Kay Plays |OT|

Noticed this update on her youtube channel today.

tl;dr - I do expect I'll get back into a gaming state of mind at some point, but don't hold your breath.

What happened was two things.

First, the old laptop I used to do all my recordings on died, and we bought a brand spanking new gaming desktop. But the thing's been a total nightmare. Several problems that hampered my recording schedule for a while. Like the computer simply turning off in the middle of gameplay, for example. Had it sorted for a bit -- that's why a few episodes of the DS3 playlist exist -- but it quickly went downhill again.

Also, we had life stuff going on that pulled me away from the computer. Some of it was good! Like, we sort of maybe got married. What were we thinking! And sometime during the Valkyria LP and the start of the DS3 LP were we doing a lot of traveling for the Dem primaries. Some of the news isn't so good. Lost a grandparent, and had a very good friend sort of go off the rails. So, like it does, life got hectic and provided too many distractions from computer games.

My interests tend to be all-consuming but periodic. I'll have games on the mind for a year, then it'll be books and I'll tear through an entire library. I have twenty audiobooks on my phone right now, with twice as many finished over the last couple months. Next it'll be recipes. Or music. Or writing. Or something weird I don't expect. :) I promise you all that whenever the gaming bug sinks its teeth, I'll record the carnage.

But I can't promise it'll be soon. I know that's crummy news for you as an audience, and that long breaks like this can be a death knell for a budding YouTube channel. This whole YouTube thing was an experiment in the first, recording a new hobby, and I never ever expected to reach the number of fans we did. It's not one of those mega-channels, but still ten thousand of you followed along, which is both pride-swelling and worrying. When you've got a growing, engaged audience, you want to please them. As it got harder to stick to a regular schedule, and later to play at all, I realized that expectation was adding stress, and I took a step away.

Fire fades and only embers remain. But we all know what happens next. ^_^v

In the last year I noticed that the number of subs seemed to remain consistent as people are there for your comeback, whenever that will happen eventually. Me and my now wife, got eventually "sort of" married this year too, so I can relate. You're a joy to watch and listen to, keep on keepin' on Kay, whatever are your goals in life.

I checked out the first Dark Souls III video from Kay because I want to get into the series, and I want to support women in gaming wherever possible. Unfortunately, I really cannot get into any sort of playthrough with this slow a pace. Games are just a small part of my life, and I play through them very quickly. I don't have the patience to sit through somebody spending five minutes reading about every "face preset". I found another playthrough with a much quicker pace and it was more to my liking.

Nevertheless, I get the appeal if you have the patience for it. Just not my cup of tea.
I'm really glad you bumped this thread and got a lot of hopes up just so you could talk shit.
