Marluxia and Larxene won't be part of the 13 darknesses since they were some of the Original Organizaion members not fit for Xehanortification. Others include Axel (now Lea), Roxas and probably Demyx since Xehanort mentions some members being too weak and he's the weakest one. Ansem's other four apprentices might not make the list either since they're people again in Radiant Garden whereas the nobodies that are part of the True Organization didn't come back as people in Radiant Garden.

I know a lot of players who will disagree with that statement... Oh well, Xehanort never had the chance to challenge Demyx in a fight :3

I just got thinking about Kingdom Hearts & Final Fantasy Versus XIII and how 3D shows what Nomura has mentioned sometimes on how development of KH has affected Versus and vice versa. From what Nomura has said about Versus, you can kind of see the influence in Dream Drop Distance's level designs. While the areas are still filled with invisible walls & stuff and are still kind of limited (most likely due to hardware constraints), more so than Versus' will likely end up being, you can still kind of see hints of the kind of freedom that we might see in Versus (i.e. you can climp up the walls of buildings, check out the roofs of sky skrapers & there are just tons of hidden nooks & crannies). I think The World That Never Was probably gives a bit of foretaste of how Versus XIII's cities will likely end up being. You have the city streets level, then you have the skyscrapers & their rooftops.

Yeah, I played KH2...but that game's combat, story, and content turned me off.

I don't see how a Final Mix version would improve everything, but I've never played it so how would I know.
It adds shittons of content, has some cutscenes that clear things up, has new skills/abilities, is completely rebalanced + adds a new difficulty level. You don't see how that makes KHII FM a much better game than the Vanilla version?

IIRC, I spent hours in climbing Traverse Town roofs in the first KH (as well as Agrabah).

People keep saying KH2 has a bad story. Compared to how simple and clean
HA!
Kingdom Heart's story is, sure, but when compared to the other stories it kinda stands tall.

Is there anything specific to complain about?

People are just mad that they had to spend 2 hours playing as some shmuck they didn't even know.

Seriously why did they do that.

Does anybody know what happened about that rumor that was circulating a while ago of Nomura saying that he wasn't allowed to finish KH3D the way he wanted?

Just look at the main building in Deep Dive (KH1 secet ending) and the building shown in the first Versus trailers and you can clearly see many similarities... I think he's on to something...

lol, I did say I'd never played it so I could not really know if it's indeed a much improved game.

Hoping for a KH HD Collection on PS3 someday with the Final Mix versions of KH 1 and 2.

Clearly Versus is a game Nomura has been wanting to make for a long time.

They had based on CoM and deep dive. I actually enjoyed it more than kh1's fetch quest and having to suffer sofa for the whole game.

Disney didn't like the ending so they had to rewrite it. It probably ended with Sofa having fallen into darkness and being evil, is what I'm thinking

My predictions on KH3:
  • Birth by Sleep heroes will not be playable - for the most part, at least.
  • Amidst the final conflict, Ventus and Roxas say their goodbyes and become one, reforming the X-Blade - unsurprisingly given to Sora for sake of Kingdom Heart's light.
  • Malificent casts her revenge on Master Xehanort, typically doesn't go well for her.
  • Good portion of the worlds are still ones already visited. No signs of Bolt, Tangled, Meet the Robinsons or The Princess and the Frog.
  • Pete saves Mickey, promises never to be mean again.
  • Flowmotion is back, but no wall kicking.
  • No WiiU release. Angry outbursts.
  • Some worlds will actually be populated for once.
  • They'll develop a technique to put Mickey's ears/mouth in correct perspective, at least during cut scenes.
  • It wasn't actually Master Xehanort all along, it was Odio.

I've always wondered why they didn't steal the FFXII idea of hunting rare enemies and have NPCs in each world give quests. It'd add about 20 hours to their playtime. It's one of the few reasons I'd pay for an HD 358/2 Days update.

Yep, with an even more fleshed out mission system, and online multiplayer.

There's really only two or three rooftops in Traverse Town you can climb to in KH1, IIRC, and one of them you have to go to for story-related reasons (the other two just hold treasure chests or something). Compare the Second District of Traverse Town to DDD's Fourth District where you simply just go from running on the street to wall-jumping to a rooftop to sliding to a tower. Before the one or two high places you had access to were much more restricted to, more or less, (un)challenging platforming. As I said, DDD still has the kind of limitations KH series has always had, but to me it seems like a step into the direction Versus is going for, or at least my impression of it (larger playfields instead of just small cramped "rooms", freedom from north to south, west to east, up & down), but in the scope of a KH game.

So are we in agreement that the battle theme for the Country of Musketeers is the best in the game?

Normal battle theme of course, not bosses.

Please don't jinx that...they need a Toy Story world at least for gods sakes.

Haven't watched Tangled, but none of the other 3 movies you listed have a chance of getting in....THo THe Princess and The Frog might have a storyline that Sora could help in, I guess.

Hoping The Incredibles make it....

Nope.

Oop. You're referring to KH3D

It's a tie between that and Sora's Prankster's Paradise battle theme for me, personally.

I do think that KHIII's probably going to revisit worlds (especially if they're revisiting the whole seven princesses thing) but I do think a Pixar world is pretty likely, at the very least. They've said Pixar worlds are something they'd like to do in the future.

So, so catchy, so good.

Well, as I speculated (for the sake of speculation) in the main thread, I expect Mickey to become Xehanort's 13th receptacle in KH3: X motif on his shoes, keyblade from the realm of darkness (which always have bothered me: what is the exact purpose of this key ? They didn't include the distinction between keyblades from the realm of light and keyblades from the realm of darkness for nothing, and Mickey is the only one to possess the later), and a possessed Mickey would really make an awesome (and tragic) boss fight.

As for the playable characters in KH3: the trio Sora/Riku/Kairi will certainly be playable. As for Aqua/Ven, they need to be rescued first, but they're still candidates. Terra is under Xehanort's control, so it's unlikely he will be playable (as a protagonist, that is... Or we could have an extended prologue in which we control Terranort, fighting against the protagonists who went retrieve Ven's body, and Terra is able to regain control over his body thanks to the timely intervention of Aqua and the awakening of Ventus... Naaaaah). Lea and Mickey are the biggest interrogations. I could really well envision the game being divided in 3 parts, with 3 teams composed of 2 keyblade wielders (Sora+Riku, Kairi+Aqua, Ventus+Lea), and a final Disney team (Mickey+Donald+Goofy), but I wonder if SE is able to drop the canon-team of Sora/Donald/Goofy...

Are you calling him Sofa on purpose?

No I was writing on my phone and damn autocorrect changed Sora to Sofa. Though it is kinda fitting.

If Sora fell to darkness that would have been an even worse ending. Thank God for Disney.

I'm only speculating about it. I think it would have been awful from the 'I saw this coming all the way' argument but it would be nice as it'd get Riku to be confirmed as playable for Kh3.

What I didn't like about DDD's ending regarding Sora bein saved from darkness is that it seemed like such a huge thing and suddenly here comes Riku and in 15 minutes rescues him in the end. That felt a bit rushed.

Please don't jinx that...they need a Toy Story world at least for gods sakes.

Nomura has expressed interested in Pixar and with the move to HD consoles I'd say Pixar worlds have a pretty high chance of making it.

There hasn't been a KH game I've disliked, though if I had to say least favorite I'd say Chain of Memories.

Really enjoyed 358/2 Days contrary to everyone else it seems.

Didn't play much of Birth by Sleep, my PSP broke before I could really sink my teeth into it.

An HD collection of everything would be pretty fantastic. It'd be especially welcome with the plot as complicated as it is now.

KH3D is pretty rad so far.

I really love Kingdom Hearts, played all the games, but seriously the Time Travel thing was just a kick in the balls.
:/

Also, what's next after the Xehanort saga? Didn't Nomura say something about KH 3 being the end of Xehanort only? Or am I wrong?
People are just mad that they had to spend 2 hours playing as some shmuck they didn't even know.

Seriously why did they do that.
Leave Roxas alone :(

Yeah, I believe the third game is the end of this "saga".

My random thoughts and speculation on KH's future:

-new protagonist and villains with Sora being referenced or a background character post-KH3 (pretty obvious)
-I think we'll get a Kingdom Hearts MMO after KH3
-From a narrative stand point I always envisioned EVERYONE getting their own keyblades as a result of the Xenahort saga. I don't know why.
-My gut says that we'll get another prequel game to explain more about Xehanort's past

We still need prequel where Young Xehanort, Yen Sid and Eraqus are playable with time travelling Sora being their master.

We really do need more exposition on the Keyblade War and the past of Yen Sid, Xehanort, and Eraqus. I was pretty annoyed that the game just skips over that.

Haven't played a kh game since 2, don't have any handhelds, any news on a HD collection of some sort or what?

Please do not wish to make the plot more complicated than it already is.
Sora's dad was in the war and he actually touched Terra once so that's why he can use the Keyblade blah blah blah Riku gets a nobody blah blah blah Vanitas comes back blah blah blah XEHANORT IS ACTUALLY IN ANOTHER DIMENSION OMGWTFBBQ.

I <3 you Nomura

I don't see how a Final Mix version would improve everything, but I've never played it so how would I know.

The Final Mix literally improved everything. From many new cutscenes, to over a dozen new bossfights, a very difficult difficulty setting, a new drive form, new keyblades, new areas, new attacks, new sidequests, new secret movie, a theater setting, to a 3D version of Chain of Memories, it was ridiculous.

We need Xehanort clones in the series. And I literally mean clones.

Don't forget recoloured enemies, new weapons for party members, new accessories and christmas costumes in christmas town!

Yup. KH2:FM+ was so good. So glad I imported it. Worth it just for the full Org XIII fights I'd say. And that Roxas fight was SO GOOD. My favourite fight of the series. Every about it was great.

It was a spectacularly designed fight, very iconic, especially thanks to this amazing song.

It's a shame westerners got shafted this version because it really improves KH2 so damn much.

I pondered importing the final mix of KH2 and BBS, but I'm not really interested in getting games that I can't understand.

Final Mix brought back dodge roll. Can't believe that was missing in the original game.

It freaking NEEDS a ps3 port. It was so ridiculous when SE localized Re:CoM but not this. Such douchebags.

KH2FM+, best game of the series. The amount of shit to do in that game is crazy. One of the best re-releases ever. The fact they threw RE:COM in there as a bonus is mind-blowing too.
