nice to hear after sony's conference. don't care about mgs rising now. peace walker all the way!
"The title is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The setting is 10 years after MGS3, in the 1970s. This is a true sequel of the Metal Gear franchise"
"Let me emphasize that I am very deeply involved in this game, as well as the main team that created MGS4. This is not a spinoff, this is not a side story."
True but only time will tell I guess. I was impressed with what I saw of Peace Walker game but the 15 seconds or so trailer of Rising did nothing for me.MMaRsu said:Even though Kojima is directing the PSP game doesn't mean Rising isn't a sequel. They are both pretty much a sequel.
And could we PLEASE not talk about fucking DMC stuff? We hardly know anything except for the fact that they dropped the tactical espionage tagline. It is really stupid to just assume that MGSR is going the Devil May Cry route.
So he looks a bit....different, should that make it any less 'definitive' ? The game is not due out this year anyway.infinityBCRT said:![]()

Just compare his face from the PSP version to the teaser. Something looks really wrong with the way his face looks on PSP.

No, I never said it will be less definitive, but the PSP won't be able to handle realtime cutscenes the way the PS2 does let alone the PS3.thaOwner said:True but only time will tell I guess. Sounds like a powerful handheld.Brandon F said:Fucking PSP.
MGS3 sequel without MGS4 tech...dissapointmenton.
Someone was asking if the PSP could handle the cutscenes. His face's proportions are totally wrong because they are using a really low poly model (which means it probably doesn't have enough triangles to do facial animation). I updated my original post to show the PS2 face as well.-viper- said:psp graphics vs render. durrrr.

Far less emphasis will need to be placed on the technology and all that expensive and time consuming HD asset creation. It can be a more personal project and go in whatever direction Kojima wants. Can't really achieve that with a staff of 200 and a hype train dragging around millions of demanding gamers. Peace Walker for the hardcore Metal Gear fans, Rising for the mainstream.

Honestly if I were you, stop reading neogaf and grab 2/3/4 and play em.batbeg said:I haven't really played a MGS since the first one, don't remember it too well. It's one of these series I'm always wanting to play because it looks so incredible but when I sit down I just don't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
Anyway... is there a reason for the 4 Snakes edition cutscene? Confused the hell out of me, because things seemed pretty serious until it went all 4 Swords on us.Is Snake a clone or something?

Konami/Kojima is taking a pretty huge financial risk with this. MGS games have never been fantastic sellers in Japan and have typically performed better in the US and PSP software has never really done too well in the US historically.

You'd be surprised how wrong you are and also, this is a PSP game, am sure it really isn't going to require insane amount of cash since they already have an engine that runs extremely well on the PSP (Portable OPS engine). It's not going to cost that much money to make impreovements to it.ElyrionX said:I don't think there are many mainstream MGS fans.

The inner game designer in me says, why not make a game that goes to the masses? I'd rather have more people play my games. MGS1 and MGS2 did it right, they pretty much came to every platform that existed at the time that could handle the games. If I'm not mistaken both sold close to 10 Million copies on PSX/PS2 alone. With MGS3/MGS4 he severely limited his audience and they performed much worse (by the time Subsistence came out we were on the cusp of 360, and a lot of PS2 gamers moved on to 360 by the time MGS4 came out)EviLore said:I see a lot of folks in the various threads clamoring for Peace Walker to be a current gen console title, but consider the benefits of it being on PSP.
