Knack [PS4] Gamescom trailer

Really looking forward to this one. Shame the buzz seems a bit low for it, I'm hoping it sells well - it'd be nice to see that this sort of game can still do well in the era of shooty bang bang angry games.

This makes me wish it was more Ratchet & Clank-esque

Agreed. I was a little unsure about it when it was shown at E3 but that latest trailer was really great.

Game flying the hell out of this one. Can't drop 60 bones from what I've seen but it still reminds me of the PSX/N64 era platformers I used to love.

Was keen before, still keen now. I've been playing a bit of Spyro 2 lately, and I'm getting a similar vibe with Knack, i.e. simple yet enjoyable 3D action. Excited to play at launch.

I can't get over how bad the art style is at least in the trailers we've been shown. It looks like a production from one of those studios that tries to emulate dreamworks and the voice acting sounds like ps1 era.

I don't mind the visuals and I actually like what some insecure people call "kiddie". Its the gameplay and what I suspect is ultra linearity that I have questions about. Some of those screens make me rethink what I thought was near straight line level design throughout. If its simply linear in a traditional 3D platformer like Jak, then I'm fine. If its near brain dead linearity, I'll balk.

I am, however, very open to this game. I don't want to write it off as if its actually a good old fashioned 3D platformer, I'll snatch it up right quick. What was shown on late night was not enough. They really need to get with a popular internet streamer and have them demo the game for the hardcore for about an hour.

Looking good. Hoping for some word on improved framerate and gameplay news out of GC this week. Still on my pre-order list.

Actually looks really good. They should've led with this sort of trailer. Not a fan of Knack's voice acting, but other than that I don't have much to complain about from that trailer.

Seems aimed at 4-10 year olds. I'd buy it if I had kids

I don't think so. I recall impressions from E3 stated the game was really difficult.

Actually, I think I was way better at games when I was 10 than I am now so forget about that.

Agreed a longer demo showing off some new areas and/or variety in game mechanics would do wonders. I think visually its looking great now.

I'm definitely interested in this game, but I'm spending so much money on the PS4 launch. This will probably be on I look for on Black Friday, or early 2013 if it goes on sale.

$39.99 and I'm there!

Game could be a runaway hit as a 39.99 launch title. At $60 I think they could have problems. I do like how it looks tho. Won't pick it up at launch, but at some point for sure.

They really need to fix the framerate. Game looks fun, the kind of sunday morning fun most games don't let themselves be these days, everything has to be gritty and citizen kane.

Same here, I remember beating Contra and only dying like twice. Today I can barely get past the first level without losing 2 or 3 lives.

Bearing in mind that the demo gameplay we've seen amounts to roughly 5-7 minutes worth of playtime, the new media suggests that was really just scratching the surface, fortunately.

Looks much more impressive compared to E3 at least graphics wise.
Would be interesting to see an other gameplay demo on a new level.

This trailer is hype. Amazing what fast editing and good music can do, lol

This is the kind of game I felt was missing for most of this gen. I'm ready!

This game is meant for all skill levels, your typical family game. Still looking forward to playing it, think it looks great.

Hard mode sounds like where its at.
Yeah exactly, it’s not the same. Not just health, but the way enemies shoot. The behavior is different: where they shoot is different, there are so many things working in concert… Take the ice level. You slide round the corner of some cliffs, and on hard there’s no barrier and you can fall off, but on easy there is a barrier and you can’t. There are lots of subtle differences like that. We know there’s a different audience playing those different levels of difficulty. We take it seriously – we want something that will appeal to everybody. There’s a phenomenal amount of detail; certainly when I was demoing it to people I could see that they had a lot to talk to each other about, because it was different between the different levels of difficulty.

Visually I think it looks pretty good. Wish the game didn't look like such a bore, maybe the final release will surprise...

I honestly thought that part was cg. Until you posted the picture and I see the grass at the bottom.

wow.

The presentation is the main thing killing my buzz. It's like it's trying to be super cute and super epic at the same time. Some games can pull this off well (Mario Galaxy, Puppeteer), but this game just isn't doing it for me.

The game itself looks pretty solid though.

They should just change the name of the game to "Mark Cerny" and obviously change the main character - it would stop the baseless hate it gets.
