Kung Fury, Best Thing Ever Made?

Shit like Kung Fury sucks because it is self aware and intentionally re-creating the camp and cheese of 80s action films.

Action movies from the 80s are so awesome to watch today precisely because they were played straight and were meant to be taken seriously from an 80s audience.

Instead of Mad Max (2015) I'd divert my praise to Kung Fury.

If "ever" means "in the last week", which is pretty equivalent for you millennials, then I agree with the OP!

Also danger 5.

I truly hated this thing

made me kinda happy there won't be a D5 season 3, which seems like a hard feat

shit's just done, and they are trying way too hard

I mean, I don't think Kung Fury is BAD, it's just a bit much for me.

Black Dynamite is one of the better "bad movie" genre parodies of recent years and even it is a bit too long.

The amount of cool in this film is overwhelming.
It's so cool watching it is physically refreshing.
Ever seen juice concentrate? This film was made from cool concentrate.
Scientists believe absolute zero is now possible due to the amount of cool.
It's not hot hot because it's cool.
Kung Fury is 100% pure, untainted, undilluted, absolute, sheer cool.

I think so.

I'm certainly not a child of the 80s, but I got Blood Dragon where Kung Fury just seemed like a CollegeHumor skit that went on 20 minutes too long.

Yep, just like any demake games, it's fun for a trailer or screenshots, it should stop there.

It's good, but when the movie run out of the "freshness" of the gimmick it's becoming something that is not quite as funny/hilarious.

It's a good thing they only make it 30 minutes. Making it a full featured film will make the concept boring to me immediately.

Dunno about that, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It reminded me of a 30 min amalgamation of the strange shit I'd see on USA up all night with Gilbert Godfried. It also turned me onto Danger 5 which seems like a lot of fun so far.

One of the best original creations in recent memory that was made specifically for youtube? Sure. One of the best things ever? Nah. I did enjoy watching Kung Fury. It was a nice brisk 30 minute production that managed to entertain me the whole way through. It wasn't perfect and a bit inconsistent, and it did rely a little too much on CG. But I have to applaud the filmmaker for getting this done and then putting it up on youtube for everyone to watch for free.

The David Hasslehof music video that distilled the whole thing was better.

I agree with this, as much as I enjoyed the movie, David Hasslehoff's True Survivor is the best thing to come out of this. It is the perfect throwback to music videos that were created to promote movies in the 80's (like this, this, this, this , this, this , this and a thousand other music videos) and it does it without winking or nudging to the audience. Hasslehoff is completely in his element in this video and he seems to revel in it. He took a chance on filming this in some unknown amateur filmmamers basement, and now it has 13 million views.
