Jurassic World Official Trailer

Just watched the first real trailer and wow this looks bad. The cg looks like something from a made for TV movie from 2005. I mean seriously wtf??? Looks awful.

So the kids are running from something one shot with that huge crowd, but another few shots (the helmet, the kid hiding from BaddyRex, jumping into the river) make it look like another day since they're wearing different clothes. So I'm assuming they get lost in the park and someone (Pratt obviously) needs to find them, assuming they know the kids are missing.

But the scene with them all running from something while the park is full might mean something else happens? Something on another day?

I'm not super excited by the trailer, but I do think that they have the opportunity to believably justify the whole raptor pack thing. JP has always gone on and on about how much smarter raptors are than other dinosaurs and their social/pack dynamic, so if they present it similar to something like a pack of wolves or pride of lions that Pratt's raised and trained from birth, it's not totally joke worthy. There's plenty of documentation of people working themselves into animals' social structures.

On the other hand, the other selling point with raptors has always been how straight up murderous they are, so who knows.

looked pretty terrible. dinos looked bad, and pratt did not convince as a serious lead. of course the writing did not do him any favours, particularly that "depends on what kind of a dinosaur they cooked up in that lab" bit was clunky as hell when you expected something snappy.

Velociraptor is believed to have been an intelligent pack hunter. Who ever heard of humans taming an animal like that?

So who is leaning into what here?

Weren't dogs ancestors (wolves) essentially highly intelligent pack hunters? That turned out alright.

Intelligent animals have historically had the acumen to realize that siding with man, a smarter animal that can provide it with things it can't acquire on its own, has it's benefits. I imagine in captivity this would prove even more beneficial to the animal and hence, be more easily attainable.

Also, real life velociraptors were the size of a turkey and dumb as a box of rocks, so... you're already suspending some disbelief to ascribe them the characteristic of intelligence. Just... turn it down a bit and give them the ability to be domesticated as well.

The first scripts from JP4 had them mixing raptor and human DNA, won't be surprised to this be a twist in JW.

The worst idea in the long, sad history of bad ideas.

That original script was pretty insane and amazing lol

In 2006, Bill Monahan and John Sayles wrote a script for "Jurassic Park 4". The dinosaurs have spread through the world and a drug cartel in Mexico has captured and tamed a group of Velociraptors and Tyrannosaurus Rex, which are used as enforcers.

Mercenary Nick Harris is hired by John Hammond, whose company has been taken over by Grendel Industries, run by Baron Von Drax, to infiltrate Isla Nublar and retrieve the DNA samples stolen by Dennis Nedry, which Hammond intends to use to create a new batch of asexual dinosaurs that can slay the existing dinosaurs and rectify Hammond's mistake.

In the island, Nick is ambushed by Excavaraptors and rescued by mercenaries hired by Grendel Industries, who capture and transport him to a secret research center in the Swiss Alps, where Nick meets Dr. Adrian Joyce, a brilliant geneticist who has created five hybrids with traces of human DNA, dog DNA and dinosaur DNA. The hybrids have been commissioned by the United States government as black ops operatives, and, due to his extensive military background, Nick has been selected to train and lead them.

The Hybrids are named Achilles, Hector, Perseus, Orestes and Spartacus, and can speak, wield guns and operate advanced suits of armor. Nick then leads them in battle against Mexican drug cartels and their dinosaur enforcers, who had taken an entire small town hostage and threatened to kill its inhabitants if the United Nations don't answer to their demands.

I almost feel sad that instead of Chris Pratt leading regular trained raptor bros into battle we could've had Chris Pratt leading trained Teenage Mutant Black Ops Iron Man Raptor bros into battle against the drug cartel and their dino enforcers

Ah, they made it into a dumbass stupid movie.
Will wait for a decent movie about dinosaurs.

That last scene... Some weird people get to make decisions in the moviebusiness....

Edit: well, i might watch it.. My son loves dinos

that sounds absolutely bonkers someone make this movie

Music: godtier
Plot: Meh to wat
Acting: Fantastic (though nothing from the kids)

It was a very well produced trailer and It did pull me in pretty fast, even when one of the running plots seem to surround two kids out there on their own. The other, primary plot, sounds good, though there are questions as to how something like that could logically happen after it appears that the new owners know what they are doing in making the park safe for visitors.

That ending though. JP3 was serviceable because it took all of the good parts stripped out of 1 and 2 and made them into a movie. The plot was dumb and the ending was also really wtf, but they really stepped that up this time around. Raptors and Chris Pratt working together? While cool, this has to be the most bat shit insane thing they've done yet. You just have to roll your eyes at how absurd it comes off. Might as well have Godzuki come in to help while you're at it.

I agree with a lot of people who don't like that trailer. I actually heard about the mutant dinosaur stuff a few months back when that info was leaked, and I totally forgot about it until I was watching this trailer just now and it was like, oh yeah, this movie actually sounds pretty bad.

If the trailer was cool that might not have mattered, but it was a pretty awkward and boring trailer. Looks like they're taking the thing in a direction which doesn't really stir much excitement in my kid brain.

I'm sure I said this back when I first heard about the plot details, but isn't the real core of Jurassic Park with the dinosaurs being presented to us in how they might once have been, or at least how we imagine them? The theme isn't a horror theme, it's adventurous and romantic. It's about the beauty and sometimes terrifying power of nature, right? This just seems to be disconnected from that to me, and without that, it's just some blockbuster movie.

That shot of the Sauropod walking past the ball - the skin texture is 10x better than 1993 Brach shot.

Can we go one post without this kind of hyperbole?

I don't think real discussion is going to be allowed in this thread.

It's like a Bethesda thread, where the people who actually enjoy it and want to talk about it need to back off because 99% of the posts are "FUCK THIS PIECE OF SHIT".

Zero Dino Thirty. I'm in.

Now I dislike this trailer even more

Eh didn't like all the generic trailer music at the start. Kind of a mistake watching pan trailer before this, I found it much better

This trailer is surprisingly boring for a damn jurassic park revival lol wtf

Day one for the jurassic park nostalgia tho

For the complaints about genetically engineered dinos. Is not a major part of Jurassic Park, the novel, and the film too, that the dinosaurs are not really dinosaurs, but genetically engineered monsters roughly based on the dinosaurs' fragmented DNA? Grant makes this exact complaint. They were designed to look like dinosaurs but they aren't true dinosaurs, dinosaurs are extinct.

Taking it further to make original species is hardly farfetched.

Also in the book Wu talks to Hammond about altering the dinosaurs to make them slower and more docile.

That's not the main thing that bothered me about the trailer though it was the park itself, the bubble, the train it all just looks too futuristic. It just doesn't fit the look of the original Jurassic Park and looks out of place.

I know people are hyped because this is Jurassic Park but this is really just a bad trailer. Makes the movie look terrible. I think the worst was the dialogue. It sounded so fake and unconvincing. I'm sad that I have to watch all my favorite movies of my childhood die the slow death of Hollywood milking.

I feel like there should be enough interesting dinos used or not used without having to resort to this hybrid nonsense.

Wanted to turn it off after the "generic crowd surprised sound".
Still watched it.
Regrets for not turning it off moments before.

It's almost like things changed over 20 years and (presumably) new management.

Nailed it.

2015 should look like 1993?

The issue, at least based on the trailer, shows that the park has a pretty good hold on pretty much every other dino in the park. For Jurassic World to work now means we need an irregular one to keep everyone on their toes and only shows that whoever is in charge has zero clue about properly containing a dinosaur until they know how it acts.

Case in point, just keeping the damn thing behind a 40ft wall instead of an enclosed structure of some sort.
