Just Cause 3 - the wish list

So, with Avalanche really wanting to make a third game and Just Cause 2 being a commercial and critical succes, the question raises: what do we all wish for Just Cause 3?

I've been playing JC2 for 17 hours now and I'm loving it, but I can't stop to think: what the hell will they do with part 3? I am really interested in your wish lists as well.

More focused and involving story
Well, the story sucks, simple. The focus is not on story at all and that's very logical, but I think JC3 could be a better game with more story focus. This could be done with better voice acting, better cutscenes and more surprises in missions. Also, the game is way too cheesy and childlike at times. Making a game about regime chance offers so much different possibilities story-wise.

Having a real sense of civil war
Honestly, I think part 1 did this better than 2. I really want to have the feeling that I'm occupying the island bit by bit. Now you just go on a mission with 5 guys and suddenly 100 square kilometers is occupied... right. In the first Just Cause you really had to liberate every settlement together with the guerrilla troops, I think they should have done something like this as well.... really have the feeling of assaults on bases and villages on a bigger scale, so you have the feeling of being involved into a country-wide war. Also, you should start really small-scaled with occupying a few small villages and a small army post, and that build more and more momentum to start bigger assaults... approaching the capital bit by bit for the final fight. For this element counts as well: have a very good and believable build-up. I don't care about believable action at all, but I do like the sense of really taking over the country, what the Just Cause-franchise really is about.

Having even a better sense of truly being in a whole country
First of all: JC2 is by far the best game that gives you a feeling of really being into a whole country, it's incredible. But I think this could be done a bit better still. For example, the economy of Panau doesn't really make sense. All the roads are very good, every building in the capital is ultramodern and there are no slums at all. If these kinds of things get improved, that would be great.

What about your 2 cents?

I wouldn't want this game.

What the fuck is this shit???? That stuff is a part of the Just Cause series very identity!

I already mentioned this in the full thread, but...

Jetpacks
Because Jetpacks are fucking awesome

Fly into orbit
I want to go from the ocean floor into space. Is that so much to ask?

and wtf? I don't want them to focus the story. I want it more crazy. My explanation for how they have jetpacks and space travel is that Rico was frozen and wakes up in the future. Why not? and for some reason Bolo is a robot so she is also in the future. And someone else mentioned dinosaurs. Throw all that stuff in there. I want mechs fighting ninja dinosaurs in space.

No shitty, unfun chase missions at the beginning of the game.

A less-sketchy control system.

Some kind of real cover system.

JC2 is a shit-ton of fun though, worth every penny of the $40 I spent on it.

very stupid identity.

the story sucks and so do the cutscenes. i`ll agree with a better story with more surpises. also everything else in the op makes sense.

Then it becomes some boring ass generic sandbox game. It's like Commando. Bad acting, cheesy as hell, insane stunts, B-grade quality but SO AWESOME.

Vehicles need more views like GTA does.

The grappling hook needs upgraded to be able to connect more than one thing.

Space does sound cool:D

I'm usually all for better story, but not for Just Cause. Just Cause needs to be silly. It needs to be cheesy. It needs to revel in its B-Movie plot, like a pig slopping about in muck.

Really, I want Rico either to be a bit tougher so that he can last longer before needed a health pack, or have a faster regenerating shields.

Also, better control for planes.

And what Linkzg said. And submarines. And an underwater research facility. With a kraken.

nope - its not some "good" b-movie stuff and dont has some grindhouse charme. its just bad. simple as that. even mercenaries 2 had a better story LOL

Who the hell cares about the story though? Sure some of the missions could be better but if you're going into this game wanting a deep story then you have no clue. It's like Red Factions story. I couldn't have given a flying fuck what it was on about but it gave me more shit to destroy.

How dare you insinuate that Just Cause 2 dont has some grindhouse charme! Take that back! LOL

Nobody plays Just Cause because they want a great story. It's all about the crazy stuff you can do and things you can blow up. That's Just Cause. Like Crackdown, this game is just rock n roll.

I played it for more than 25 hours and just finished the first agency mission LOL

No more infinitely respawning enemies!

When I break into a base/village, it has a set amount of guards and maybe one set of reinforcements in the wings. If I kill everyone, let me blow shit up in peace.

Make the enemies harder if necessary. I don't care if I actually have to think about how I'm going to take out the guards (and this is where a cover mechanic would be cool, too, I guess), but for fuck's sake, make them stop!

Yeah dude, you don't get. The story and voice acting are deliberately terrible and that's why it's great. It works perfectly with the style and gameplay the game has.

Co-op is the only thing Just Cause 3 needs.

wait, the most important thing:

CO-OP

I think the most important thing is to either make a game that is actually good outside of the rampant mindless destruction, or make a game that has nothing but rampant mindless destruction. I'd say that for about 75% of the time I'm in missions, I hate Just Cause 2. It is quite probably the worst game I've ever liked.

But damn, when not in missions or when in those few that are great, do I ever like it.

I respecfully disagree with the OP. The story is fine the way it is - being terrible. I just want to skip more of the cutscenes.

All I want is better checkpointing, a less terrible health system, less protect missions, and in general more shit to blow up because that's the best part of the game. My dream version of Just Cause would have Red Faction destructibility. :D

Off the top of my head:
  1. better health system, some way to recover your health easier. The way it is now it's too punishing and makes playing the game on more difficult levels and exercise in frustration
  2. better ammo system, let me call in black market ammo, make ammo more abundant, especially considering the terrible health system
  3. better system to help point out items you may have missed to 100% the camp (make it a pay item from the black market or something)
  4. be able to spawn anywhere, why force people to spawn at a "safe house" then make them call in the black market extraction, seems like a giant waste of time
  5. more weapon variety, you are a superspy yet you have no access to any super weapons? Look into Mercs2 for more cool weapons. Laser targetting, different grenade types, more guns, upgradable guns, gun parts, upgradable vehicles , etc etc
  6. more mission variety. Give me more reasons to drive and walk in the game world. You get used to seeing everything from above when you miss how great the game looks from ground level.
  7. a cover system would be nice given how aggressive the AI can be, may not be needed if the health system is improved
  8. NPC/AI henchmen. Should be able to hire/bribe factions to join you on missions, similar to Saint's Row
  9. online co-op would be awesome as well as mission structures that encourage teamplay (see MW2 coop missions for hints)

its not the main point, but avalanche could make JC3 better in that regard. because the game is really flawed at some point of playing. you know, even destruction can be repetive and the game fails to deliver new gameplay mechanics later in the game. so, i play the story and thinks its extremly bad and boring.

Oh, another thing. Every single cut scene needs to have the ability to be skipped. Every one. I don't care if they are hiding load times, I'd rather watch a load screen.

That's right, Just Cause 2. Your story and acting are worse than staring at a load screen. I'm not under the delusion that they can fix either, so don't bother me with sitting through any of it.

CO-OP

and more co-op.

Just imagine the things you could do in the game if you were playing with a friend.

Endless possibilities

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

No one should ever play Just Cause for the story, and this game shouldn't be burdened by serious and slogging storylines that we'll forget after we turn off our systems.

I am so freaking tired of games taking themselves so damn serious (Bionic Commando, anyone? Red Faction? Killzone 2? Resistance 2?) without an ounce of humor or fun. Go get your story elsewhere, but you better not get it in JC3.

then it sounds like you've missed the point entirely, this game is never going to be your cup of tea

then again you play video games; 95% of game stories suck and even a majority of the good ones come off as having been written by a high-schooler. the only games with good stories are the ones that have been thought out and focused on [mas effect], or are simple enough that nobody cares [mario]. i'm not sure what you're expecting here but for crying out loud go watch a movie if you're so concerned about having lame story offend you

imo just cause 2 knows not only how cheesy it is, but that there wasn't a point in bothering players WITH a lot of story. that's part of what makes it great and fun to fuck around with

Good points, JC2 has a lot of minor annoyances that should be easy fixes for their next game.

From the top of my head:

Magic wands, laser beams, rainbows, rocket cars, giants, Cthulu, Paula Abdul as Rico and Bolo's Crazy Daughter, dragons, olyphants, UFOs, cement trucks, human cannons, pirate ships, Atlantis, rocket suit, glider as well as parachute, dual grapples (one for each arm) nukes, and space.

Let me use the guns that you put in the game. I bought the game to shoot baddies, just let me use the weapons without having to watch two cutscenes and saving up money for them.

Exactly, the third 'story' mission is still there after 15 hours of gameplay here. I've never even thought of going to do it.

The people who don't get this game should go play some Mass Effect and drool over the great storylines there.

This can be patched into JC2, but I want the ability to throw grenades with my left hand when hanging from a grapple. Currently, your left hand is tied up while in a grapple so you can only shoot using your right-hand weapon.

I want to be able to grapple onto a helicopter, place a triggered explosive, drop off, and detonate the explosive while parachuting back down.
