Kay Plays |OT|

Wow, nice work in World 4. Those Black Phantoms are tough sunzabritches.
So she's all finished?

Oh, and kay don't you realize by now someone is killing your allies? It's a good olec ase of whodunit.

Who does
Yurt
kill first of the real NPCs?

I've a feeling it's going to take at least one death for Kay to do what should've been done at the cages in 3-2. I always push the SOB off the edge! Also interested to see if she meets Mephistopheles, hope so!

In order:
Freke's Apprentice
Patches
Saint Urbain and the Acolyte of God
Sage Freke
Yuria

Come on guys. Good thing she's already done, because even tagged these spoilers are extra spoilery.
It doesn't take much imagination to figure out a character whose name is that short and WOW at the rest that tell all.

If you wanna respect the Kay, you tag everything or don't talk about it.

You aren't helping either by quoting the whole offending posts!

I edited my own thing and fixed the tags better.

I thought about that, but she's done now, right?

...Hrm... yaaah I better spoiler that whole thing just in case she isn't.
Better safe than sorry.

I would guess she's not watching any Bloodborne trailers. I don't think she watched anything for Dark Souls 2 or 1 or Demons. When she goes in blind she means it.
Maybe, but it's probably different when you have to buy a console to play it. A little to wet her whistle might go over well.

People have been better for this DeS run about staying away from spoilers than the previous 2 games. I love how she refused to cut tails in DaS1 because it was spoiled.

Woah what happened? Episode 33, all worlds are black. Some sort of black tendency event? I know From did these from time to time so people could see more of the content without actually having to game the stupid system.

I think Atlus actually controls it in the US (then again, she's on the Asian version? Not sure how that works, might depend on game or location)

And it really wouldn't surprise me if someone from Atlus had been watching Kay's progress and bumped it into Pure Black for her.

Today's episode was a good fight.

Yeah, it's lame they went ahead and summoned the AI for her in the second round. The game should hold off on that until you actually enter the fog door if there's no player yet.

Kay, you're much better at PvP than you think. You fended off the two of them and almost killed the Blue Phantom twice! And I'll never forget in Dark Souls 2 when you destroyed the invaders on the Iron Keep rooftop.

And if you're done recording, it's already too late, but I believe you might be able to make your world tendency whiter by helping other players defeat their bosses (Using the Blue Eye Stone)

The talk about horror games kind of surprised me. A lot of people seem to think 3-1 is scary, and she didn't seem bothered by it. Admittedly, it's not in the realm of Silent Hill, but I think the reason people ask her to play that series is it's probably the closest to the Souls games in terms of it's story telling. It certainly has more traditional cutscenes, but there's still a ton of lore material attached to item descriptions and puzzle wording than is typical.

I wonder what she is going to play once she's cleared the Souls games, what's Batman without the Joker?

I understand her anxiety in the chest feeling. I used to get that in Silent Hill games too. I recall shivering the basement with a feeling of utter dread while playing Silent Hill 2. Haha.. good times? I like to think so.

But... Demon's Souls is a lot like a survival horror game. I certainly played it that way back in the day. Dark and Dark 2 are much less like it.

But yeah, I totally vote she should play the old Silent Hill games, or any other survival horror from back in the day. That stuff is great and Stuburns, like you say, there's lore and things to read and deduce.

Honestly I can't think of a better type of game she ought to play next. It's so fitting to her play style.

I'd definitely continue watching Kay if she played an older survival horror game.. Silent Hill or the old RE. I can't think of many modern games I'd care to watch her play though. I can barely be bothered to play modern games myself.

You hear me Kay!? You know you have to do it! It's your destiny and whatnot.

Yeah I agree theres not many modern games Id want to see her play. Far too much is just handed on a silver platter to make use of her analytic skills.

Silent Hill games really would be the perfect games for her play style but I completely understand if she chooses not to.

Hopefully she moves on to SOTC

Best guess is an online World Tenancy event. Certain times From would have special events that would cause world tendencies to shift to pure white or black.

That was neat that she got to experience the pvp Old Monk as a surprise. That OM person was acting weird at the start, they kept swinging and swinging way out of range, I wonder if they were trying to make themselves look like AI or something.

The people on the server Kay is playing on seem better than the NA one, I haven't been invaded much but almost every single time my equipment breaks. I wish they prevented grass healing, especially for that OM fight.

Hopefully Bloodborne will have more PvP activity for Kay when she plays it. DaS1 she played off line, DaS2 botched up invasions and DeS she played too late.

I was screaming at the screen: "Talk to Ostrava! Talk to Ostrava!" and then "Don't take off the hat! Don't take off the hat!" and still then "Look. Up! Look. Up!"

I can't believe she took that hat off :(

Watching her (or anyone really) come upon some of the more obscure stuff like this in the game is like watching someone dance blindfolded around a pile of gold. Or snakes.

If she doesn't find you-know-who I will just be as heartbroken as the time she didn't find baby Sif.

I sincerely doubt she saves you-know-who. >_> I'm already letting myself get ready for disappointment. Like her most frustrating thing, that almost caused me to have an ulcer was the hidden wall in the Chasm. I like to hope she doesn't do that again.

Welp, RIP you-know-who, it was close but ultimately not meant to be ;_;

It was VERY close.. Unnervingly close. Painfully close.

What struck me as interesting was that she didn't do her usual scan of the area with the camera. Certainly she would have seen something.

I guess all that treasure was convincing as a reward.

So why does the Tower guy also have the Phalanx weapon?
Did they originally intend to put the Longbow personality in as a boss but never got around to it?

Huzzah! Good episode.
Awaiting the conclusion tomorrow!

Kay, you should post in this thread now that you've finished.

And... let's get down to business... Next game needs to be one of the old Silent Hill games.. Just has to be. Ya gotta do eet! Anything else would be insulting to your smart play style. There are games, and then there are good video games that don't insult your intelligence.. And most games are just low brow, hand holding crap.

Demon's Souls isn't.. Dark Souls isn't. And Silent Hill isn't.

Humm...isn't his father King Allant ? o.O

His father is King Allant, yeah.

Not sure what Alimnassor is talking about.

He says 'My father is up above.. All that's left of him is a demon.. etc etc.. Go get the swords and kill him'

Pretty clear if you ask me.

What does "Soul Absorved" do? do you just lose some souls on your soul counter or do you actually "level down" one of your stats? Cant find anything on the wikis

First I've heard of this. Watching her Dark Souls run now...still early on near the Firelink Shrine. The beginning was a bit frustrating to watch but it's really satisfying seeing her being so analytical and making so much progress so quickly.

edit: there's a blacksmith in New Londo? What the hell? After a hundred hours in this game I can't believe I never found him.

You level down.
It removes the last level you got (1 at a time, however many times you get grabbed) regressing back to base potentially.

I had spent enough points on endurance to be able to roll with Garl's armor for example, but Allant absorbed those levels and i found myself fat rolling mid fight.

Holy crap, are they permanently gone?
