Just played the Ninja Gaiden 3 RE's demo on PSN...

I'm really curious has any of these "better on wii U" games actually been better on the platform.

From what iv seen

Batman AC Worse
Black Ops 2 Worse
Razors Edge Worse

Black Ops 2 has AA over the PS3/360 versions.

Trine 2 is also better overall and so is Need For Speed MW.

Yea the framerate difference between the PS3 and Wii U version of RE is pretty noticeable. Hopefully TN releases a patch for the Wii U version?

Unfortunately I think the PS3/360 version of RE will still have those dumb as hell stealth segments which means this game is still a 8/10 at best.

Demo was a lot of fun. I only played through as Ryu, and the difficulty on normal felt right for a NG game.

I never played the retail release for NG3, and I don't have Wii U, so I really can't comment on the changes. I still feel I don't have as much control over Ryu as a do in the previous games; it seems at times he goes on a killing spree and I'm watching enemies explode. Digging the gore, however.

Pretty much how I've felt about NG series from NG2 onward. Between Obliterate techniques and extra long UTs (and chaining them) I really feel like I'm just watching NG nowadays. Don't get me wrong, still enjoyable games and I'm not knocking the addition of OT and in NG:RE BoS, I just feel like I'm watching him instead of controlling him.

Ohh you can unlock skills. Awesome. Got better after a bit. Those guys at the end of Ayane's demo are tough.

Didn't know you could upgrade weapons! Will play again later, got my ass kicked by the 3 ninjas on Ayane

Contrast feels a bit too dark, could be my monitor, had to turn up the brightness to feel more comfortable with it.

I can't believe how much smoother it is than the Wii one. Feels miles better.

As an aside, this is actually harder than the main game. In both levels you go into the boss with no save beforehand, which would fill your health up.

I'm experiencing some input lag at the end of ryu's section. Anyway fighting these soldiers is still boring as fuck.

It's nice that team ninjadog is still putting the suxaxis to good use. How are they gonna emulate that on 360?! Reviewers better factor that into their reviews.

Hmmm.

PS3/360 Alpha
WiiU Beta
PS3/360 Final
PC Enhanced

Could it happen!?!

PC needs more luv from this genre :(

They won't.....Maybe they could have you hold both triggers and then jiggle the stick...or something...But they didn't have it in DOA5 so no probably not.

The profanity is juvenile. Cursing doesn't bother me, hell I do it all the time, but when I'm playing the game and enemies keep saying shit and fuck about 250 times within a minute, it's pretty off-putting. I had to stop playing due to it. Not sure why there has to be so much cursing in a ninja combat game.

I thought that was pretty annoying too. There hasn't been any profanity in the NG games before so it just felt forced and out of place imo. I was so disappointed in the changes I couldn't even get past the first level. Perhaps I'll give another chance one day but man did they mess this game up. I can't imagine how terrible the vanilla games were if RE is an improvement.

Did you like NG2? Because that's what it remind me of most. The normal difficulty is brutal at times.

yea I'd consider NG2 the best 360 exclusive, guess I'll check the demo out

but I'd greatly prefer this. I really really doubt it :(

I bought the PS3 version for $100...

but yea, I think its great demo. Just finished Ayane part and I thought it was fun. It seemed harder than original NG3

Oh, wow. The demo's changed my tune slightly: the arenas (with projectile spam in Ryu's chapter on Normal. What is with Ninja Gaiden and it's projectile spam?) are still shit but the combat has been slightly improved from the hot mess it was in NG3's demo. No more "whiffle bat"ing in terms of trying to hit your intended target. Hard part is dodging shit while trying to hit a projectile spamming RPG enemy with the bow.

Played a little of Ayane and she feels similar to how she felt in NG2Sigma, which is fine with me. I liked Ayane there despite her weak power.

Is it $60 for me? Well, no. Steel on Bone is there still (but toned down and changed IIRC), and it hasn't really radically improved the game. Just fixed some complaints. Would I play it though? Maybe. But that maybe is if Master Ninja plays it and says it's been slightly improved from "shit" to "bad/tolerable bad."

Has the targeting been fixed? That's all I want to know. The rest of the game is shit, but if they fixed the targeting then I'll probably still buy it. Fucking hell. Can't believe I just said that.

You might want to avoid Metal Gear Rising as well, then (the same applies to it). Doesn't bother me, though, just a heads-up.

I played through it, the same did apply though it didn't seem as heavy as it is here. All the cursing just made me think, really? Hate seeing the series stoop to it, is all. I grew up with the original games and I loved the reboot on Xbox, but now it feels like it's trying too hard to be "cool" or something and failing miserably. Not saying the series has never seen anything like it, but I find this one to be particularly off-putting.

What was wrong with it? Targeting prioritizes projectile spammers.

Well, Ninja Garbage 3 is Hayashit's attempt at making Ninja Gaiden "casual" for the "casual" players in "ze West." I'm guessing he thought "cursing up a storm means we'll sell MILLIONS(!) in the west!" while making this.

On the ground? From vanilla? Yeah, Ryu seems less prone to "whiffle bat" at enemies and will actually stay on one target for a combo for a bit. Or it seems that way with me. With the bow? No, not really. It's still prioritizing the closest enemy if you're firing it without aiming (which is what you should be doing in the middle of combat against 7+ enemies with projectile spammers) like NG/NG2 before it. However the aim button seems to magnetically pull toward projectile spammers, which is nice... when you aren't eating attacks from ground-troopers while trying to hit said projectile spammers with the bow.

I need to delve into the demo a little more tomorrow to give you a totally definitive answer though.

I died a few times until I had enough Karma to level up her weapon. They are way underpowered for those bosses. These gave access to new moves. I pretty much just spammed any combo that consisted of heavy attacks since they have problems blocking/dodging them. Make sure to save Ninpo from the Spider Clan fight before the boss fight so you can heal during the boss fight.

What was most frustrating was that Ayane seemed to constantly switch targets, made it difficult to focus on just one guy.

As far as Kasumi goes, I think you have to keep playing higher difficulties until she unlocks.
Thanks for this. I didn't know you could upgrade weapons. Beat it in 2 tries after I upgraded it.

Here's someone going through the Master Ninja Difficulty in the demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u0N_hJraTU&list=UUnzlO_4O0E0jFAUE49dUE5g&index=1

Yeah, I tried it earlier as well. They definitely tweaked the difficulty up from the original, which I beat and actually had some fun with on PS3. I'll probably rent or pick this up on the cheap one day for the changes and new content.

Played the demo and the WiiU version. Didn't see any improvement in the PS3 (even worst, the system plainly refuses to stay in 1080p, and it was noticeable). But then again, I only notice a slight frame rate slow during the helicopter battle (and it's really hard for me to notice jaggies, even to the point that there is only one place in Xenoblade where I notice them, and it was a cut scene, in a small room).

Tried the demo, will play more when I have time, but I really did not have fun. Maybe I need to upgrade more. While I can see some of the new ideas that were being implemented...this game ultimately still feels more restricted/handicapped than NG Sigma or Sigma 2.

got my ass kicked at ayane last fight. didn't know about the weapon upgrade though. i like it so far, but i already dread the projectile spamming.

Nah just dash away form enemies, target with (L2 or L1 I forgot) and shoot with O with Ayane or r2 with Hayabusa, targetting(L2 or L1) usually picks out the projectile spammer.

It was clearly going to be a better optimized game on the HD twins, especially on PS3. Hayashits team has experience port 2 titles, built fundementally built from the ground up, for the OG Xbox and 360 respectively, to PS3.

Not only that but the wiiU version was a launch window title, built using dev kits that many have stated didn't reflect launch hardware for a long time to a short deadline. Not only that but adding features like off-tv play that have never been done in a team ninja game before.

Furthermore, NG3 is fundamentally a CPU intensive game as that deals with enemy counts and A.I. The wiiU may have greater graphics and ram to offset it's weak CPU but it is still weak. It's obvious the framerate would have been poorer.

Now I think hayashits team is a pale imitation of itagakis but giving credit where it's due, their strength is ports. If the wiiU razors edge is a worse performing game, that is more down to the way the game was built and the wiiU hardware than dev laziness.

yea, i've been doing that. seems like a high dose for early level and normal.

Does SoB still break rhythm and flow?

Does SoB still break rhythm and flow?

Kinda, but not nearly as much as before. Really it's akin to Obliterate Techniques from NG2 in terms of how it flows with the rest of combat. They tied SoB to counters or something like that but I'm still fucking confused on that aspect. Mostly because the animation for countering is completely gone so I'm not even sure wtf I'm doing.

The button prompt QTE shit is gone though thank god.

All the content they showed so far has already been released on the Wii u Version in Feb. and if you already own that version there's no reason to buy it on Ps3; outside of controller preferences.

only evil Ryo outfit we didn't get on wii U and for ps360 should has NG3 save to get it.
