Kingdom Come: Deliverance confirmed for PS4/Xbox One [CryEngine 3, open-world RPG]

Was waiting for this, yessssss.
Coming to Consoles!

This is going to be a brief but very important update. We originally announced our game for PC and next gen console. While we never doubted our technical ability to do it, we were not sure about the actual publishing and distribution. In the last console generation, it just wasn’t possible to have a game on console without an official publisher.

In this generation it’s going to be different though. We had lot of discussion with both Microsoft and Sony in the past weeks and we are happy to announce that the game concept of Kingdom Come: Deliverance was approved by both Sony and Microsoft for the next gen platform (PS4 and Xbox One).

Both companies are very eager to work with independent developers now and were really helpful in speeding up the whole process. We were provided with devkits and will get cracking on the console version right away.

It also appears that we will be able to publish the game on consoles at least digitally ourselves, without publishers. We shall see about the physical/retail publishing, we may be able to do it ourselves, or we may make a deal with another company to do it, this remains to be seen.

What does it mean for you?

If you backed a tier with digital copy of the game, you can choose any platform you want, on any tier.
If you backed a tier with boxed copy and want a console version, we can send you the box and other goodies, depending on your tier. If at all possible, we will give you the disk with the game, otherwise you will get the digital version.
The Alpha version access is confirmed for Windows version only. We are working with other platform holders to see if it could be made available there, but we cannot promise anything yet.
The Beta access will be available on Windows, Linux and Mac at least; it may also be available on consoles but we cannot confirm it yet.

We will inform you about the availability of the game on different platforms as we get closer to these dates and you will be able to adjust your choice of platforms accordingly.

Cool. Glad it's coming to "current" gen consoles. :) Looks great for an indie developer, and glad they can self-publish (at least digitally anyways).

Fuck me, this is an indie developer? By god.
Depends what you consider indie really. They have like 40 employees and are funded by a private investor...but they are self publishing...so I guess it depends what your definition of indie is.

Edit: to be clear, yes I consider them indie, but they have money and lots of staff so the work they are delivering is to be expected from me much more so than other indie studios

They wanted to do it but said they aren't saying for sure, so this is confirmation.

It does look pretty fantastic for an indie game as well.
They posted a status update a couple weeks ago that the X1 version was confirmed with MS so I guess the new news is Sony approved it, which shouldn't have been much a concern with anyone really since Sony is always on top of this stuff.

Good to see it "final" though.

Is this a digital only title for next-gen i.e. PSN/XBLA? I would love to back this but the idea of Act II being $125+ away is disconcerting. Regardless, this would be a great start; 30 hours gameplay for Act I is awesome.

I got the same feeling. It looks...very mod'ish, although perhaps not even i know what thats supposed to mean

It's an indie game man. It doesn't look amazing, but I'll take it 100x before I take another stupid ass retro pixel art vomit game.

I'll get it on PS4 if the price is right.

Yes indeed, what they have shown so far looks beyond promising. I'll be all over this game and it's open world CryENGINE goodness.

The graphics are as bland as can possibly be, but that's to be expected with a small team attempting a big world. More interested in how it plays, if it's less janky than Skyrim it could be a fun run.

Will be very interesting to see what another developer can achieve using CryEngine 3.

Ryse, for all its faults, was a very visually impressive game.
