Jurassic World Official Trailer

Most of the convincing CGI was actually real models/animatronics though. The actual CG shows it age pretty well.

The one trailer is obviously a rough cut/trailer CG, and I don't' think it will look quite as off with what, six-seven more months of post to go.
I could certainly tell the difference between CG and animatronics. Now that I'm comparing this trailer versus JP1 I think the major difference is actually the lighting and environments. The lighting in most CG shots in films these days has a very surreal look.

That's an apples to oranges comparison because CG was considered a cutting edge visual effect during the time T2 came out. Today, we're constantly inundated with CG where none would have existed two decades ago and many of us are understandably saddened to see the sequel to a film lauded for its' practical effects lean on so much CG.

I wasn't talking about that. Read back what I highlighted from that post.

While the execution of the film will be subject to harsh debate. I dont get the comments regarding the stupidity of the Plot.

So here's the thing

1. Jurassic Park was brought out whole by Ingem and they developed it into a successful commercial property, which ran supposedly without incident for 10 years.

2. However, like all things, interest wanes and park visitor numbers begin a sharp decline because Dinosaur's are "old news" (like old tech phones which are replaced now at a fast pace)

3. Execs, wanting to bring back the crowds need new attractions to make it worthwhile. What would excite the masses? New Dinosaurs of course! New Scary Dinosaurs!

4. Dr Wu, who is an advocate for more genetic tinkering in the books, helps create brand new Dinos.

5. Shit happens.

None of it seems farfetched and seems in line with what the books were trying to warn of (genetic tinkering without ethics or thinking "should we?")

The far fetched part is, and I quote:

THAT WALLS 40 FEET HIGH, YOU THINK SHE CLIMBED OUT?
(played over clear claw marks of it having climbed the fuck out)

If you are already presenting your "whoops, it got out somehow!" moment as ludicrously stupid after 10 years of "not fucking up", its not surprising people aren't buying it. Then cap it all off with Motorbike Raptor Force and people are passing out from the stupid.

But plenty of people think it looks awful-and instead it looks like a ton of fun. Can't wait to prove them wrong.

You're gonna prove their opinions of a film's quality wrong

this is what you're planning to do in half a year's time, you've marked it on your calender and everything. Ready and waiting to quote IMDB ratings and RT scores as "proof"

this isnt sad or anything

This looks like satire.

Even the first line in the trailer was like a wink.

I'm hoping this is Piranha 3D with dinos, because it sure as hell don't look like the first Jurassic Park at all.

That was the point, it happens in real life and you can bet that poster isn't the only person that thinks like that.

You can also bet there are better and more original story concepts that could serve as a solution to that problem.

You can't wait to prove them wrong about something subjective?

This over-zealousness is hilarious and sad.

It's one thing to predict sales. It's another to spend an active amount of time searching through forum posts, feverishly looking for some sort of comment against a thing you like, and then making a topic dedicated to your obsession and ire at opinions. That's really depressing.

I'm surprised at all of the negative reactions to the whole "hybrid" thing. We've known for months now that one of the themes of the movie is poor corporate decisions from fear of flagging profits, which both is interesting to me and also a fairly natural extension of the themes of the first film. The problem moves from "should we be cloning?" to "should we be commercializing it?"

For me, it just seemed super corny. I was expecting something more fluid or organic (not in terms of the dino's looks, but how they describe it). Not just mini-godzilla-sorta-creature on the run. The movie still has time to get my hopes up with other trailers/info, so I'll keep an open mind when going in to view it. It's just a bad trailer and most of us are hoping it's not indicative of the movie's actual quality.

Dat comic movie fanboy m.o.

Bleeding into other film threads now. Is anybody even embarrassed when they "eat crow" for this shit? I honestly regret nothing in that tdkr/avengers thread

Taking into account how unsafe the attractions we see in the trailer are I can believe these guys were dumb enough to make a super smart dino that climbed out of its too small holding area.

I mean the Croc Dino could literally get out of the water and eat the guests. That ball transport thing is just asking to get the guests inside killed.

Dude motorbikes with Raptors.

It's not surprising something finally goes wrong, what's surprising is that it took 10 years.

The first scripts from JP4 had them mixing raptor and human DNA, won't be surprised to this be a twist in JW.

Not as far-fetched as people seem to think. That concept looks exactly like the description given by some scientists on how the Troodon would look like today.
Still, has no place in a JP film.

My bad, lost track of the context there :p

That didn't bother me nearly as bad as the mother's hamfisted dialogue in the airport telling her son to run if anything/anyone comes after him. Like seriously, what kind of a mother says something worded like that to their kid? She might as well have turned to the camera and addressed the audience directly by proclaiming "HELLO AUDIENCE, I'M FORESHADOWING THE INEVITABLE PLOT POINTS AHEAD".

I'm exaggerating a bit obviously but the majority of the dialogue in this trailer just made me roll my eyes and gave me a sense that this was a film that looks like it wants to just go through the motions.

Which is stupid if we assume the filmmakers are incompetent. Which hey, maybe they are and this is going to suck. But if they're not then it ties in very neatly to the entire running theme of Jurassic Park which is hubris and overconfidence.

One person's fun is another's awful.

You can't seriously say to the people that are unimpressed with this trailer that they're objectively wrong at this point. Besides the obvious nature of how different people enjoy different things, people are just giving their impressions based off of a 2-minute trailer. To save quotes for 8 months for now just seems so bizarre (not to mention, fruitless).

C'mon dude. Aren't you tired of all the jaded hyperbole out there everytime anything is announced or shown for the first time?
You're doing the same thing just on the other side of the coin. And BTW, I'm excited for this movie. It looks like silly fun. I just don't agree with the public shaming of people for opinions on a film though. It's not right.

Are those raptors really gonna fight along side Pratt? I hope that's not what's happening.

Maybe Fonzie Pratt will jump the liopleurodon at the end!

No, because people have opinions and what you want to do is demean people for not sharing the same opinions as you. I'm more tired of people screaming at others for liking/not liking something.

I'm going to be in the theater watching this opening day. That said, I am having a real hard time getting used to Andy Dwyer as a serious dude. I've only seen Pratt in P&R and GoTG so it is really weird seeing him all serious and definitely takes me out of it a bit.

Chris Pratt already showing us he will never measure up to Harrison Ford

He's got Han Solo nailed for sure but lacks dat screen presence to pull off a more serious character, let alone dramatic roles in the future

I bet he's gonna be stuck with being the wisecrack guy in future films
Uh, huh. I guess all comedic actors should stay typecast and not attempt to branch out into other roles

You know, guys like Steve Carrell (Foxcatcher), or some roles that Robin Williams did (Insomia)

Honestly didn't get that much out of the trailer. It was really nice to see the park being fully operational, but all the CGI is really disappointing. One of the best things about the original was the practical effects. I'll generally take those over tons of CGI any day.

It completely lost me when they started talking about making a hybrid. I mean, why?! There's no point to doing so other than saying you can and why would you make something incredibly deadly?

And that final shot is both dumb and awesome at the same time. It sucks because the raptors were always the deadliest things in the series given their intelligence, but seeing them as some sort of attack squad with Pratt put a grin on my face.

All in all, not expecting much. Could be a decent popcorn flick I suppose. Then again, I never really hated JP3 like others seem to either.

For the exact same reason you make a theme park of cloned dinosaurs in the first place: you think it will draw people in and you think you can control it

Pratt's delivery sounds pretty bad in some of those lines.

CG looks awful, the park looks fake as hell.

Part of the original's charm was the real environments. JP felt like a real place.
