I hung out with Kiefer at a TIFF party a couple years ago. He was joking around and playing with some huge feather all night. Guy is hilarious. He'll fit in just fine.

Yeah. I may be pissed at Kojima, but even I'm not crazy enough to think there's some sort of troll going on. Kojima's a dick, not buying the game, moving on. The extra $60 will be worth a few whiskeys or something.

I'm curious as to how much more they are paying Sutherland than they would have paid Hayter. If it is a significant amount I would have rather them put that money to use elsewhere (funding another game or something). Part of the reason budgets are getting out of control is that publishers are spending money when they don't need to. No one was asking for Hayter to be replaced and I seriously doubt this move is going to sell more copies of the game. Not like there are many people out there who had no interest in MGS5 who suddenly are interested b/c Sutherland is doing the voice. Seems like a huge waste to me. But what do I know?

The success of others absolutely infuriates me.
As a fan, I see the reasoning for changing actors. Having mocap involved along with a demand for subtler performances would probably be outside of Hayter's limits as a VA.

To be honest they should have used Richard Doyle as the VO and had whomever as the mocap actor. Keep Hayter as Solid.

I get the hate that Hayter should be snake. I'm new to the Metal Gear series (and LOVE it) so I haven't been there since the beginning on PS1 with Hayter.
That said, as I played through the games in order of release recently, Hayter's snake, especially in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, was getting worse and worse. His Solid Snake in MGS2 and Big Boss in MGS3 were legendary to me. I couldn't get past the forced grittiness of his recent snake voices. (I can understand Metal Gear Solid 4, Snake wasn't in the best condition)
I hope Sutherland will do Snake justice and go back to a less gritty MGS123 voice. What I've seen from Kiefer in voice acting has been pretty good so far. That and Kojima wouldn't pick someone he didn't think could do it.
Again, this is coming from a Metal Gear newbie. If I was a lifelong fan, I'm sure I'd feel differently.
(Also, Hayter's whining on social media isn't doing him any favor in my eyes.)
