Kid saves dad, demands a ps3

But the difference is you'd be rewarding her out of gratitude not because she expected it. I think the reactions would be much different if the dad said "I asked him what he wanted and he replied 'A Playstation 3!!!'"

We don't know the entire story though. Maybe the dad said he'd get him a PS3 for christmas and now he thinks he should get it now or something. I'd probably do the same thing when I was 9.

Kid's a greedy little shit. It's not enough he actually saved his dad, he thinks he's a hero and deserved something. Newsflash kid: your dad is alive, that's a hell of a lot more than what you would have had.

The reactions would be different if that was the case, but I still don't think it's wrong for nine year-old to ask for a reward after doing something heroic. It's normal.

Ding. It's a one line quote and probably the most inconsequential thing in the entire news story.

Newsflash: You're not as understanding of people and mannerisms as you'd like to think.

THE KID IS 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he was most likely was asking for it before the incident, calm down people you all act big but everyone here was probably a little shit when they were his age.

LMAO @ some of the posts in this thread...

The dad was obviously planning to reward his son anyway (I mean the kid saved his life for crying out loud) and he probably asked him what he wanted. Plus he is 9 years old... cut him some slack here. Somehow I get the feeling if the kid had said he wanted a Wii things would be a LOT different in this thread. :lol

Also at least he deserves a PS3, unlike 90% of the kids out there who ask their parents for expensive shit for no reason.

you expect humility from a 9 year old?

Okay, judging by some of the original responses in here, I better clarify that I was kidding before this escalates out of hand. :P

I dunno...When I was a kid I would have preferred to have my dad over any toy. Guess I'm weird like that.

do you really have such a negative view on things?

its not like he had a choice of saving his dad or a PS3...he saved his dad and now he is saying he wants a PS3 and is taking advantage of the situation, like a normal kid would.

This is my take. If a 15 year old had made the same demand, then yes, I think there's cause for criticism. At 9 years old, what the heck, cut the kid some slack and let him grow up.

Exactly. At that age, do people really expect humility out of him? He did say he was a hero, after all.

Edit: The true villain is the father. How dare he not offer a reward! What an ungrateful spaz.

On a different note, I'm really surprised that a kid that age would want a PS3. Both the PS3 and the 360 always felt like they were aimed at an older audience.

Wait...How is "being happy nobody was hurt is my reward" being negative?

pretty much.

around his age I was watching Power Rangers and Batman, and if I did a good deed and someone asked me if I was a hero, I would reply yes also and I would demand a Neo Geo.

because you make it seem like a 9 year old kid would fully understand death and what would have happend if his father did die then.

That's not at all what what you said comes off as. If you don't know that, try again. Jesus christ.

I'm not, the PS3 is for kids, Wii for elderly.

He saw LittleBigPlanet and knew he had to get it.

I agree completely. There's a huge difference there.

Maybe he already has a Wii and a 360 and is going for the trifecta... Spoiled little brat!

GAF: What a greedy little shit.

GAF: The kid is 9.

GAF: WHAT A GREEDY LITTLE SHIT

GAF: THE KID IS 9!

GAF: WHAT A GREEDY LITTLE SHIT!

GAF: THE KID IS 9!!!!!

That's how you do it kiddo. Just like you watched in cartoons, the hero allways gets the girl, but since you're 9, you get a Ps3.

I know this is the Gaming side but there cannot be this many dumbasses here, it's gotta be a set of elaborate joke posts. Has to be.

All I'm saying is the kid seems like he's using this as an excuse like "hey, I saved you, now you give me a PS3." That's the way it comes off to me.

Kids always want what the "big boys" are playing.

HE'S NINE YEARS OLD. RELAX.
No shit, some of you should go have a nap or pull the giant stick out of your ass or something.

Jesus christ you people love to run with a little innocent line like it's the end of times.
Fuck "Believe", this needs to be our damn slogan. :lol

I'd give my kid whatever the hell he fucking wants if he saved my life.

Some of you people rather die than buy your kid a ps3, :lol :lol :lol

Notice it said the kid said he thinks he deserves his ps3 now. This means the dad has already agreed to purchase the ps3 for his son prior to the life saving incident. Of course the fanboys will see ps3 and run with it......

As said before we don't know the full story, could be that he always wanted one, has been nagging his parents for ages and since the accident has idly dropped it into conversation once or twice.

However, I do wish news stories would focus more on the people who DON'T do the right thing, as a kind of shame thing. The kid's going to be treated like a hero for a while and it will always be one of his key memories but at the end of the day why should he be rewarded for doing the right thing? If he hadn't he would have lost his father if not his own life too, seems like a "duh i defnitly shud do this rite" situation. I believe in incentives for doing the right thing but there should be a point where you say "what, you want a reward? for doing the only proper thing? go to your room and think about that a second"

Ehh, I can't find the right words but this irks me. Not this kid, just life in general.

only heroes want ps3s.

don't you want to be a hero?
I'd love to become an hero!

Also...
Dad is an arse, the money he saved on medical bills alone makes it worth it for him to buy the kid a PS3. The kid should be taught that doing good things like saving people's lives is a viable means of extortion!

and funeral costs, duh

Serious question:

Does the PS3 have any games for a 9 year old?
At the Moment, the kid would be better off getting nothing rather than a PS3.
