I love Hayter, but this is getting a little much. It's kind of immature at this point... or he's being really cool and just playing along until an E3 reveal.
Hopefully we get MGS1 HD Remake from it lol

I wonder if Hayter can understand that. They replaced him with a mega star, can't be too sad.
Kojima sounds like he's been corrupted by the dark power of Hollywood.
Konami just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about video game culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in Hollywood where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in video games, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the video game public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase MGSV for either system, nor will they purchase any of Konami's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Konami has alienated an entire market with this move.
Konami, publicly apologize and cancel Kiefer Sutherland as Snake or you can kiss your business goodbye.
I think it was a union/SAG thing at the time.
Pretty much all the actors did, even Jennifer Hale.
I just posted that I believed he would return at some point as well, but after seeing these tweets... not so much. It definitely makes me view him a little differently.
Who knows, all bets are off. Next time it's Tom Cruise and nobody would be allowed to complain.Well obviously not, because now Kiefer Sutherland is the voice of Snake, and probably will be for future games too.
so yeah. that's how it works.

Also, didn't Hayter go under a different name for MGS1 because he didn't want his professional name attached to a videogame?
Not trying to start rumors, or tie bad news to him, but this talk of him being revered and respectful to the series has got me thinking.
I can't tell if this is serious or not. Help me out here.
Good bye MGS... I'll miss you... Kinda.

Tailored trends are making that so. Turn them off.
Did I read someone here saying people who don't mind Hayter being gone aren't actual Metal Gear fans?
Welp
Feels like he is burning bridges to be honest, like the 'new coke' comment. I'm sure it may be intended as a joke but he still seems bitter.
If he does end up voicing Solid Snake or something, it won't be like a 'lol I got you' it'll just make him seem like a douche.
Why are people OK with a famous character's voice being changed? This isn't at all like James Bond. The Bond series is largely based on Ian Fleming's books, and as a book adaption its understandable to want to bring in a different actor every few years in order to have a fresh take on the source material. Its not the same with video game or cartoon characters. What if Charles Martinet were replaced with Danny Devito? How would people react if Bugs Bunny were suddenly given a new voice? This turnaround from being pissed at Kojima to hailing his decision to replace Hayter as genius is sickening.
He isn't the one who burned the bridges. He's just pissing on the ashes.

We'll remember Hayter as Snake, but it's not like Sutherland is a few steps down. I'm interested in seeing how his Snake is.
This is a sad line of thinking.
It's hard to imagine them as fans. Hayter is the most iconic voice of the franchise. If they're fine with removing him from the franchise, I don't see how they could possibly call themselves fans. It would be like saying you're a fan of Pizza but they should remove the sauce, cheese and toppings. At that point it's not Pizza anymore.

He is a putz. I can understand people's reverence for him is from 24, but seriously, watch Touch.
You guys are being so fucking trolled by Hayter and Kojima right now it's hilarious.
I'm being entirely serious. I can probably only fit a few games into my schedule now, and I don't really enjoy them as much as I used to. If there's something that irks me about a game, it's very easy for me to remove it from "the list".Lol I'm just thinking to myself that at least a few people my age share my line of thinking, and giving my reasoning thereafter. I'm sure it will still sell millions, but maybe to a new generation of gamers, as one bigger question I have is whether or not this will still play like MGS or be more like Call of Solid.
Oh god phrasing.
I'd prefer Hayter honestly. Good actor does not necessarily mean good voice actor-plenty examples of this.
We'll see I guess.
Hayter hatin'
