Lady Gaga JUDAS Hype Thread [It'll be better this time, promise!]

I actually enjoyed Fame Monster (guilty pleasure) but both her singles coming out of this new album are just inexcusable levels of bad. I'm starting to think it may have been a fluke.

You guys are annoying. We need more Gaga fans in here.

She has fell of , ain't you heard her newest songs they clearly suck ass.

When people fall off the fans move on.

I agree with people that born this way and judas ain't as good as some of the songs on her last album, I do think shes taking herself too seriously now compared with before as well, maybe her popularity has gone to her head and it was just a lucky streak, but I remain hopeful she hasn't lost it just yet

Not a gaga fan, but the song ain't bad in a "pseudo deep wrapped in pop" kind of way. It's a good song as long as we admit that it's nothing original.

what is she doing warbling like a chocobo come on girl what the fuck is this shit

I can tolerate the hook, but is this seriously a song about Judas...

I love the song, and I loved it even more after hearing the (fan-made) instrumental. Reminds me a lot of Captain Tsubasa 2 (NES) which have one of my favorite soundtracks ever.

Legendary stuff. I don't understand the hate, nor I want to. :P

This song is awful.

It starts off kind of off-beat/weird, and I don't mind the whole "JUDAH AH AH AH AH" bit, but then she sings...and then gets to the chorus and it sounds like generic pop garbage. It just goes downhill.

Better than "Born this Way", but that song was so terrible it forced me not to listen to my favorite pop station for the past month.

She should have kept releasing singles from Fame Monster for a while.

Really, the only song that wasn't single-worthy from Fame Monster was So Happy I Could Die. Everything else certainly was.

I think she should have definitely released one more single. Dance In The Dark had potential to be magical.

Mind you this doesn't mean Born This Way would have come at a later time though. Her last TFM single was Alejandro in April, and Born This Way single came out in February of the next year. She could have fitted one more TFM single in the interim.

The hype hasn't gotten to her head, it's gotten to YOUR head. Expectations are what's killing these songs for people. Just because a song isn't as good as Bad Romance doesn't mean it's complete shit.

Also, it's funny seeing religious people getting offended by Judas.

Ugh, so much wrong with this. It's a marginal improvement over the atrocity that was Born This Way though, granted. Far too formulaic and she really needs some help with lyrics.

So apparently Luc Carl isn't playing Judas in the video clip as initially expected. It turns out Luc Carl just thinks that Judas is about him instead.

So, various sources are claiming Norman Reedus will be playing Judas in the video clip, most probably famous for his work in Boondock Saints.

Also, a recent interview from NME Magazine.

On the first single from Born This Way:
“The worst mistake I could have made was not putting out ‘Born This Way’ as the first record. It’s completely balls-to-the-wall, love-it-or-hate-it… Get in or get off the fucking boat. I gained a lot of new fans.”

On not being completely happy about her songs:
“I am perpetually unhappy with what I create. Even though I might tell you that ‘Edge of Glory’ is a pop masterpiece, when it’s all said and finished there will be things I dread, and every time I listen to it I’ll hear them.”

On criticism for being manufactured:
“Let me tell you something. If you fucking rip my hairbow and my wig off my fucking head, my shoes, my bra, every single thing on my body, and you throw me on a piano with a microphone, I will fucking make you cry.”

And a new song was also announced in the interview, apparently.

One of the songs in the album is called "Bloody Mary" and is sung from the perspective of Mary Magdalene. It's a spooky rave ballad

I think the overt religious tones are beginning to become a bit too much. Or at least like......her

As someone who prefers Piano Gaga to Pop Gaga, this elicits a "Just fucking do it then" from me.

So... does anyone here think she'll throw a curve-ball and reveal the real Born This Way cover today?

*hopes*
My guess at a curveball is she reveals she's really a transformer, the cover was from an actual photoshoot, and she motorcycles her way into the sunset.

Funnily enough I thought So Happy I Could Die was the best track off that album.

So how many times will she say the word baby in this new album?

It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were Born This Way, baby

My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars

She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir

"There's nothin' wrong with lovin' who you are"
She said, "'Cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up, girl and you you'll go far,
listen to me when I say"

I'm beautiful in my way,
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't hide yourself in regret,
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Ooo, there ain't no other way
Baby, I was Born This Way
Baby, I was Born This Way
Ooo, there ain't other way
Baby, I was Born-
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be!

Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth

In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my mouth

A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital H-I-M (Hey, Hey, Hey)
I love my life, I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe yah (Love needs faith)

I'm beautiful in my way,
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't hide yourself in regret,
Just love yourself and you're set

I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Ooo, there ain't no other way
Baby, I was Born This Way
Baby, I was Born This Way
Ooo, there ain't other way
Baby, I was Born-
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be!

Don't be drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent
You're lebanese, you're orient
Whether life's disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'Cause baby, you were Born This Way

No matter gay, straight or bi
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born to be brave

I'm beautiful in my way,
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't hide yourself in regret,
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

I was Born This Way, hey!
I was Born This Way, hey!
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way, hey!

I was Born This Way, hey!
I was Born This Way, hey!
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way, hey!

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Judas! Juda-as Judas! Juda-as
Judas! Juda-as Judas! GAGA

[Lady Gaga - Verse 1]
When he comes to me, I am ready
I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs
Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain
Even after three times, he betrays me

I’ll bring him down, bring him down, down
A king with no crown, king with no crown

[Chorus]

I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel
But still I'm in love with Judas, baby
I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel
But still I'm in love with Judas, baby

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Judas! Juda-as Judas! Juda-as
Judas! Juda-as Judas! GAGA

[Lady Gaga - Verse 2]
I couldn’t love a man so purely
Even darkness forgave his crooked way
I’ve learned love is like a brick you can
Build a house or sink a dead body
I’ll bring him down, bring him down, down
A king with no crown, king with no crown

[Chorus]
I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel
But still I'm in love with Judas, baby
I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel
But still I'm in love with Judas, baby

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

[Bridge]
In the most Biblical sense,
I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
But in the cultural sense
I just speak in future tense
Judas kiss me if offenced,
Or wear an ear condom next time

I wanna love you,
But something’s pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue,
And Judas is the demon I cling to
I cling to

[Chorus]
I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel
But still I'm in love with Judas, baby
I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel
But still I'm in love with Judas, baby

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Judas! Juda-as Judas! Juda-as
Judas! Juda-as Judas! GAGA

I loved her stuff pre-Alejandro. She knew how to get attention, that's for sure. But it irks me that this is how she's going about getting more attention.

For someone who embraces individuality, she's pretty good at alienating a lot of people in the process. I must sound like a neckbeard conservative or something.

Bah. In essence, I'm not a fan of hers anymore. :\

I didn't mind this gaga and even had a somewhat guilt pleasure enjoying it.

But whatever the hell led to this also killed any guilt pleasure I had with it.

The parts of this song like the chorus that have a little harder or dirtier feel sound good, but the super poppy bullshit like Madonna is rediculous. Go back to what worked instead of this Debbie Gibson shit. She thinks she's the daughter of Madonna.

More info on some of the songs.

Government Hooker

Gregorian pop chants, pervy robot voices (courtesey of Gaga's bodyguard, Pete), window-rattling beats, and the extraordinary line "Put your hands on me, JF Kennedy". Gaga: "The humour is that a machine in tells me what to do and I happily do it as long as I get fucked. It relates to how our government fuck us over, but it makes fun of the plastic popstar - 'I'll do anything as long as you fuck me and pay me'"

Road To Love (or Highway Unicorn)

With a soaring melody, nods to Springsteen and an industrial techno production represent the blueprint for 'Born This Way'. A unicorn is mentioned. "The sax in this and in 'Hair' and in 'Edge Of Glory' - is not just there for no reason. I grew up listening to much Springsteen and Billy Joel, so in a way, it represents my innocence."

Bloody Mary

A dark, pulsing and atmospheric, almost funeral electroballad, one of several tracks including 'Judas' with religious references. "I believe that Mary Magdalene was both fully divine and fully human. She has to be strong when Jesus fulfills the prophecy to die for everyone's sins, but she still has the moment of humanity where she's upset to let him go. She had to be a superstar, but she must have cried too."

We'll need three "it'll be better this time...promise!" threads for each of those songs I guess

JUDAS was pretty good. I don't see a need for them. I doubt these will be singles either.

Yeah, I definitely feel like the Alejandro video was a turning point in her career. Here's to hoping for less religion on her upcoming songs though

Loving this song more with every listen.

The siren/screaming "ahhhhhh ahh, ahh uh uh" that starts at 0:50 has been stuck my head something CRAZY.

This is such a grower and I can't get it out of my head. I had to get out of bed last night to play it so I could get it ot of the foreverloop between my ears.

Girl knows catchy.

Yeah, it's insanely catchy. Even more so than Born this Way.

Just curious, but do people automatically equate 'catchy' to 'good?'

Tons of pop songs and melodies are 'catchy,' but that doesn't necessarily make them great.

Yes, good music is usually catchy, but I don't think the reveserse is as true.

This song being a good example. I find myself repeating the 'ju-dah!' part in my head, but I'm not exactly sure that's a good thing.

Not really. First song that comes to mind is that awful 'Tubthumping' song which is catchy as hell but my most hated song of all time.

I honestly don't get the hate for this song - I'm really enjoying listening to it, that's all that matters really. I don't listen to a lot of pop stuff really but when I do, i just want something that has a hook that makes me want to play it again (goes without saying i guess..)

Honestly, I found Born this Way to be her least catchy single yet.

And while I don't care for Judas, I do agree that it's catchier than Born this Way.

Dunno what it was about it, it was always stuck in my head. Drove me f'n nuts - i always end up singing on the way to work and it was often that song. It's gone now.

I just didn't find the "I was born this wuuuh-hey...I was born this wuuuh-hey," garbage very catchy at all. Just annoying.
