Eh, she's still creatively bankrupt

Can't wait till she "adapts" Beethoven's "Ode to Joy". So fresh and royalty free!

One out of 5 other people saying that its the same loop isn't people wanting to believe everything. Its one person saying its stealing, because they had no idea that loop was royal free. It's nothing like Jesus on a grill cheese sandwich. Because it's common knowledge now that its the same loop that two (am prolly a bunch other) songs share. The whole reason this is important is because of her recent interview where she swears to not copy other music and gets her melodies from God. So that is her saying everything she puts out is 100% unique.

I think she said Born This Way's chorus came from God. Not all her work. U_U

Well, let's see, I specifically quoted the person so where in life did you get that I was referring to people is beyond me (my subsequent post with "people" was referring to the specific prior post).

Americano has a mariachi bridge. WIN!

It appears Americano and Marry The Night will be made available before the album releases as promo singles. I think it will be done through an iTunes countdown. I cant wait!

Camping out already.

Anyone got ideas for either a banner (yes, still) or a title for the OT?

And where was it confirmed that Americano would be out as a promo? I only heard that for Marry The Night although since it was confirmed as the third single, I'm pretty certain that won't be happening anymore, that interview is at least two months old.

I could try to mash up a banner but I don't believe it'll turn out spectacular (will PM you the result to avoid public humiliation if I get to it).

Where was Marry The Night confirmed as the third single by the way? Last I heard it was going to be a promo single.

On her MTVLA interview she mentions there's an Americano radio edit coming soon. Since Marry The Night is a promo single that might become an official single if the fans want it so.

Im just connecting the dots here though with the itunes countdown thing. A promo schedule that leak a week ago mentioned it as well. Seemed like the real deal

dayum, she should have done an acoustic version of Judas on Ellen, even her live performances are starting to become just like Madonna.

There is when she mentions it.

I've heard Americano will be played as people leave the last Monster Ball ever in Mexico. Since it matches and all.

And this is where she first mentioned the promo single of Marry The Night. This interview was made before Born This Way was even released as far as I'm aware.

How was that anything like Madonna? Seems she invented women singing live, dancing, blonde hair and anything to do with religious imagery.

You should be more concerned about those hideous blue pants she's wearing.
Agreed, though - she should have performed a different version. Video was meh. Way too much backing track.

Because her sitting at a piano improvising something that doesn't resemble any song of hers except for the lyrics doesn't get old at all...

Doesn't mean she has to sit at a piano, she could have just mixed it up with the dancing or something so she wasn't having to resort to singing over a backing track of her own vocals.

I watched the Ellen performance and was underwhelmed. She just looked really tired. Afterward though, I watched her earlier Ellen performances and they are really good. I agree she should have started off acoustic like she used to do, for Judas.

I wasn't really responding to you in particular. I was just expressing my dislike of how she does her acoustic versions. Long pauses, screaming, whispering, changing every note, gasping, slamming all keys at once, ... yeaaaah... that doesn't make for a great song. I know many people are 'won over' when they listen to her quirky acoustic performances, I on the other hand am just trying to figure out what song of hers she's butchering.

Haha, yeah I'm not a fan of that sorta stuff. This performance was so generic - something different might have worked better.

My banner didn't come out that terrible so I will post it here for all to judge:

I made it in Keynote (yeah, I know).

It will do. ^_^ It actually goes really well with the rest of my graphics.
I still think you should try to find someone with (a) talent and (b) a photo editor (not a presentation software).

Anyhow, I made another banner in the style of the album cover:

dis bitch

I prefer the first one. Simple but great. And not awful.

I tried to whip something together but I've forgotten how to use Photoshop, and the Photoshop on this computer is Elements so I can't use it the same as I used to. =(

I may try to whip something together but I wouldn't get my hopes up. =P

I really can't use Elements as well as I could use my good old Photoshop 9.0.1

I'll have to see if I can attempt to use my old desktop and whip up something a bit nicer.

Banner is done. The best thing is that if it's shit, I can just say I was paying homage to the album cover. ;D

Also, apparently Gaga is performing JUDAS and Marry The Night on Oprah on May 5th. Anyone else heard this?

I heard she was just performing You & I so I am kind of confused. =/

I would shit your pants (you heard me) if she performed Marry The Night so soon.

Let's hope the Judas performance is more impressive than her Ellen one :P

May 7 = HBO special. I am ready.

TBH, I was kinda joking when I said stealing. I was referring to Dr. lukes twitter (since there's a lot of Britney fans in here I just kinda presumed they had seen that and got the reference, lol). Most modern good songs do sample older tracks, IMO.

Then I guess the grill cheese sandwich bit shouldn't apply to anyone here. Like I was saying before.

By the way, I think the Ellen performance sounded awful. It really brought out the worst in Judas, all those discordant honks and jagged syllables. And the backing track dominated the whole thing.

Bad Romance and Government Hooker = the correct way to sing nonsense.

This is a genuine general question - do artists consider what they would have to do to perform a song live whlie writing / producing it?

Maybe Gaga is still working out what to do with Judas when she's live? >_>

Oh look at me making excuses. =/

lol @ the GaGa stans trending #DrGeneric in retaliation to Dr. Luke's retweet lmfao and the Britards got mad.

Stan Wars are funny lol

I'm as guilty a Gaga fan as any (and despite even not liking Born This Way much, I actually caught myself humming it a little this week)....but is Judas a joke? Heard it for the first time during the Ellen performance. What a terrible song. That Jud-AHSSS part that opens the song makes the poor girl sound like a fucking bird having a stroke. Who thought that was a good idea? I haven't bothered looking at the lyrics, I'm just talking about the sound of the song. Dismal. Not looking forward to hearing this one all summer long.

For me, the biggest problem with the performance (and a lot of her performances, but it's really coming to a head now) was that she was simply trying to do too much. While I appreciate her insistence to always give her fans live vocals and never lip-sync, even with the backing track she was trying to sing damn-near every line while hitting damn-near every step. The result being that neither aspect of the performance was very good, and she was visibly winded by the second verse.

If she really wants to put on action-packed performances with complex choreography, she's going to have to occasionally lip-sync. I've said this in defense of the Britneys and Janets and Madonnas of the world: as long as you've got a good song and you're putting on an amazing visual performance, most people won't care if you lip-sync at least part of it.

Or she could adopt the tried-and-true pop performance template of jumping out of the choreo to sing the verses live and interact with the audience, then jumping back in the choreo for the chorus while being assisted by a backing track or singers.

Oh, and as a dancer, I've never liked Laurie Ann Gibson's choreography. Ever. It always looks like what someone in their first year of performing arts school with too much to prove would do.

I wouldn't really go by that performance - it was dreadful, and I quite enjoy Judas as a catchy pop song. Was that choreographer the one who did "Telephone"? I love the crazy dance they do at the end of that video. But yeah, this one was just trying too hard. Boooo!

Actually that loop was obtained from a royalty free ESSENTIALS MIX CD or something of that sort. So none of them are in the wrong.

Plus JUDAS was recorded a long time ago in 2010

Seems Loli Lux sent that track to Gaga's producer a while back, and heard nothing. Ooops!

Wannabe is the much better track as well, it's built round that loop far more effectively. Judas sounds like several Gaga songs bolted together, and the Juda Juda-ahh bit is laughable.

You guy's didn't like the Ellen performance? I enjoyed the singing more than the actual track. Her voice wasn't all weird (tone wise) like it was on the track.

julls said:
Oh shit! Really? haha! Poor Loli

Might work in her favour in the long-run, I'd never heard of her before but this Wannabe track is really good for electro-pop.

Clear which came first though.

Where have you heard it?

It seems the discussion may have moved from Judas, but I thought I'd just drop my two cents:

This song seriously sounds like something I would have played in DDR 3rd Mix =\

For that reason...I liked it.

Gibson has been choreographing every single Gaga performance since Poker Face.

Even earlier actually, since 2008 with the MuchMusic awards.
