Just Cause 2 Multiplayer - [Beta Test: Sat 8th-9th September]

I also hope they figure out some way to cripple people using the superman mod. There's no point in having vehicular chaos if people can just fly around anyways.

I started playing it (the single player I mean) 3 days ago, and been enjoying it a lot, so I'll obviously be there this weekend!
 
Holy crap, we're back again eh?! Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait. Especially now with weapon and animation sync. I hope that means my air gun can blow guys away.

Basically the new client will be up when the servers are up. Follow the twitter or GAF. I'm sure it will be posted here as soon as it goes up. This needs to come out like now. I missed out on most of the last 2 test due to work.
 
One question: does other people show in your map? I can imagine it's gonna be really difficult finding anybody in that huge world.

On your hud but not in the ingame map. Sometimes there's 1k+ players. Would be nice to have some proximity based tracking but the good news with this mod is that's there always people around so it never feels lonely. It's awesome for that alone as the game can feel quite lifeless at times.

Also, I'm definitely in.
 
Without the ability to steal other player's vehicles or kill them or blow up their vehicles, I feel like the chaotic nature of just cause 2 is rendered useless with this mod. Don't really see the point in a JC2 multiplayer mod where everything isn't just out of control crazy all the time.

Unless you can do those things and I was just unable to for whatever bizarre reason.
 
I think you can kill other people now. At least people have health bars. Still, without hijacking this is REALLY boring after about 3 minutes.
 
The lack of hijacking really killed this mod for me now. It went from one of the most craziest online experiences this year to an online test that I load up for 10 minutes and quit out of boredom.
 
It's a beta for a reason and not final, it's still just a test.

Which commands can I use besides "/tp" and "/tp help" in this beta?

It's a beta test. They turn things on and off as they please to test both gameplay and bugs. I think I remember reading that with the final release server admins will be able to turn hijacking on or off, and a bunch of other things too, probably.

Also you can totally kill people and blow up their vehicles in the current test. I took down a jetliner with a silverbolt earlier today, it was pretty awesome.

you cant hijack from stunt position, but you can if your on the ground next to the vehicle

i jacked some guys g9 as it drove past me ready for take off

I'm not sure if I'm feeling it at the moment. It seems like you either spawn with a rocket launcher or you will die over and over again. Plus it seems laggy as hell now.

That's why we;re testing. They added weapon, animation, and gun mount sync. It's not something that goes right the first shot.
 
lol another good video. I played some more yesterday. I spawned with a grenade launcher, so I was actually able to partake in some of the fun. I went to an airport and kept getting the attack chopper. Since I knew when I was letting it blow up, I always knew when a new one would spawn.

This is a lot more fun when you're not the guy spawning and dying over and over again.

Got one of my friends the game when it was on sale, he's been absolutely loving it and playing it continually over the last week. Excited to try this with him and others.
 
Maybe there can be objectives or some meat to this sooner than later. Either way, I hope it opens up soon as massive 1500 players rooms are awesome. The game is now full of life thanks to this MP mod. We need actual activities though. Like some base or territory control. That would be epic.

I am psyched. I installed software to record game sessions. I can't wait to record 1000 person FFA madness.

Does the game work without the client? Made sure the correct path for the Steam version of the game is there? Also try setting Run as Administrator for both the game and mp client.

Decided to run the game normally and Steam downloaded something for me and now it works. Thanks.

Looks like I didn't run it since reinstalling windows.

Seems like the grapple hook syncing is still fucked.
