Kentucky Route Zero FINALLY 50% off!

Not sure if I want to play parts of such a game before the entire thing is available. Usually I prefer marathoning the entire game. Did the same with the Walking Dead game.

I think someone mentioned David Lynch when describing this game. That's enough for me. Bought it from the humble store, installing now.

About fucking time.

Soooooo first Giana Sisters, then Kentucky Route Zero. What's next, Rogue Legacy for 40% off?

Reminds me of a few sales back when everyone was waiting for V:TM Bloodlines to go on daily sale, and it never did so everyone bought on the last day, only to see it get a massive discount two weeks later.

Holy shit. That would be amazing.

How long is each episode?

It really depends. Theres an open world element with a lot of interesting stuff to explore. It's the kind of thing that you can main line and finish pretty quickly, but if you go out and experience everything it has to offer it can offer a much more full experience.

I bought this on the last day of the steam sale, from their humble store. Oh well.

As an adventure gamer, it's absolutely fantastic and has exceeded my expectations! I hope the devs can keep it up.

How do you buy it from dev's site? I don't see any option.

Click the Humble Link instead of Steam.

Edit: Yeah, its not technically "their" website via Humble, but they get a bigger cut.

Thanks for the heads up! Purchased from their site via the humble store. I've been waiting to jump on this and kept hoping it would win in the Steam flash sale.

I like this outcome better. More for the devs.

Thank you again!

I'm super duper interested in this game, and I hope to play it by the time all 5 acts are out, but I'm backlogged to hell and I think I can wait for the next time it goes on sale.

Sigh.

Just fiddled a little with the Limits and Demonstrations "demo" and RadeonPro, and I've found that using SMAA on it's highest setting does the trick. If you add that I'm running the game at 1440p in a 1080p screen (I don't remember how it was called), the image comes crisp and without any jaggies.

Do you guys know of an image hosting website I can upload 10 MB pictures?

Hopefully I dont forget to pick it up tomorrow.

Bought it during the steam sale... I think it's a strong recommendation when I say that at 25% off it was more than worth it.

Buy this.

http://minus.com/ and http://abload.de/ are both hosts that can handle very large images, though I know minus recently reduced some size limits.

This game is ridiculously overpriced. Single episode has like 20 minutes worth of gameplay and they want 5 bucks for it?

yeah game looks interesting but even at 50% off its over priced will consider it the Christmas steam sale...

Is the soundtrack the Steam version comes with for all the acts? Or just the first two?

They release the soundtrack with each chapter automatically to your steam folder. Act II's soundtrack took about a week and a half to show up because of some things that needed to be arranged. It's only available in v0 mp3 though, if you are a whore for details you might end up wanting to grab the bandcamp uploads since those are available in FLAC.

I guess it might be somewhere near that if you do absolutely nothing but critical path stuff but each episode took me ~3 hours. It's very visual novel-y and it lends itself to replays in the same manner as a good book or film.

Hofmann had already sold me on this before, but the bandcamp selections from Act 1 put me over the edge! Looking forward to diving into the first two Acts soon.

People from europe also save ca. 3€ this way.

Not everyone in Europe uses the euro currency, which leads to different scenarios, like f.ex. here in Norway where Euro-Steam is still cheaper.

Website: 12.49 USD = 73.31 NOK
Steam: 7.99 Euro = 69.83 NOK

:)

Damn, I am sort of a quality stickler. Guess I'll just grab 'em on bandcamp if I like the soundtrack (skipped around a bit and I like what I hear so far).

I tend to make it a habit to check the developer's website first to see if there is a link for the Humble Store and an included Steam key. That way they get a bigger cut and I get a Steam key, PLUS it adds another game to my Humble Bundle account. Win/win/win.

But anyway, bought!

Keep in mind that despite devs getting bigger cuts from people buying the indie games from their own sites or Humble, the Steam top sellers list is a powerful little thing that when climbed by a game leads to way more awareness and sales.

Really want this but will wait for the entire thing to come out, I can't deal with not jumping immediately to the next episode in these kind of games.

Considering who currently is top seller, I'd say it doesnt hurt the devs too much that they get a few % more from people buying via Humble because of this thread :p

In terms of gameplay and pricing it's very similar to The Walking Dead. You're buying a season pass for five episodes.

When you really get down to it, Kentucky Route Zero is a western visual novel.

Also, I think the humble version of this game includes the soundtrack.

I'm not quite sure if I want to pick it up. I don't know if I could wait months for each release. Have they planned on releasing all five acts by the end of the year?
