Just the Wolverine game alone makes the PS5 worth it...

..for me.

Just thinking about what kind of insane combat will the game have, and possibilities of Villains who Wolverine will go up against is exciting to imagine.

What game has made the PS5 worth it for you?

or

What game does the PS5 need to make it worth it for you?

Final Fantasy

IX remake? Is this really true? I still dont believe it.

VII Rebirth will it live up to the unicorn dream of FFVII 1:1 remake?

XVI i really like Naoki Yoshida
I got burned out on the amount of content in XIV so i want to see if he can bring back the franchise in single player format.

One thing the PS5 does already that makes me buy it later this year.
99% PS4 backwards compatibility
And no jet engine fans.

You heard it here folks: 'just thoughts of a game and possibilities' are reason enough to spend $600 bucks.

Obviously quite a few people here don't fully understand what an opinion is.

I'm a huge Wolverine fan, I'm a huge Insomniac fan. I know the game will turn out great, am I saying it will be the greatest game of all time, no, I highly doubt it.

Elder Scrolls 6 has almost zero info, I'm looking forward to it
There were people that were highly anticipating Tears of the Kingdom even back when it was "Breathe of the Wild 2" before we had any info. It's normal to anticipate a game from a great development team...yea even before we get full details on it.

Quite honestly, this was the first gen that Sony's exclusives failed for me, and I find myself in the market for an XSX. Maybe I wait for the XSX Pro, we'll see. On the PS5, the only exclusive I really care about is Ghost of Tsushima, and I haven't even finished it yet. MS, on the other hand, now has studios like Bethesda, Obsidian, inExile, Ninja Theory, and Undead Studios, and that's too much critical mass to ignore in terms of stuff I really do care about. If it keeps going this way I may end up with just an Xbox next gen, since I'd rather keep my game library on a single service. But at the end of the day, it's up your personal preferences. I'm curious about Wolverine, but it's not a system seller for me, and, as others pointed out, I haven't even seen the game yet so it's difficult to be excited for.

Demon's Souls alone would have been worth it for me. Returnal and God of War Ragnarok, as well.

Same for FFXVI, FFVII Rebirth and several others for me.

PlayStation always has tons of console-sellers.

Spoilers, Villains will be dumbed down to make average Joe feel special.

And you're thinking this with a CGI that has no clue on how the gameplay is

This is the flat earth of gaming

I don't need exclusives to play a console I'll give you my top 5 ps5 games so far
5. assassins creed Valhalla
4. Ghost of tshuma
3. Spider-man miles morales
2. GT7
1. Hitman 1-3

I've yet to play god of war, or horizon. I thought last of us was a ps3 game but still really good.

While the Wolverine teaser looks intriguing it's not going to make me rush out and buy a PS5.

I am a PC/Nintendo gamer nowadays. Nothing is going to convince me to buy a Playstation or XBox console ever again. Inevitably, like Spiderman 1, Miles Morales, and Ratchet and Clank....Spiderman 2 and Wolverine will make it to PC one day. I can wait.

Also, I love Japanese developed games, but those I can't find on a Nintendo console I can find on Steam. I don't need Sony anymore to bring me the Japanese goodness I love. Valve have done an excellent job at convincing most Japanese developers that they can make money on that marketplace.

From AAA, AA and even Indie Japanese developers you can find most of it on Steam, and I love it.

Nintendo has a stranglehold on some of the best exclusives I enjoy...Zelda, Metroid, and Mario.... you can't get them anywhere else...so love or hate their underpowered consoles, or their contempt towards consumers with their terrible business practices you can only get their amazing games in one place. I will show up day one for whatever hardware or software they offer.

I have been thinking about going PC for quite some time. I like the simplicity of consoles but the amount of great indie / AA games that skip Xbox and Playstation is starting to piss me off lol.

not gonna lie, im excited despite having zero info.

insomniac + wolverine = me excite.

It's one of those cases that we don't need every detail to know that it'll be great. I'm not expecting the greatest game of all time. If I didn't have a PS5 already I would want to get one to play a Wolverine game from Insomniac. Just like how I bought a Series X for Bethesda making a game set in outer space.

Certain concepts are just that intriguing. I see some comments saying it's a fanboy thread, it's really not. It's what makes videogames exciting, playing games you've always wanted to play

Indies on the PC far exceeds what's on console. I completely agree with you. The console experience however keeps me gaming there instead of on my PC though

"How I feel about things shapes my reality." A very modern person opinion...

You dont know what the game is, how could you possibly justify buying a console for a game you HAVEN'T seen? What if it's open world? What if it's not? What if it's a 1st person combat game?

I assume you've already preordered? Yeah everyone has an opinion but some peoples opinions are pretty bad....

Many people bought a PS5 for the sole reason of it existing.

I can't afford it(maybe i could but its too expensive for what it is now)but the games most appealing that are coming soon are Final Fantasy XVI and VII-2

Oh, damn, hold on... You should delete this and hide, Sony ninjas may come after they know you played it and are ruining the surprise

I mean - Wolverine is my favorite superhero since I was a kid. So having an insomniac do a great game of him - yeah that'll be worth it (don't love Spider-Man as a character). There hasn't been a must have exclusive yet imo

Same. I'm more excited to see what they do with Wolverine than Spidey. Would rather tear shit up with adamantium claws then swing around New York.

Not a knock on Spider-Man at all as im a fan of that as well.

Wolverine is my most anticipated game.

Insomniac put a lot of love into their games, they are one of the most talented studios and based on their track record, the game has an extremely high chance of being amazing! Unless something went really wrong, it would be safe to assume it will be good.

I was worried it would be a G rated affair like Spider Man but given they said there is dismemberment means it's most likely to be darker and more violent, in line with Wolverine's character. As long as keeping true to Wolverine is part of their direction, I'm already sold.

I would be shocked if Wolverine on PS5 isn't a great game. Insomniac knows the importance of the combat and authenticity, it's going to fun.

For alot of people Bloodborne 2 would be worth getting a PS5 alone.

For alot the next Fallout will be worth getting an Xbox

The beauty of exclusives

Swinging around New York made open world not only bearable but actually kinda fun to do, something practically most open worlds just suck at. It's one step before flying around, like Ironman or Superman would do, and that would be too much then.

While for hack&slash God of War or something like it already does that. So Spiderman filled a hole Wolverine just can't.

Nevertheless I'd also dig a more mature definitely M-rated superhero game. Comic heroes, especially in Marvel movies, are way too colorful and almost sunshine and rainbows despite the tragedies. Batman, Sandman, Constantine, Sin City is the stuff that actually suits crime fighting, broken cities and societies and otherwordly challenges.

Wow you've been thinking that for 2 years over a teaser trailer. 🤔

While I expect game to be great and I expect that it will sell gangbusters, I have no desire to play superhero game.
I would rather Insomniac to make original IP and not being a "comicbook superhero games factory"

Tbh. I would rather play Sunset Overdrive 2 than Wolverine or Spider-Man 2.

Mixed feelings on the OP - agree with the earlier cult comment, but also it harkens back to the days when we were allowed to just be excited about games, without pixel and frame rate counting, and without the endless, crushing cynicism and circular, endless arguments that gamers seem to favour today…

Wolverine's not for me, but there's something endearing about the OP's unbridled excitement?

I remember when all the LJN Marvel games looked cool, but the only games that were memorable were the ones made by Capcom. Insomniac will probably do a great job, but it'll probably be a lighthearted adventure and we will have wait for a sequel to get the characters we want to see.

That movie based game for Wolverine, where you're taking down helicopters and fighting in the jungle wasn't bad.

Beyond premature.

They have a lot to prove with this game.

Wolverine is not within their wheelhouse based on games they've made before.

They've never done a great melee game. Wolverine does not fit open world or gadgets.

Wolverine has interesting enemies but depending on the time period of the game, some may or may not make sense. From enemy selection to gameplay, to game length and scope... they have a lot of challenges on their hands.

I'd envision the layout to be more like TLOUP2 rather than pure open world, though maybe he gets a motorcycle at some point, but it would be a mistake to make this a motorcycle driven game no pun intended.

I can't remember the last game that was successful that was pure melee. Maybe Wolverine ends up getting a bow and arrow at some point, but not sure if that is in character for him. Melee tends to get boring after a while with nothing else to mix in. The game has to go much further than say a Sifu.

If god exist, insomniac is gonna try something new with the combat instead of ripping off the free flow from other games, but who i'm kidding...

It's not a niche opinion after their Spiderman 2 showing. Atleast not on gaf. They are 'productive' because they are just repurposing assets to make the same fucking games. Miles Morales was glorified dlc, and Spiderman 2 looks no different. They are the ubisoft of sony.

It's actually a niche opinion even here on Gaf (you're confusing the vocal minority with the majority).

And if you think that Gaf represents even a meaningful fraction of the mainstream gaming market... then...

There's definitely mixed feeling about my opinion on Insomniacs Wolverine games, mostly people thinking im wrong for anticipating it.

It's not like Ive dreamt and thought about it everyday for the past 2 years, because I haven't lol

I'm not sure of what cult comment was made I must've skimmed past it but I really don't like getting involved in arguments over videogames, when there's a concept or game in development that seems like it'll be my kind of experience I'll anticipate it. Just like I did growing up. If I didn't already have a PS5 Im pretty sure I would get one just for Wolverine, hell I even have a Wolverine tattoo!! I'm a huge fan!

The whole point of this thread was to see what games would get you to purchase the PS5..or any current console really. Fable was the reason I bought a Series X...and I haven't even seen what it looks like yet...I just know Playground Games will do their best to deliver, just like Insomniac
