La-Mulana remake (PC) releasing July 13th on Playism

I didn't even know there was this much of Japanese indie game scene, especially with all the doom and gloom we get from the big publishers. This warms my frozen jaded heart.

What are the payment options (for those that got it to work)?

PayPal. But you can still use it like most other PayPal online stores. Punch in your credit card number and you'll be good, no pp account required.

Edit:

Had some issues but the universe has righted itself. Downloading. :)

What are the payment options (for those that got it to work)?

Right now PayPal is the only option.
We were originally hoping to use Google Checkout and Amazon Payments as well but we first need to set up an office and everything in the States(which is looking possible).

Sorry about the connections and login errors everyone! Things should be fixed now. If you are still having problems might be a good idea to clear your cookies.

Our servers got slammed pretty bad but the programmers are working their magic to help smooth things out!

If there are any other problems email us please!

I hope you get so much traffic your servers catch on fire. You're letting me play La Mulana (again), no login issues will keep me from this.

Keep up the good work :)

Holy God, the audio is glorious. I'll have to tackle this tomorrow, but man oh man, this is going to be delightful.

Playism, I bow to you for being champs. :D

Damn these birds.

Liking the audio a lot and it looks great. Platforming feels kinda janky, but ill probly get used to it

Bought, downloaded, and ready to see a hell.

Just to note (well, anyone that can actually get through): if the Playism site gives you a 500 error upon completing your PayPal transaction, check the Downloads section in your account. The game you bought is likely there, showing that the transaction actually went through properly.

This happened to me as well. The bad news is that the site charges you every time, even if you own the game already :/

Just emailed them and trying to work off my other two purchases..

edit: And it's refunded - that was quick!

I honestly never liked the look of the Wii version all that much, but now that I'm actually playing it...

I'M IN LOVE.

The soundtrack has a tendency to make my ears bleed, though. Can't wait for the classic music mod!

Heres a quick and easy custom Steam grid image for people who want to add it to their Steam list:

It'd be nice if someone made a fancier one.

Hmmm, given the japanese flavour of playism I was kinda hoping for some rpgs/shmups/adventurish vn's.

Yeah we are of course going to branch out to more titles.

I can say that we do have a couple of RPGs and Shmup style games in the works.

One of the next games we release in the next couple of weeks will definitely have that unique 'Japanese flavour' :D
It's probably one of the most ridiculous games ever created.

Great to hear! It'd be nice also to see some of the more involved adventure/visual novels (like the stuff that got localised for the DS - lux pain, hotel dusk, last window, time hollow).

Although I guess that's a lot more time & money to localise...

Yeah one of the biggest problems is that a lot of those games are never created with localization in mind which means a lot of times every line is hard coded.

So even if we are able to cover the localization costs on our end, the developer often times cannot afford the time or resources to implement the localization.

We are looking into some solutions so that we can bring some of those kinds of titles over.

La Mulana is really, really buggy.

Reports from others saying it'll randomly crash, or certain graphics are missing.

Me? It freezes whenever I exit the menu.

Not the greatest PC port.

Man, I've been hawking this game for over a year now and it has become one of my most wanted games. I was just about to impulse purchase this shit, but I keep getting account creation errors. I just wish there was a Steam/WiiWare version to coincide with this because I would prefer to play the game on one of those services. Is it really supposed to be buggy too? Maybe I'll just wait a bit to see how things unfold before I download it. =(

EDIT: Oh, it seems like my account was created even though I got errors when creating. I refreshed the page on the error screen and it said the Nickname I chose was already taken. I thought that wasn't possible so I went to go login and it worked. Hmm...now whether or not to download the game...

I've played around 2 hours and haven't encountered a single bug or crash. Hope I don't run into anything game breaking. Still, it stinks that others are experiencing errors.

Try downloading it again; I'm not sure if they have actually updated the archive but just re-iterating what I heard elsewhere. Also it's a bit silly to call it a pc port when la-mulana is a pc game. Anyway, I've had no issues so far.

It's a port of the Wiiware version.

But anyways, I redownloaded and reinstalled, the menu freeze is gone! Weird, I wonder what was/is up.

Played until I died. Wow, this is going to be great. Amazing Castlevania style color pallet, I love the compression on the sounds, definitelyhas the feeling like it was a classic game lost on some obscure 32-bit platform.

The ReadMe states that you can use a wired XBOX360 controller as an alternative to the keyboard. I have a USB convertor for my PC that allows me to use my PS2 controller for games. I can't seem to get my PS2 controller to work even after selecting the USB Controller option from the menu. Pardon my lack of knowledge in this area as I don't normally game on the PC, but does that mean you can ONLY use the 360 controller? Other USB alternatives are not compatible?

EDIT: lol, forget what I said! I just had to hit enter on my keyboard and then customize it manually. What an idiot! Whatever though, my impulse nature was too strong so I'm ready to check this game out! =)

The thing that's been holding the Wiiware version back in the US cert has been the DLC capability, for some reason. Presumably, they mean that they'll remove the capability for DLC from the US Wiiware version.
Yeah, from my understanding the dlc bumps things above the 42MB cap, and while NCL allows that I guess it's a no go for NOA/NOE these days.

At least we're still getting the main game though, and probably at a 30% discount.

So far I haven't run into bugs. Everything runs solidly, music and graphics are good, and gameplay wise so far the game has fixed everything that was wrong with the original game.

I approve of this release so far.

I've been looking forward to this since it was first announced for wiiware. I watched DC's run back when he first did that but I think I've hopefully forgotten everything. Well... except for a certain
ladder
in hell...

I got a 500 error when I completed my purchase too, but thankfully, since I checked the past few posts in this thread, I immediately checked my downloads, and sure enough, the purchase went through and La-Mulana was there. Added a warning to the OP.

I think I've read this comment before. Did something bad happen with Cave Story+ or NightSky?
Nicalis announced the WiiWare cancellation over twitter before informing Nigoro first iirc. There's also some question if they were holding up their end of the deal for certification/localization. Pretty shitty and shady on their part.

Grabbed La-Mulana. Nothing else on the site really caught my eye so far, but I like what you guys are doing and will keep an eye out.

I look forward to it.

By the way, if a game has DRM, where do you state it? Just want to make sure I don't accidentally get a game I can't play.
