Kings - New NBC Show that is awesome

I wonder if they deferred airing the rest of the series because of the Swine Flu 'outbreak' and fear that this episode was too topical or insensitive.

I always knew this would end up being the next Black Donnellys(2 or 3 dudes from that show were on here!)

These shows were awesome and only lasted one season because NBC sucks at advertising awesome shows.

(Go check out The Black Donnellys!)

indeed, i said the same thing i think even before this show started. its just too high concept for the US audience. we fucking suck.

Yup Jimmy and Sean Donnelly... And then Huey is on True Blood. Then there's Kevin in Generation Kill.

Yeah check out Black Donnellys on DVD, it's 13 eps long (only 7 aired) and it's AWESOME.

the bluray release of season 1 was planned for November 14th, but it's been pushed back to early 2010 and switched to HD-DVD
lol I highly doubt we'll get a BD release of this show for quite a while unfortunately. Unlike WB, Universal has been very very selective with the TV shows they've released on BD. I think it's Heroes, BSG and that's it IIRC

Just watched last night, damn fine episode! This show is so good :(

Any ratings info? I hope they still air the remaining episodes this summer as planned and not pull it due to utter bombings... I didn't even know it was back till I saw it recorded on my DVR last night

I did my part, I watched it on Hulu. Really liked it, and was kind of surprised when I realised that it was only the sixth episode. Always felt like more than that. :lol

(It's so cancelled)

Just caught up on Hulu.

This most recent episode was a rather precipitous jump in quality. It really ironed out some of the stilted/oddball qualities earlier episodes of the season had.

this show would have been AMAZING with a bigger budget and freedom from a premium channel like HBO. my god i will love HBO forever if they picked this up or something.

Damn and I was just gonna post a new thread for this show...

Started watching on Hulu. I am hooked. HOOKED. Show is amazing. Darn shame ratings weren't good... but... I am enjoying every second of it. Gonna watch 5 now =D

I don't want to get back into this show since I know it won't continue. I guess I'll catch it on Hulu sooner or later.

I am fairly sure it has an ending set for Season 1, the last episodes are called

A new King

I couldn't resist watching the princess. Fuck she's hot.

QFT. Damn, this show is just finding it's voice (kinda like with Dollhouse taking until Episode 6/7 to do this as well). Really hope there's life for this show on another network (Showtime, HBO, etc?). All in all, a good episode :)

Another awesome episode. But if the season ends with
David's ascent to the throne
then I'll be satisfied that at least it got to a good ending point.

fuck that, this show has had its voice since the first episode. every episode has been great and its only been getting better. i am so depressed every week knowing the show is over =(

and its been confirmed that yes, the major story arcs will be wrapped up in the finale

How many episodes are left? I don't want to watch it until I have the finale but if there are like 10 more episodes I'll just start watching.

Holy SHIT what an amazing episode. Fuck you NBC once again, this is one of the best things you've had in a LONG time.

Also, Saffron Burrows as DEATH.. crazy, genius and awesome at the same time. Wonder if she plays chess.

Shit that was awesome. Watched it last night on Hulu. I realised that it was the first time in a while that any show/movie has given me the creeps like that. I wish so badly that it'd get renewed...but...yeah...

The first few episodes really let down this series. Where the series started and where it is now are two completely different strata.

4/5 stars until those pics make it onto the internet.

I just now caught the episode from Saturday, with Saffron as Death.

Sooooo awesome. And the whole camera scene was incredibly romantic/sexy as well.

Again, where is this guy who plays Silas from? The dude better get an Emmy nod this year for the show, even though it's getting cancelled.

Deadwood. Fantastic show, terrible final episode.

No, I didn't know what shows he was on. Deadwood figures... explains his massive appeal in this thread :lol I've never seen the show but everyone tells me it's another HBO classic that I have to catch.

A bigger budget? 4 million per episode isn't enough?

Fans of Ian McShane might want to check out the old BBC series, Lovejoy.

damn 4 million per episode? well i dont know how that compares to other shows really, but i am thinking of something on the scale of ROME, which at least seems to have a bigger budget. regardless, i can only imagine how great it would be on HBO.

I don't know what this show would do with a bigger budget. I don't see any rough edges that money would help with.

I felt that scene almost ruined the entire episode. The princess would not be that stupid to allow the pictures given how she has acted earlier in the show. It was an out of character (even with the lights off) example of poor writing.

thats true. i dont know really, i guess i just assume that any show can be made better with more money. but i cant think of anything in particular here. im sure something would benefit though...somewhere. such a shame to lose this show...

Couldn't disagree with you more. I don't get how you think it was out of character for her given their relationship earlier in the season and having finally the ability to act on her passion for David.
