Kings - New NBC Show that is awesome

I missed the two hour premiere so I was waiting to watch that before going any further now I won't waste any of my time :( sounds like a lot of people who are watching it, like it.

maybe they should have marketed better.

I don't get why a show like Lost can attain such ratings when Kings, an equally if not better show can't get much.

I have to blame America's distaste for "unique" show premises

That's a bit of stretch. It isn't just viewership-- there's a significant gap in their critical receptions, too.

It's over guys, this show is done.

I guess I'll have to catch it on Hulu. Saturday is totally not a good day to watch tv.

Its a good show that I wish would stay on but its no where near the quality that Lost was when it started.

Like Yawee said, LOST is pretty much universally adored critically, while Kings is much more mixed.

And lol @ Kings being more "unique" than LOST.

I've "bought" every show in HD for $2.99 since it started and I love it! The last episode was great.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about TV viewer culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw your viewing audience over repeatedly, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the TV viewing public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to watch any new NBC shows. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but NBC has alienated an entire demographic with this move.

NBC, publicly apologize and put Kings back on Sundays or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I just finished episode 2 and really like the show. No used getting too attatched at this point, though. God damn it. :(
 
I'm watching Kings on SciFi right now. Hopefully it can live on there. SciFi could use a new show with religious overtones now that BSG is done.

you can't really blame NBC. They did give a very risky show a chance.

CBS is the real enemy. Name the last CBS show that was not a procedural/sitcom/reality show. Jericho probably?

I actually have to catch up with an ep. or two, but yeah looking forward to it... it's just hard to get motivated to watch, despite how awesome it is, seeing it careen into Cancelland. :(
 
Another top quality episode, seems they took the long path in relation to how long David remains loyal to Silas, which is kind of a shame because it means we probably wont ever get to see the shows interpretation of David becoming King.
 
in the beginning of the episode i kind of doubted it, i was only partially watching it and not as interested. then came the second half god damn the acting is just so good. and then davids line that "God works through you" came..god i love this show.

so what exactly is the daughters problem? seems like she cant have kids, but shes also promised to someone else?

I'm sure it will deviate quite a bit, so far they are just going with the general framework of the biblical stories.
 
Man, this show is so awesome. But we'll see how many episodes we get before it's canceled... I wish that they would market the Biblical themes a bit more, to the regular Joe it's probably just another sci-fi show, and it would give the show well-earned attention (both good and bad, of course).

And WTF @ Culkin.

I would think that the political themes would attract people in as well, surely the West Wing crowd would love this show as a comparison piece.
 
It's bad enough that a character in the show has a name that was the basis of my surname but now they went and introduced a character with my first name. My poor brain can't take it!
 
According to Entertainment Weekly, the two-hour Dateline for Easter Sunday (April 12) was able to pull in 6.4 million viewers, as opposed to the 3.6 million Kings got the week prior (April 5).

Think that about says it all right there... :(
 
The acting is fine. It's just the material isn't all that interesting. I thought it was going to be an amazing show, but I often find myself checking to see how much time is left when I'm watching it. Slow paced and boring imo, although it has gotten a little bit better. I think it tries to take itself too seriously.
