Just built a new PC, what games am I missing?

EDIT:

If you are planning on getting S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Cherynobyl, get the Stalker Complete 2009 mod. It makes the already great game 10x better.

Is there something similar for Clear Sky? I just picked it up last week but have not started.

I played the original once already on my previous crappier PC when it came out in 07, before any patches and with the million bugs. Is it worth replaying?

No one posted Arian Werner's super PC gaming list? Definitely check these out, they'll educate you on a lot of games you might not be aware of.

Wow, amazing lists. I always worry about missing some more unknown PC games, indie stuff has become more popular, but still…

Thanks for posting them!

Tried out a few games since the topic started. Brief review of what I thought:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
The Witcher
Darwinia
CRYOSTASIS
Overlord II
Braid
And Yet it Moves

The witcher controlled like a mac truck. I can't possibly see myself getting into this, I played for a while and it did nothing for me. Cryostasis seemed like it has potential but I only played until the you have to keep chasing some wolves. Ehhh, maybe I'll get back to it.

Overlord II seems ok just ok.

Braid is interesting and could be fun when in the mood for a scroller but I'm looking for something more, I just don't know what.

Maybe I should go back and play oblivion? I loved fallout 3 and i remember a bunch of complaints being "it reminded me to much of oblivion." Well I thought fallout 3 was one of the best games I've ever played.

So I guess the logical next step is either get the expansions for it or get oblivion?

Whats the deal with the mods everyone was speaking of?

At the moment I'm finishing up Overlord 2 and playing through Trine.

They're a nice duo of games to play through concurrently, weirdly enough. I'd recommend them.

Trine

Then play Crysis already, it's a fantastic game. Get Mster config with it and play the Intel Map Pack after you beat both.

Like I said in the post before yours imo overlord 2 seemed ok at best...

Oops got my thread mixed up with this thread :D

Right on.

I recently got in on one of the Phenom II 940 X4 deals and also picked up a BFG GTX 260 maxcore oc. If you haven't seen Crysis/Warhead running on a GTX 260 yet, then do that asap. I upgraded from a 1st gen dual core system w/ 8800gt and the improvement is staggering.

Also download the Nvidia Medusa tech demo, since gameplay-wise pretty much everything else has already been covered in this thread.

I only read through the first page, my bad.

A lot of people seem shrug it off but I really, really enjoyed myself with it. But yeah, there's plenty of games that should take precedence before it.
