main cast being alone when the park is fully operational and there are literally hundreds if not thousands of people in there/on their way in/out.

Hybrid Dinosaur is actually super clever and takes down the cellphone mast?

How profitable are Zoo's anyway? Aren't most zoo's publicly funded? Not owned by large corporations?

As someone else said, Jurassic Park is more like an amusement park than a Zoo, at least that's what a corporation would likely do to it.

Huge fan of the originals as a kid, so I just like the fact that this trailer finally exists.

I was digging it until the velociraptor buddies moment - those things were always the scariest to me and making them friendly will totally make me feel weird. Other than that, I'm up for more CGI dinos.

Nothing like sizing up a guy's entire career from three lines of dialogue in a trailer. lol.

Nah it's not just this. It's the decision to sign up for that awful sounding robot pirate ninja movie too and also the fact that I have yet to see him be serious in anything.

I dunno if I can buy this dude being taken seriously in any dramatic role. But then again who knows....Tom hanks was a goofball before Philadelphia etc.

Honestly, it truly baffles me that people can say the CG in the original films was better with a straight face.
I don't think the original had better CG technically but I think it was more convincing. I just watched the damn movie a couple weeks ago and I was impressed. The CG looked great and the practical effects didn't look out of place. It was less surreal and more grounded in reality. I can't really explain it but the animals were more convincing.

Humans playing god is THE central theme, why would they abandon it?

And it's not a grand opening gone awry, it's a park that is slowly losing visitors after 10 years. Kids are in every Jurassic Park movie, and only one movie actually took place in a dinosaur park.

I wonder if this is how people felt about Terminator 2 back in the day.

Exactly.

Chris Pratt already showing us he will never measure up to Harrison Ford

He's got Han Solo nailed for sure but lacks dat screen presence to pull off a more serious character, let alone dramatic roles in the future

I bet he's gonna be stuck with being the wisecrack guy in future films

But Harrison Ford is a terrible actor, period.

He's a grumpy old man who can't show any emotions.

I believe he will phone it in in the new Star Wars

Why does the CGI look less convincing than the effects in Jurassic Park?

WHY

Well instead of a studio culture where artists and with them their knowledge about animation and CG can grow (inside of a studio), all the VFX are outsourced to the lowest bidder, sometimes a dozen VFX houses work on a movie like this in parallel. Some of them might have read a book by Phil Tippet or Dennis Muren but some of them might not.
There is no direct knowledge transfer from the 1993 version to now so the argument about "but why does it look worse than 20 years ago" is mute.
The tech might have gotten better, but the artistry has to be learned over and over again.

The people (teens) this is for probably don't know the first one :/
So they don't give a shit.... Remember that last Indiana Jones?
I would hope that's not the case. My daughter, 6, knows the first one and s soon as she saw the logo at the end grabbed the BluRay set and asked to watch it.
Lol I can't stop laughing after reading that. It's hilariously insane. Just change the ne from Jurassic park to something else and this would be an awesome movie for sci-if channel.
You are right, if the name want Jurassic Park it would sound like a SyFy movie. Probably wouldn't watch it though.

And that is where my problem lies, it already sounds like a SyFy movie. I have little faith in this movie trying to fool me into thinking the science or reasons for things happening are possible. This just seems like it will be a monster movie.

CGI shit was awful, wtf at that great white and the vegetation, come on...
Also, raptor pets ? really ? goddamn guys !

Rest looked dope though :o

Yes-that wide range Harrison Ford is known for.

Most of the convincing CGI was actually real models/animatronics though. The actual CG shows it age pretty well.

The one trailer is obviously a rough cut/trailer CG, and I don't' think it will look quite as off with what, six-seven more months of post to go.

I'm already saving the quotes!!

Crow eating threads are the online version of screaming "I told you so" to a playground full of kids who don't give a shit.

Also, the GotG crow eating thread was about the film bombing or not matching up to the BO results of previous Marvel films. No one in this thread will argue (or has argued) that a new Jurassic Park film won't make a shitload of cash.

Again, the plot seems like the logical next step in the currently established Jurassic Park film universe. Dinosaurs arent "new" anymore. People have had 10 years to go and visit the Park and be wowed. But like all things, interest dies down and people move on to the next thing.

When you're a corporation that has likely sunk in Billions to keep this park operating functionally given how huge it is and all the tech and security needed, and your revenues start going down, what are you going to do? Gotta get the people back, and the best way to do that is to create new "attractions" (ie. new Dinos).

You can tell that the kid is going to be a terrible actor. It's likely why they didn't show him speaking any lines. They want to dish out the disappointment slowly.

Does nobody realise the extensive use of animatronics in Jurassic Park, that's why it looked it so good most of the time, not CGI.

I guess this sums up the pitch that happened in someone's office.
That was the point, it happens in real life and you can bet that poster isn't the only person that thinks like that.

Why another "grand opening of the park goes to shit because humans are too fucking dumb/arrogant" garbage plot AGAIN?? Except it's not a grand opening? The park has been running for over 10 years.

I feel people are grouping together to hate this movie. Bad CG? Hahahaha... come on. 8 months to go. Alot will change for the better.

I enjoyed the trailer. JP1 was gold, TLW was ok and JP3 was SHIT. How the fuck can you show a Rex getting killed anyway?

Ill see this, thats for sure. Cant judge an entire movie just by this 2:30 minutes. Looks enjoyable.. dont need a great plot. None of the JP movies had that.

I wonder if this is how people felt about Terminator 2 back in the day.

That's an apples to oranges comparison because CG was considered a cutting edge visual effect during the time T2 came out. Today, we're constantly inundated with CG where none would have existed two decades ago and many of us are understandably saddened to see the sequel to a film lauded for its' practical effects lean on so much CG.

Absolutely.

I don't think people should be able to get away with just being negative nancies all the time, and should be called out on their embarrassment.

If people don't like the film when they finally see it then why do you give a shit? Stop trying to prop yourself up with threads flaunting how right you are about something as subjective as film. Crow eating threads over subjective things like opinions on a film's quality is little more than an exercise in loudly declaring your confirmation bias.

its not that wide a range but is already broader than what I think Pratt is capable of. Do you really see him pulling off regarding Henry, the witness or even some Jack Ryan movies?

Or what if he played the president, ppl would laugh

If Harrison Ford played the President at 35 people would have laughed too.
