Jurassic World Official Trailer

Wow, not really looking forward to this film at all now.

Funny, all it took was then saying they made a hybrid dinosaur and I lost all interest.

The writers do know that dinosaurs are already somewhat scary right? They have a park full of scary monsters and they needed to create one more to have an antagonist? Would have preferred a retelling of JP1 with a new Nedry starting it.

Looks rad, my childhood is hoping the monster dinosaur is the chameleon trex from the arcade game, you know the one

Believe I'm going to see the movie, but to act like this is an intelligent film is silly. It's a big loud fun movie about Dinosaurs wreaking havoc and eating people, also children in danger.
It's a good thing I never go to watch movies because they're 'intelligent.' I just want to have some fun.

Velociraptor is believed to have been an intelligent pack hunter. Who ever heard of humans taming an animal like that?

So who is leaning into what here?

The first scripts from JP4 had them mixing raptor and human DNA, won't be surprised to this be a twist in JW.

This trailer still brought back those same feelings I had as a kid. That sense of wonder. Bryce Dallas Howard is pulling off that Jim Hammond vibe. And Ann Heche looked crazy hot in that opening.

So other than Darth Sidious Rex and a requisite swimming scene with the Liopleurodon, what other antagonist animals will there be?

fake edit: oh man i just realized that there's a chance that superdevilsaurus either a) is shown or mentioned killing a spinosaurus or t rex to make it seem more badass, or b) the ending is jp1 mk2 with the rex coming in to kill it with a fanservicey roar afterward

To clarify, I liked the trailer and think this looks good.

But I also don't think it's unreasonable to want a movie to be both intelligent and fun, there are plenty of those out there.

I still think JP 1 has more convincing CG than most movies. I have never understood why that is but it really looks great. The blend of practical and CG effect was excellent as well. I watched it recently and was ver impressed.

And yes Chris Pratt is known for his charm and being kind of goofy. I don't want him in a serious role. After second viewing I don't even want to see this now.

I agree, but just personally it's never really something I seek out. If it's both, great, all the better, I just don't have any problem with either/or I guess.

That's because they're ripped it straight from the first JP film.

Dinosaur-Flares.jpg

Literally the only thing in common from that shot to this one is a flare. You're reaching.

The shot with the flair looks so familiar. Something 80s, something sci fi.

Maybe I'm combining the old 1984 Apple commercial with Aliens or something, but it looked really familiar.

I agree--it has a very sci-fi feel. I was thinking Alien/Aliens, too.

I'm hoping for a crazy first 2/3 and a more measured/terrorized final act.

Yep. Seeing the kid starting at the airport and going to the island on the boat and making his way through the crowd before the gate opens was fantastic. He's our eyes at least during this section and it worked wonderfully. And the shot of the kayaks in the river and the stegos on the side gave me that feeling as well.

Eh, the whole concept of dinosaurs escaping and attacking people feels played out. This movie just seems to offer more of the same.

Even Steven Spielberg couldn't make a good sequel to Jurassic Park. We'll see how this one turns out. BTW, I expect the dinosaur CGI to look better than it did in 1993. The trailer does not meet that expectation.

Probably just an issue of stretching that 150 million budget too far now that you have to do the whole park. Plus, you can tell this isn't meant to be a serious movie so I'm thinking Oscar winning special effects wasn't even a priority.

Universal-"Lets make a fun movie for kids with star lord!" I'm 100% sure it will be that at least. Adults may be out of luck depending on their mood though.

Folks wanted more like 1 but instead are getting more of 2 on steroids.

Personally I had zero expectations. Surprised this even got made.

Why was Pratt doing a weird voice in the trailer? It was as if he was over acting. Not hyped at all tbh.

I don't expect this movie to BE intelligent, but I want more than anything else to be intelligently made as a film. That means good direction, well established characters and motivations; maybe even a good message about controlling nature.

Even I know that this is a tall order considering how JP3 turned out, but until the film is out, I'll probably have some hope lol

The trailer doesn't do anything for me... The effects still looks horrible... The story sounds horrible and the characters suck as well. (whoa, rebellious teen and a kid, the writers really outdid themselves)

But in real life, males are the ones with extravagant feather designs.

Fuck this unscientific bullshit of a movie. It's not better than creationist trying to spread their stupid ass beliefs.

Not watching it even if it was free.

The dinosaurs are genetically engineered to conform to the public's perception of what dinosaurs are supposed to look like. It's a plot point in the books, where a scientist tells Hammond that they can still improve on the accuracy of the Dinosaurs historical looks, but Hammond says that this is what dinosaurs are supposed to look like.

That's why they don't have feathers, they aren't 100% identical to their genetic source material and tweaked to just look "good enough."

Seriously people, read the books. It is well within the intentions of the author to have the Jurassic Park people to push the boundaries, all in the name of making more bucks out of a public who always want to see the next big thing. They are playing God in the name of capitalism, and what better way of playing God than to create a whole, new dinosaur in order to draw in even more ticket payers?

Chris Pratt on a motorcycle alongside a pack of Raptors into battle?

That...

that's... just stupid and awesome enough for me to get hyped lmao.

Looks awesome!

And Chris Pratt over-exposure? A TV series that ended, one movie he's 'in' and one voice ... for all of 2014. That's not really 'over-exposure' IMO. But whatever, I dig the guy.

Ha, linked my GF on IM and she answered "Chris Pratt strikes me as someone who would be soooo excited to be in Jurrasic Park".

I picture this face:

Very well put, good sir. I, too, suggest more people read the book.

I think it had a lot to do with Dean Cundey's natural/organic cinematography style, too. The Lost World brought in Janusz Kamiński and a more stylized look, and I just don't think it works as well. Same for JP3.

This still has a kind of colorful style to it (it seems), like the last two.
