Yes, one less boss fight. I also want to say that there are new sleights in the PS2 version. I'd stick with the PS2 version and maybe just play one floor (world) at a time. They're about an hour at most.

New sleights and they also added the Pluto friend card, who shows up once your deck's almost out to help you replenish cards you've used up in sleights.

Most people will probably never see him, though.

Yeah thanks, I was actually going for that too. After I finished Traverse Town I did the Pinnochio level, 1-2 worlds a day seems just right for me. :)

GBA version has two less bosses, IIRC
(Marluxia III and Zexion).
The second half of the game also has a new card duel mechanic added to it, as well.

I liked DDD more than I thought it would. I agree that the story is KH at is worst but I liked that it seems that Nomura just embraced the fan complaints/requests and just said "Fuck it, lets do it".

Kingdom Hearts narrative is shitty but I liked... help me :(

So I have 2 more worlds left for Sora in Re:CoM, I sorta spoiled it by checking Gamefaqs to see what else there might be. Found out that
you use Riku, I assume after finishing Sora's stuff
. So far I'm OK with the battle system but it's really annoying and just doesn't work for me, the card system is bleh. I'm just excited to see bits of the story, glad I'm playing on easy.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if KH3 will be enough to adress and complete all plotlines, because there is a lot of them :

  • Ven's heart and body must be reunited. But to access Ven's body, they will probably need Aqua. (Side note: I can't wait to return to Castle Oblivion... The music there is magistral).
  • Aqua must be rescued. However, she's trapped in the Realm of Darkness, alongside Ansem the Wise. Good news : Aqua didn't seem to age, so we can assume can that time moves slowly in this realm. Bad news : this place is dangerous, and if going there isn't that hard, coming back isn't that easy (well, except for Riku and Sora at the end of KH2 : thanks Deus Ex Machina). Also, even if they manage to reach the Realm of Darkness, there's no guarantee that Aqua will be there waiting for them : either she manages to escape on her own (not very plausible : she's been trapped there for years), either she ends up captured or corrupted (well, one heart can only resist for a certain amount of time - and she was pretty much depressed the last time we saw her. Losing all her friends and being trap in hell with a lot of dangerous creatures wanting to eat your heart may do that to you), and the heroes will have to rescue her. There is also the possibility that we will play as Aqua and get out of there, with what could have been a part of BbS 2.
  • Rescue of Ansem the Wise (we're not going to let this poor lad rot in the Realm of Darkness, are we ?).
  • Once Ventus heart and body are reunited, what will happen to Sora ? It isn't like the time when he kept Kairi's heart. He grew up with Ven's heart, both are tighly entangled together. Young Xehanort tried to make Sora doubt about himself and his own existence in order to possess him (KH:3D), but there is truth in his words. Also, Vanitas : will he appear again ? He has Sora's form (and that's before Sora's heart helped Ven's heart to heal). Why ?
  • The seven princesses of heart : they will have to protect them.
  • 13 freakin' Xehanort. Now that's a lot of Xehanorts to battle. Unless they all fuse together mid-game, we can assume that we're going to fight every one of them... That's a lot of boss battles against the most dangerous being of KH.
  • 7 warriors of light : Sora, Riku, Kairi, Aqua, Ventus, Lea, Mickey (Terra has fallen in enemy's hands). That's a lot of potentially playable characters...
  • Personal conflict between Lea and Isa.
  • Xion : her existence was canonly acknowledge by Sora, who met her in his dreams, same for Riku (though they have no idea who she is). She is one of the person that Sora will have to save. And, come on, who doesn't want to see Xion back, along with a cheery version of "Musique pour la Tristesse de Xion" (with some flutes, I'm pretty sure we can make this music happy... Well, with a lot of flutes in this case), ready to kick ass ?
  • Ienzo. He's the one who convinced Ansem the Wise to pursue his experiences, and continued them despite Ansem's interdictions. He doesn't have any parents, he was close to Terranort, his Nobody was scheming and acting in the shadows... I can't help myself to think that's he's up to no good, and that he's just keeping a low profile. Actually, I'm wondering if he isn't one of the 13 Xehanort's vessels.
  • The others members of Organisation 13 : we will probably see them again. Also, I'm curious to see who Larxene really was before becoming a Nobody (lines in Days hint that she was hurt emotionnaly when she was human, and that would be why she considers having no heart isn't something so terrible).
  • Terra will be saved, one way or another. The question is how and when.
  • Same for Eraqus.
  • The x-blade.
  • Xehanort's guardian : what the heck is he ? He's been there since the beginning of the series, but we don't have any clues about what he truly is. And he's not just an extension of Ansem the Heartless : he first appeared when Terranort and Aqua dueled. Terranort's body and heart weren't separated at this time. I don't think he completly belongs to Xehanort either : he didn't summon it when fighting against Terra and his armor (pre and post possession). Now, let's see : he's a trueblood heartless, which means he was created from the darkness in one's heart. Now, whose heart is it ? Terra's, Xehanort's... Or Eraqus's ? After all, it's implied that Eraqus's heart is in Terranort's body as well. Eraqus was like a father figure to Terra : he continues to protect him, even though his will is now twisted by the darkness unleashed when his heart was overtaken by it. He stays with Xehanort's heartless when Terranort/Ansem the Fake separates his heart from his body.
The only problem with my theory is when Riku uses it against Roxas at the end of Days...
  • Maleficient and Pete, always up to no good.
  • Other disney villains.
  • Radiant Garden : between the ressurected members of the Orga XIII and the FFs characters...
  • Cloud and Sephiroth, as always.

It isn't impossible to solve all these plotlines in a game, but to be honest I'm afraid SE will pull a KH3-1 and KH3-2 on us.

Bumbing the thread from oblivion but I really wanted to talk about the subject of HD collection.

There has been multiple hints about HD collection being on the horizon. First it was Nomura telling how they were experimenting with HD KH (tho this could have been about ''KH3'' as well) then Nomura admitting that the series was hard to follow for newcomers and wanting to do something about it, hinting about doing a lighter KH project and finally the secret message in DDD. So I have no doubt that the collection is coming.

But for the problem with the collection everyone knows: Final Mixes. I don't think they would release vanilla versions for the Jap market but I have this bad feeling that they might take the lazy way and just do the vanillas for western markets. This move would make the collection pretty much useless for me and many fans that just can't go back to vanilla KH2 and it would just be extremely dissapointing since this is absolutely perfect chance to bring the games to the west. KH1 vanilla is certainly tolerable but even then me and many others would really appreciate to try FM for that game since it never got a translation patch (I really couldn't bother importing KH1 FM but KH2FM was impossible to resist and I got lucky since the game got pretty good fan translation even tho it was years later). This single thing will honestly make the collection the best or the worst of all HD collections of my fav games. Yes, even worse than SH. Just thinking about KH2FM with trophies makes my mouth foam!

But lets say we get lucky and its the FM versions. Theres still one thing that will be interesting: the new cutscenes. I wonder if they will be voiceless or would SE bother doing lil voicework. Even then I reaaaaaallly doubt they could get Lee to do the voice so theres 2 choices: voiceless or use the new VA. It could be a lil grating but I'd still prefer the scenes to have voices. Japanese version could have a nice bonus with fully japanese voiced FM for the first time since they allready recorded the new cutscenes.

And last but not least, the games included in the collection. 1 and 2 are a given but even when I really doubt this happening having BBS and-or Re:CoM would be awesome. BBS looks really great in HD as seen in the PSP emulator thread and certainly is worthy of remastering. Also would be a really nice hook for the masses that don't own a PSP. Re:CoM would also be cool but I think it has even lower chance than BBS with being a side game and all. Also the game never was granted euroversions so new translations would be needed tho they could get some stuff from the original. Also would be a treat for the EU fans.

Well that's all for now. I'm hoping for announcement at TGS. Nomura promised us a KH game every year and by god he better deliver ;).

Why on earth would they NOT release the Final Mix versions? They'd sell like absolute shit in Japan, and not nearly as well as they otherwise could everywhere else. They've kept the voice cast around for basically the whole Organization, as far as I can tell, so it ought to be easy to reproduce voice recordings for the few missing bits of KH2:FM and BBS:FM. Also, maybe they could even fix KH1's shitty camera and tweak the game in other tiny ways to make it feel more modern. Heck, they could even add New Game Plus to the older games if they wanted to be really awesome about things.

And yeah, I'm reasonably sure that RE:CoM and BBS:FM would get added to the collection. The big question is how they'd decide to handle 358/2 Days and Dream Drop Distance, neither of which was incredibly well received, but both of which are reasonably important.

I can't tell if the FM version of games is really a possibility or just my desperation. It'd be a great marketing ploy. American gamers never got them so that's a hell of a lot "new" content. I think the collection would be: KH1, Re:CoM, KH2, and (maybe) BBS.

KHIIFM actually does have Japanese VA for the new scenes, IIRC. It has to be unlocked, though.

I'm actually more concerned about KH1 in general since there's the whole legal issue involving Tarzan.

Yeah they have. I think you needed Re:Com save file or something. I allready addressed this in my post ^^.

I meant that they could release the vanilla versions in the west. You never know with SE.

Yeah, I'd think it would be more surprising for them to NOT be Final Mix versions than them to be Final Mix versions. I mean, simply looking at past ports etc. from SE, you can see that they've pretty much always released the most content rich versions and not taken the easy way out. And with games like Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, they've even added a lot of content + done a new localization. Or the superb job they did with Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which feels like a whole new game thanks to all the additions & changes.

Apart from some technical problems (i.e. FFVI Advance's sound problems, loading times in PS1 ports of SNES FFs), their ports & remakes have been top-notch. I don't see why that would change with what's probably their third most popular franchise at the moment. Would be weird if they didn't do a proper job with HDfied KHs.

Just dropping by to say that I really wouldn't be surprised if Nomura really wanted a Star Wars world. BBS was almost a love letter of sorts to the movies. I personally think it could make a totally badass world.

Mark Hamill doing a double role?

My only problem is that Star Wars doesn't feel like "Disney"... I guess I would feel the same way about the pirates world if it was announced today. Frankly, I think that there are plenty of true disney movies that would fit without going into the "technical" Disney franchises

However the Mark Hamill remark would be amazing
