Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix - help me find Riku

They pretty much say it during the first cutscene with Pete.

Yup.

Fire does a bunch of damage to them.
Blizzard freezes them for a bit.
Thunder paralyzes them for a bit.

The super fun part will be when he gets to Tron and the Devastators. Fuck those guys so hard on Critical.

Going to atlantica :(

currently just mashing x during gummy shit

this is beyond bad

Can't believe you're still plooughing on. That's about as in-depth as the combat gets. The unintelligible story renders this game as having no redeeming factors whatsoever. I'd quit and play something actually decent.

He's not talking about the combat.

Yeah, he's talking about the gummi ship sections, which as much as I love this game, I absolutely hated. I literally did the health gummi thing I just posted so I could do shit on my phone while I waited for the level to complete itself.

That other post gives me drive-by shitpost vibes. :/ Always annoyed by that shit.

I found that it is easier to switch to full auto, put on powerful guns and missiles and focus more on dodging than on aiming and shooting. kinda like a danmaku. Certain gumiship bosses are a real pain if you dont focus on dodging, like the one that is on the path leads to the penultimate area of the game.

When I don't feel like doing the gummi missions I just use a donut.

Is it possible I never did Halloween town? I did tron for sure but don't remember this at all. The art design is super cool.

The um...like...Aladdin level is next and I hate that level. Why do they keep reusing KH1 worlds?

I actually really like KH2 gummi missions.

Same. It actually has a bunch of interesting mechanics and pretty slick presentation too. And the fact that you can just warp to any world you have unlocked the route to makes the actual time spent on Gummi stuff minimal if you don't like it.

The biggest missteps of KH2FM gummis are:

1.Normal routes are too easy and thus not very engaging or exciting at all even on the hardest difficulty.

2.No reward whatsoever in spending time on Gummi stuff that is useful in main game. I would have included at least stuff like synthesis materials for optional way of getting them.

3.Balance issues that break the whole system and all the neat stuff in it. See Donut.

Halloween Town is mandatory I think. Pride Rock is completely skippable.

They keep using em because it's one of the most popular Disney movies and a good excuse to reuse assets and music.

It's possible. You can skip Agrabah, Halloween Town or Pride Lands since you only need to do 2/3 to progress the story. I wouldn't recommend it though since you miss out on EXP, good weapons, and good spells.

Will KH3 have star wars?

Also I can't skip anything because I need the exp. Critical only gives you 3/4ths HP...

Agreed.

I really enjoyed the Gummi Missions in KH2 (especially compared to KH1).

That said, I do agree with the missteps you listed.

It's especially nice when you go back and S-Rank stages with the more powerful ships/upgrades you unlock through the game.

If KH3 has SW world I can't imagine it being anything other than ANH.

BTW Y2Kev did you choose sword, shield or staff at the beginning of the game?

Lightsabers are already canon so sure why not?

Sword. I thought maximizing damage might make critical easier. So far I'd say it has been manageable and fun. I did try one of the absent silhouette levels and just got absolutely blitzed in one hit.

I am so sorry. By choosing the sword you won't get Second Chance until level 85.

oh crap, this means you are going to have to run for awhile without second chance and once more...

EDIT: beaten.

...Good luck y2kev.

Let's just say that when it comes to Critical Mode picking the Sword is by far the hardest route since you get the 2 best defensive abilities later than the others (especially shield). It probably won't be a issue at all until the last world but there might be a roadblock coming around dem parts that you need to just git gud at.

But it wouldn't be fun if it was too easy!

How is the Xigbar battle even beatable without Second Chance and Once More?

I haven't played Critical Mode yet (saving that for the PS4 release), but his major attack was pretty insane on lower difficulties. Unless I assumre reflecting/blocking every laser is actually possible.

Run in circles. It's actually really easy to dodge.

Running+Form abilities (the movement abilities)+reflect make it pretty tame. It might take a while to learn the patterns though.

you run in circles until he starts rapid fire, when does that then you burst a drive form and pray you dont get anti-form. you should survive and be able to punish depending on what from you picked.

Although I'm not worried about him, I 'm more worried about the "WHERE'S THE FUN IN THIS" guy OP is going to run into.

The weird thing about that is that they don't really reuse assets or layouts for the worlds you revisit in KH2 (and they sure as hell won't in kh3). For the most part the worlds you visit again in kh2 are basically all new. As for the music, they are rerecorded or remixed so they don't even "reuse" music in the strictest sense of the term :S

I honestly think the reason there are so many re-worlds is to give a semblence that there is connectivity to sora's adventure and offer familarity as well as a sense of "thing go on past when you first visit" which is honestly pretty good for world building imo.

My main problem with them is that they are used like ass in kh2 compared to kh1. They are either skippable (agrabah, Halloween town part 2, atlantica) or are just boring side stories (often both).

Oddly of the 15 worlds in kh2, only 5 are playable (though with vastly different layouts and gameplay) in kh1.

You can dodge the burst by running in circles too.

I thought so but whenever I attempted to, I'd invariably screw up and get hit somehow, so I just picked the drive option to make it easier.

This thread is making me want to replay through my copy of kh2fm from the start again. I lost my ALL of my save data before I could kill my Moby Dick:
the Lingering will.
I had the silver crown too, so he all that was left. :(

Level 85? How in the world do you get to level 85 considering I'm like level 25 now.

Oogie was trash. Now in Agrabah. Oh look its the same shit

Grinding since most people finish the game around level 50-55. The reason the shield is so good is because you have both Once More and Second Chance once you hit level 49 which eliminates the need for grinding to take on the post game super bosses.

I will never play post game super bosses in any game since post game and side quests are usually trash!

Post game bosses in KH games are the only one I bother with tbh. They're great and challenging.
I still remember the day I beat the ice titan and Sephiroth in KH1.

Take that exception and throw it straight out the window. KH is basically known for its super bosses and sidequest/ postquest bosses. I suggest you seriously reconsider

All I heard about is how one boss in some game basically requires luck. maybe its birth by sleep.

Idt anything in BBS was that luck based.

MF and LSV were both pretty damn hard... until you realize MF can be pwned with thunder blitz and LSV with those damn mines. Otherwise, standard fare hardness in KH.

Can you fight Master Eraqus in armored form in the Mirage Arena in the hd version like u can in the JP bbs final mix?

Birth By Sleep bonus bosses are ''trash'' and that is mostly because the core mechanics don't translate well to good high end boss design.

KH2 has some pretty fun bonus bosses. Not that I'd say you need to actively pursue doing all the side stuff if you want to move on after finishing the game but there are a few really rewarding fights. The other question is if you have the patience to actually learn the fights to be able to tackle them at lower levels since they definately are meant to be done with all the defensive abilities and higher level if you want some room for error.

You can.

KH1 is the best in the series, the gameplay gets a bit better in sequels but it's pretty much all downhill from there. If you can't get into 1 then best just move on and forget the series.

You might be thinking of the optional boss in the PSP version of BBS that was basically luck based. The issue comes from BBS combat mechanics having too many i-frames in dodge, shot-locks and leaf bracer along with second chance + once more basically making everything ridiculously easy. So to make an optional boss challenging, they decided to give him some bullshit attacks that have lots of active frames where you just spam dodge and hope you don't get hit in between your dodges.

I think he got nerfed in the final mix version though (so the version you'll be playing in 2.5) so that he's not as luck-based with that death rope of his.

OK so Agrabah and Port Royal and Nightmare before Christmas all done tonight. I think tomorrow that means pride lands!

ehhh...
if you play the final mix versions (ie: the ones included in the remasters) you'd see that the gameplay and fluidity in kh2:fm is significantly better than kh1:fm. As for story stuff, yeah, KH2 has a super weak first half and the world stories are divided in a way I don't like, and BBS's worlds are just too short for their own good. KH1 has the best blend of both world length and story integration imo. Its story is also the most concise and complete imo (COM comes close though)

When it comes to concise narrative structure and story i'd kind agree, but not really when it comes to gameplay.

That said, if Y2Kev does indeed play BBS eventually, be careful with Terra's storyline. There are 2 VERY VERY cheap bosses that can easily 1-shot you with cheap unblockable moves if you don't have the right abilities (not moves, abilities like once more and second chance). The other campaigns are pretty easy imo.
