The original games had a roster of 11, so if you assume that this game will expand to at least that, you're looking at $35 for Killer Instinct. That's actually a really decent price point.

No. It says first 8, implying more are coming in the future. Buying the game in full at launch just entitles you to the first batch.

I'm disappointed we get less starting characters than the original KI, but like I said... as long as I'll get my Spinal, I'll be content. I can do without T.J. Combo, Eyedol and ...... ***** Can we just replace Chief Thunder?

To me a lower roster might lead to much better balancing. Time will tell, but to suggest the game would have a higher level of polish because it has 20+ characters is wrong.
