who plays Judas?

I feel like I recognize him, and I like what I feel

Overall messy video though. I enjoyed it but.. hmm I really hated the dress at the end but my friend said it made her look like a piñata? I think that made it more ok

Didn't like it quite as much as her older videos (Alejandro, Bad Romance, Poker Face and Telephone), but it's way, way better than the turd that was the Born this Way video.

Pretty cool dancing too.

Of yeah, don't get me wrong, she has a great body (if not a bit too thin, I like a bit more meat on dem bones), but I'm more of a 'dat face' kind of guy. Maybe I got used to seeing her with weird lumps on her face and no seeing her without them is like seeing her in a new light. Heh.
I am a face man too, but I appreciate a good ass.

And yes, I can agree with you, seeing her with the spikes for the past 3 months turned me off too. Glad her face is back the way it was.

Stefani Pre-Gaga was cute as hell.

I liked it, though I'm interested to see the 7 minute version I've heard about. There was some interesting visuals in the video and she didn't overdo the biblical imagery at all.

Cool vid. I felt like saying "Stop pushing your hair over your face!" Ending coulda showed more dancing, Telephone style. She looks great! That last outfit was awesome.

I think it's out within the next thirty minutes.

If Edge is hitting on Monday I might as well post the OT then, especially since there's not HEAPS of reception to the video, just yet.

We'll see though.

Is Edge of Glory being released on iTunes on Monday??

Three radio stations have tweeted that they have the track and that they're playing it on Monday.

Kinda weird Gaga said MTN and Americano would be promo singles but now Edge is.

The new You and I sounds amazing. I love the new "Jesus Christ" line that was added in too. I'm a super atheist but I appreciate a concept album that has motifs that bring everything together, and in this case she's gone with Biblical imagery. I don't blame her for it, coz there's a lot to work with. And the Judas video showed how fun it can be too, lol

Jesus is hot.

Major...major improvement over the ‘Born this way’ video. I like this one quite a lot!

It had class with that touch of Gaga weirdness over just stupid weirdness. Approved!

Just watched this. I like this a lot, and Gaga is looking good in the video. The little hip sway at 1:25-1:27 is probably the sexiest thing I've seen in a video that isn't porn in a long time. It helps that the song is awesome, too. Actually probably my favorite Gaga song yet.

lol, the first few Gaga music videos were so bad. You can tell she wanted to take it somewhere but didn't really have the funds for it. Except in the case of Just Dance, which was just.. there.

The music video wasn't bad. Nice dancing, didn't smack me over the head with references.

The hell? I'd hate to see a video you think smacks you over the head with references if you didnt think this one did.

Hey, they filmed that in the Universal Studios back lot.

Plus it looks like a mix of the 5 and the 101 at the beginning.

Since Gaga's previous two music videos were actually short films, I didn't anticipate that Judas' would have a more traditional format. On first viewing the video was less than I expected. Not worse, just less elaborate than I'd pictured. No wacky filmic narrative leading into the song. After my second viewing I really liked it. There's a lot of strong, thematically consistent imagery that feels very Gaga. The last costume is rather grand. I got a Cleopatra-esque vibe for some reason (probably from the hair shape and eye makeup). I'd like to see her rock some ancient Egyptian-inspired outfits sometime.

Considering how Judas is steeped in religious references, I thought the video might be kind of preachy, or feature something openly blasphemous like Gaga sucking on a crucifix or licking blood off Jesus' mouth or whatever. But no, it's all fairly restrained by Gaga's standards—even, dare I say, tasteful. A well-adjusted person would have to try pretty hard to be offended by any of its content.

Is Bad Romance's video included in "the first few Gaga music videos"? Personally, I think that that was much more interesting than Judas' video is - Telephone was also good, but it was overly long.

This was playing in an internet cafe a few minutes ago.

Weird. I thought we had decided that Judas and Born This Way sucked so much that they made the rest of her career retroactively suck and that she wouldn't be getting airplay anymore.

Power of marketing, I guess.

Can someone please try to explain to me the meaning behind Judas and the music video?

I'm trying to hope it's tasteful and not openly blasphemous and disrespectful to Christianity, but at surface level, it comes off as if she's just butchering the gospel and one of the most hated betrayers in history for shock value and reactions.

I watched the video but I'm still confused as to what it was trying to say.

I'm just guessing, but she's always horny but regrets her sexual desires because she deep down inside wants to be a good girl.

If Christianity is the ultimate truth of the universe it shouldn't really matter how a little Italian girl in pointy attire retells part of its story.

Anyway, the basic concept seems to be that Gaga wants to be good but keeps finding herself attracted to bad boys. The religious stuff serves mainly to link the song to the central concept of the album; religion, self-acceptance, and equality are apparently Born This Way's primary themes.

Nah, I was mostly referencing Just Dance/Pokerface/LoveGame/Eh,Eh/Beautiful Dirty Rich. They had varying degrees of quality but nothing about them really screamed GaGa until Paparazzi.

Bad Romance and Judas actually have a lot in common, in terms of direction and choreography. They're just really, really well done videos. Telephone and Alejandro were a bit too overproduced, but I like that they present the polar opposites of Gaga. One is a celebration (or critique) or pop culture and it's riddled with product placements, ridiculous props and over the top camp. The other is a dramatic commentary on religion and politics, and I think most of that commentary went over people's heads.

Born This Way's intro, while long, is definitely the best video piece she's ever done. It was an awesome set up for the concept of the album, and it didn't hurt that it sampled one of the most famous movie soundtracks of all time. I can understand why some didn't like the rest of the video (or all of it) but I thought it had a whimsical value to it that I've never seen out of her before (i.e. she looked like she was just really fucking happy doing that song) so I really love that video.

Judas is her best looking video yet, and like Alejandro, I think the commentary will go over people's heads, but I'm pretty sure she knows that'll happen. She likes using dense content and letting the video speak for itself, although it usually ends with her having to explain it on a radio show the day after its release.

Loving the video more after each viewing (and this is on the small iPhone screen). It's just pure aesthetic indulgence. Might become my favorite video of hers.
