YESSSSSSSS

Searched but couldn't find a thread for this, lock if it's old news.

Nothing much more to add though since it's all in the title. Looks like we could be getting all of the first 3 games as PSOne classics in the west.
Was there ever an official English translation of the original? Thought it was just a fan translation?

Really stretching the term 'classic' there.
How dare you

is this King's Field 2 King's Field 2 or King's Field 3 King's Field 2?

....

Oooooooooooooooh

OK so this'll be the English King's Field 2

Basically
King's Field 1= Never released in English
King's Field 2= Released in English as being the First King's Field
King's Field 3= Released in English as King's Field 2

So yeah this will likely be King's Field 3 JP; English King's Field 2

One of my favorite PS1 games. Loved the original also. For its time, it was one of the most atmospheric games ever. KF Ancient City for PS2 would be welcome also.

I love the Souls series, but I've always been an original KF fan since the beginning.

Probably just working backwards for some reason. Would be nice if they plan to get the original installment out too though, especially as that opens the door to finally getting Shadow Gower Abyss officially.

King's Field II is a great game! Played it to completion while waiting for the release of Bloodborne. A lot of what makes the souls games what they are is heavily influenced by these games. It was a real interesting adventure. If you can look past the sluggish movement and clunky first person controls, then this is if nothing a fascinating look at From's beginning.

I don't think people give the King's Field games enough credit for having zero loading times with a giant world to explore on the PS1's CD drive of all things.

Playing KF1 US (KF2 JP) blew my mind with how I didn't have to see a single loading screen in the entire game, and it was in 3D and you could go all over the place. I believe they slowed the character's movement down and the attack animation was loaded straight from the disk to just barely squeeze that technological hurdle in.

Yeah, I was really hoping they were going to have the emulator done in time for E3 :\

It's rather unfortunate. You can have a PS1-themed PS4 with a PS1 theme that plays the PS1 boot sound, with a PS1-themed controller and a PS1-themed headset... just can't play PS1 games on it.

Wait so is this King's Field 2 JP or Kings Field 2 NA. I'm aware that the original King's Field wasn't released in NA. Own both PS1 NA games, but would like to purchase it on Vita.

Cool. Although I much prefer King's Field 2 (1US) compared to KF 3. This had such gross looking areas and visuals overall. I felt like 3 had a much better frame rate, and while the visuals were more simplistic I think they were more cohesive. Still a good game and worth picking up for a glimpse at From's action RPGs prior to Souls.

Yes! YES! I need this. I must inject into my eyelids via my oled vita screen. Dear lord the excitement has caught me like the holy ghost coming up my grandmother at a sunday healing service. YESSSSS

What's a King's Field?

Ah young cub, before Bloodbourne, before Dark Souls, before Demon's Souls, before METAL WOLF CHAOS, there was King's Field.
It was From Soft's earliest series that they developed.
It's a first person view action rpg adventure game thing.

Why can't PS1 and PS2 games be on PS4? :( Did any journalist ask anyone at Sony while E3 was going on about it?

I need to finish this game once and for all!

I never played any PS1 From Software games, but I will try this out for sure. It always makes me happy to see support for PS1 Classics.

I would love to see more of their PS2 games on PSN as well.

Now we just need PS1 and PS2 support on PS4.

I loved the games back in the day, but I don't think I would label it as classic. I'm pretty sure my brother hated it.

The game was scary to me as a kid, and those fucking squid things in the first one!

As someone who's finished every Souls game a few times but never touched a Kings Field game, which would you recommend as a glimpse into the evolution of From Software's design?

Both of them. Names cross over from Field to Souls games. Difficulty too. The games are NOT easy, and they're NOT easy to figure out, either. You figure stuff out as you go for the most part, but I think Field is a little more giving when it comes to story.

Alright, yeah, even at the time I was like, "these controls are like getting a root canal." But a lot of "classic" RPGs kind of have that sort of nonsense going. The atmosphere, the challenge, the feeling of exploration was amazing.

I mean, Ultima IV and VII have awful combat, but they're still far better overall games than most RPGs.

In-game button remapping + system-level button remapping = you can use left stick to move, right stick to look. Modernizes the hell out of these games when you can use a relatively decent dual analog setup. Perfect for the Vita.
