TOKYO-- According to the latest issue of weekly Jump magazine, Square Enix has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts II will be released for the PlayStation 2 in 2005. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the Game Boy Advance, on the other hand, is scheduled to ship this fall.

This week's issue of Jump also claims that popular Final Fantasy characters such as Squall, Yuffie, and Aerith, who made cameo appearances in Kingdom Hearts, will be doing the same in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. The magazine also states that at least five Final Fantasy characters will be appearing in Kingdom Hearts II, including Auron from Final Fantasy X.

In anticipation of the two upcoming Kingdom Hearts titles, Square Enix will be hosting a "Kingdom Hearts Premiere Party" in Japan on August 26 and 27. Visitors to the event, which is strictly an invitation-only affair, will get to watch live stage shows, check out special scenes from the games, and get hands-on with playable demos of both titles. The event will mark the first time that Kingdom Hearts II has been shown in playable form.

Kingdom Hearts II is gonna be going up against Final Fantasy XII, eh?

FFXII will lose (sales wise).

It'll be interesting with Zelda XII vs. FFXII vs. KHII for Xmas 2005.

So
Winter 04 - DQVIII
Spring 05 - FFXII
Summer/Fall 05 - KHII

That's one hell of a lineup...

God I hope they'll have at least a couple of nonNomura created characters in this. Even though I'm a big fan, restricting the FF roster to come out of 3 (and a 1/2 for X-2) games kinda sucks.

im really looking forward to FFXII actually more than kingdom hearts 2
dont get me wrong, kingdom hearts is a wonderful game but i can say that i enjoyed FFX a little bit more if not the same amount as kingdom hearts
both wonderful games

I can't wait.

There are a few characters with Nomura-created settei in V and VI (like Shadow and Setzer)

One reason there's that restriction (other than it simply being Nomura's game) is that Amano's characters don't translate that well into 3D as shown by the FMV's of his characters in the PSone re-releases.

They're probably have to sooner or later though if the series keeps going, or just start going into other Nomura non FF characters. I wouldn't mind seeing Aya show up. :)

It's not like they have to stick closely to the Amano illustrations in the models (they sure didn't when they made the OBJ graphics for the original games)

i hope they tightened up the control. That was one of the fall backs of the first one to me. When I moved the character around the screen I wanted zelda quality play control, it sort of turned me off =/

Hopefully I still get around to finishing it one day.

Well they could have Nomura redesign those characters for the game, but then you'd have Amano fans complaining about that.
