There are a lot of games that don't launch is SLI support that get it later on. FO4 is the most recent example. I expect it to get support later on.

Did anybody else get an 122MB update over steam today?

I'm not sure what it did.

Not true. There have been a number of games over the years that didn't have SLI support at launch but now have it. Fallout 4 being a recent example.

Apparently, I stand corrected. I also didn't know FO4 received SLI support.

Nothing. Jesus christ the loading times ESPECIALLY that god awful intro still takes like a fucking minute to just get to the menu.. WTF. I'm using SSD.

Install the No Intro mod right now. That stupid video is insane.

Are your other load times long too? The intro video/loading the game the first time was the only thing bugging me, all other loads only take a couple seconds on an SSD.

I like how they addressed cut scenes being skippable while ignoring the one everyone is actually complaining about.

Had my first crash upon exiting.

Sent the report, hopefully Avalanche investigate what's going on.

Good news:

Hi guys,

We have a new patch we’re testing that addresses the exit to windows crash some players have been experiencing since the 1.02 patch. The patch will also include some of the ongoing optimisations we’ve been working on. We’re aiming to release the patch next week ahead of the Christmas break.

Additionally, we’ve had a few people asking us about minimum/recommended specs since Patch 1.02 launched, so we thought we’d share those here too.

System Requirements

MINIMUM:

OS: Vista SP2 / Windows 7.1 SP1 / Windows 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
Processor: Intel Core i5-2500k, 3.3GHz / AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 3GHz
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 (2GB) / AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB)
Storage: 54 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

OS: Vista SP2 / Windows 7.1 SP1 / Windows 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (3GB) / AMD R9 290 (4GB)
Storage: 54 GB available space

Picked this up today on Steam.

i5-2500k @ 4.0 ghz
GTX 970
8GB RAM

Load times are pretty brutal. I had to add the borderless window command line in steam because performance with vsync on is horrible, and vsync off even with rivatuner 60fps cap has horrible tearing.

The game is really fun, but I get random fps drops, and later in my play session i started to get momentary drops to 0fps.

Also i've exited the game 3 times now, and each time the game locks up and I have to close it in task manager.

Yeah, not the best first impression...

guys, I got an issue, hope someone can clarify this for me. My specs are

GTX 780
I5-3750K
8GB RAM
Windows 10 Ultimate 64

having a weird pixelated issue with this game on pc. All maxed, everything looks as if resolution has been bumped to fullscreen but it's actually 1280x720 or less, with out of focus and pixelation everywhere. It's unwatchable.
Fallout 4, Batman AK, GW2, any other recently released games I've played don't have this issue. I also run those with Reshade and they look super sharp, expecially FO4 which looks great. Tried some configurations with JC3 but nothing happens, pixelation and blurriness still appear. Anyone got any idea about this?

Bought today and was wondering: does the same offline tip in the OP still apply? I'm running this on a 980ti so I'm hoping to brute force some issues, but I have a feeling it's still not gonna run great.

Disable reshade. It's common knowledge it can cause issues because it's not officially supported by the dev.

New nvidia hotfix drivers fixed the underclocked memory problem on my gtx 970.

Nvidia has released this driver with very scarce information, "clocking related issues" Apparantly at addresses an issue where memory clock speed was not running at full speed with certain apps/games. GeForce Hot Fix driver version 361.60 that addresses the following issues:

Crashes in Photoshop & Illustrator
Install & clocking related issues

I run it at 4K on a 980ti and get around 50fps consistently, with most options maxed.

Hm even at just 1440p I can't get a stable 60fps. I've settled at 1080p with everything maxed but AA (because ghosting) and that's satisfied me - what do you have to turn down for such good performance at 4K?

Side note, are there ini tweaks to up the load distance of foliage? zipping around in the air as flowers spawn right in front of you is the most disorienting thing ever

I just did a test with these settings, bear in mind my 980ti is OC'd 210+ GPU and 350+ mem, and 3770k is 4.5ghz.

Vsync off- but adaptive used through CP
Aniso- 16x
AA- off
Texture detail- very high
Water detail and tess- very high
Lod- very high
Shadow- high
SSAO- on
Motion blur- on
Edge fade- off
GI- off
SSR- on
Bokeh- on

I'm getting a constant 50-55 fps @4K which I'm pretty amazed I'm getting tbh, just wish they'd fix the glitching.

Not really messed around with any ini tweaks yet.

Just Cause 3 is Avalanche studio's latest addition to the mind (and lots of other stuff) blowing open world action-adventure series: Just Cause. Published by Square Enix, the game released on December 1, 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. During the development of the game, Intel and Avalanche have been working closely together to optimize the game on Iris graphics, but also to make use of DX12's features to improve the performance even further as well as bring additional visual quality to the game!
This session will cover the changes Avalanche made to their engine to match DX12's pipeline, the implementation process and best practices from DX12. We'll also showcase and discuss the PC exclusive features enabled thanks to DX12 such as Ordered Independent Transparency, and G-buffer blending using Raster Ordered Views and light assignment for clustered shading using Conservative Rasterization

http://schedule.gdconf.com/session/using-new-directx-features-in-practice-just-cause-3-case-study-presented-by-intel

Strange, this game does not support DX12 on PC. At least not from what I could tell.

Maybe they are talking about a to-be-released patch.

Well, technically none of these features require DX12 _runtime_. You can access them through DX11.3.

Yes but they explicitly talk about DX12 there. And it's very strange that they would not have made any waves about DX11.3 support.
You would also think Nvidia would be delighted to see a game taking advantage of some Maxwell's hardware features, how come they have remained silent about that all along ?

It's possible they are just experimenting with DX12 and not planning on releasing a public DX12 version of Just Cause 3 but that does not make much sense to me.

Hoping for a patch.

These are DX12 features all in all as they were released with DX12 and are available only on Win10 machines which have DX12. It's just that you don't need the DX12 renderer to actually use them.

It's interesting that they are planning to talk about this though since all these features are based on FL12_1 which is absent from XBO so this can't be about the XBO version of JC3. A patch may be a bit too optimistic however as this may turn out to be just some engine experiments on Avalanche's part.

Yeah this is not about the xbone at all, they explicitly mention DX12 PC features. But they are nowhere to be seen in the Just Cause 3 we can actually play.
The game uses DX11_0 right now.

Maybe those DX12 features are exclusive to Intel GPUs, but I can't find anything on the subject.

nvidia is more likely. intel doesnt really have much to gain by shelling out money to avalanche

The GDC session is sponsored by Intel though. It's also likely that the features developped in partnership with Intel will work on all supporting hardware.

I wonder if they implemented any graphical improvements or just used D3D12 to gain performance.

Skylake GPUs are the only ones FL12_1 besides Maxwell.

They did do it for that one racing game... eh... what was it called again?

DX12 is a pretty big boost for IGPs IMO.

GRID 2 i believe, or was it autosport? one of those 2. yeah its a big boost but i just cant see it doing intel any good in terms of increasing revenue or marketshare. i mean the people who would even know about it are highly unlikely to be playing on intel integrated graphics to begin with. and even with these dx12 features skylake will still be hella slow, just cause 3 is a demanding game. on the cpu side, almost everyone is already buying intel anyway.

Eeehhh I wouldn't be too sure about this. Using 11_0 seems like a waste at the moment as 11_1 is supported even on Win7. They are most likely using 11_2 on compatible h/w -- there is no reason why they shouldn't especially if you consider that their XBO code should be 11_3/12_0.

All these features are supported on Maxwell 2 and Skylake IGPs.

Is there any way to know for sure which version of DX11 the game is using ?

Ah gotcha - despite the flickering, I still have kept GI on. Wish they'd fix that and the ghosting on their AA solution.

I should do a basic OC on my CPU and see if that helps any.

So apparently F1 2015 devs are doing the same thing and will describe their D3D12 renderer during GDC16. Interestingly they are planning to use FL12_1 in their renderer as well. And it's Intel as a sponsor of the session again.

Codemasters present a post-mortem on their new rendering engine used for F1 2015 detailing how they balanced the apparently opposing goals optimizing for mainstream processor graphics, high end multi-core and DX12. The F1 2015 engine is Codemasters' first to target the eighth generation of consoles and PC's with a new engine architecture designed from scratch to distribute the games workload across many cores making it a great candidate for DX12 and utilise the processing power of high end PC's. This session will show the enhanced the visuals created using a threaded CPU based particle system without increased the GPU demands and also cover the changes made to the engine while moving from DX11 to DX12. We will also discuss the graphics effects added using the new DX12 features Raster Ordered Views (AVSM and Decal Blending) and Conservative Rasterization (Voxel based ray tracing) adding even greater realism to the F1 world.

I sure hope that AMD will add FL12_1 support in Polaris.

Well I just played half an hour or so with the new patch and can confirm that neither the Global Ilumination flicker nor the SMAA Temporal AA weirdness are fixed, bit of a disappointment really. General performance seems the same but this is on a 5820k/980.

Just tried it out, the stuttering is CONSIDERABLY improved.

Still not ideal, but at least the game is playable for me now.

EDIT:

Here's something that one of the developers posted on the steam forums regarding the release date of the patch. Perhaps the update that just got released wasn't the full update?

The game is running a lot smoother for me after the patch and I was able to turn up several settings. 4770K stock, GTX 680 2GB (reference), 12 GB ram at 1080p. Most of the stuttering is gone.

Are the PC leaderboards back up yet? I'd like my overdue Chaos Millionaire achievement.

Just played for maybe 15 minutes - the leaderboards are indeed back up.

This is good to hear since my specs are pretty close to yours (670 and 16GB)

Hope I can play some tonight then and not experience a hung gpu :D

This is still a far worse PC port than Arkham Knight was for me. Even with the new patch today it stutters constantly. 2GB 670, i5-3570k, 8GB of RAM and it's unplayable at 1080p, with every setting as low as it can go. It looks worse than Just Cause 2, which I can run at 60FPS all day long.

I don't know if I need to reinstall everything or what, but this shit is straight up broken and I'm sick of struggling to play it.

The game consumes ~13GBs of RAM. No wonder that it stutters on a machine which has only 8.

And it definitely doesn't look worse than JC2.
