dat tech trailer music.

So good. It sounds like a mix of the The Dark Knight Rises with some of the stuff Rockstar's been doing this gen. I really hope there's more of that in the game. Edit: Someone mention Amon Tobin's stuff from Splinter Cell, and I can definitely hear that as well.

I could kiss you Shinobi. Goodness gracious! Those two vids. All my orifices.....

One thing though: I'd rather take a lesser dense geometry to minimize LoD pop in at this point to be honest. I really hope that Sony's ICE team finds cheap and efficient ways to use tessellation and we can really mitigate this visual annoyance.

Off to make GIFs.

In a few years IQ and LOD are going to be everything when it comes to graphics.

This looks absolutely phenomenal right now, but it would look like a CG movie @4K with proper AA and no pop-in/flickering.

I have had that tech trailer song on repeat all day. Shit has such an intense build up! Sets a perfect tone for the killzone franchise.

So does the clip of a battle on a ruined Helghan suggest that Stahl may be alive, in hiding on Helghan, and arming the Black Hand?

It's entirely possible to make a fantastic-looking game WITHOUT the use of such cheap post processing effects. It of course takes talent, which these guys don't seem to have. I've never been a fan of the Killzone visual style, to be honest.

The level of technical and artistic ability to create this game is among the best in the industry. They current have the best looking game to date, a title they'll likely keep until Naughty Dog shows up to the party.

If you think properly utilizing post processing affects, creating amazing texture work, incredible models, and wrapping it all into one cohesive art style, isn't talent, you clearly know nothing about art in the game industry.

I am pretty sure it is in ingame just as they did in Mercenary. You probably have some control over the direction you look in.
afaik, the game has no pre-rendered videos. Actually, I can't say for sure, all I remember is they said all cutscenes are from 1st person view, but that doesn't mean they won't be pre-rendered.

The game's ~40GB size sure suggests there might be video files involved though.

Seriously, did You only read pre-rendered and hit reply? I havent said this is pre-rendered in KZ:SF, I said that on current-gen it would not pass as CGI, but as in-engine pre-rendered video.

There is nothing in this scene that could be even considered CGI.

Very interesting to hear. Answers some of my questions then :D
Very interested in their next publication. It will be great read for sure.

Song in Tech Trailer is outstading. Cant stop listening to it.

Fair enough I stand corrected. Don't agree that it could pass as in-engine pre-recorded though. The quality of the assets and density of the scene are better than anything I have seen this gen.

HOLY

FUCKING

SHIT

Incredible. Love the art. PLEASE do an art book, Sony. Let Blue Canvas do it. For the love of God, make a book. Jesus H Christ on a stick. Fuck me sideways.

Next-goddamn-gen peeps. I can't wait to play this on Friday.

You forgot to add /troll or /s to the end of your post right?

Density is great, but geometry is extremely low poly, textures are abysmal on those buildings, smoke is nothing to talk about and rest of the scene is so far away that it could be rendered as sprites and You wouldnt see the difference.
Dont get me wrong, it looks great and does the job, but i dont see anything that couldnt be done on current gen consoles in 720p in for example 7-10fps. Sure, You couldnt render that on PS3 or X360 in real-time, but pre-render it like ND or SSM does cutscenes, why not?

I felt the dark knight as well. Like bane came back in the year 3000.

Hmmm.... I wonder why didn't GG do it on PS3 then.

Hmmm....

I am going to have to go there. You seem to have a remarkable ability to pick out the slightest flaw on anything that isn't crytek related. And yet, many of the same criticisms could be leveled at the Ryse tech demonstations (low poly assets in places, shimmering, texturing inconsistancies, as are common to all Crytek games) and yet not a peep out of you. You seem to have some compulsion to jump on the slightest flaw, and yet fawn over Ryse.

All the things you have enumerated, low poly compared to what? Texturing and poly count look much better than equivalent scenes in games such as Uncharted and TLoU given the scale.

As for the 720p at 7fps...well Crysis 3 on PS3 doesnt quite reach that low, but it doesnt reach 720p either. And this looks far more impressive than that game.

I noticed this too.

Agreed.

Ok, now where have i said that Ryse looks like CGI?

---
But You want Ryse comparison? Ok, look at Ryse cutscene and water physics, that couldnt be done on current gen consoles, even with pre-render, because they dont have tesselator. In KZ:SF scene we are talking about, there is absolutely nothing from tech standpoint that couldnt be done on current gen platform.
And calling it CGI or almost CGI is stupid. Calling Ryse cutscenes CGI is stupid too.

---
Hmmm.... I wonder why didn't GG do it on PS3 then.

Hmmm....

Because most of their cutscenes were real-time? And those that werent, had only SSAO added and stable framerate.

Ok, now where i said that Ryse looks like CGI?

I am not saying you did, nor am I saying your criticisms are necessarily incorrect. Just that I find it a little tiresome that you spread your criticisms rather unevenly. Of course you are entitled to do that.

Probably comparing either of these games to cgi is doing them a disservice though. They both look very impressive to me and make me excited to see the level of visuals delivered by devs in a year or two.

Oh my!! O.O ... and that music in the tech trailer!!! incredible.

Anyone that doubts GG is not at the top of the ladder in tech is a fool. Someone in some other thread mentioned that KZSF can't compete with CryEngine or Metro technically. I say it looks better than them if they all run at the same level of hardware. This is just incredible.

I hope this game plays well too and has good story because I want it to score in high 90s...GG deserves it for their hard work.

Edit: the rain looked much much better in the tech demo

But i havent even started to criticized KZ:SF. I've said basically nothing except that it doesnt look like CGI and that it does look real-time.
I havent even commented on tech trailer yet in this thread. You're over-sensitive.

Btw this is what i'm talking about. I found an example of Mass Effect 3 pre-rendered in-engine cutscene.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFVSJZ37u5Q

Of course this would run worse than in 7-10fps on current gen platforms, because its more demanding scene than the one in KZ:SF.

You never seize to amaze lol.

Ofcourse you didn't, these things you didn't say above were particularly funny. Specially the texture and far away remarks lol.

Are you saying GG don't have talent? Bollix up.
