last game you gave up on

For me this gen is Monster hunter world, I like to play most games solo but MHW is more fun with people, also the gamplay is too slow for my taste, after a couple of hours i stopped and i didn't come back to it.

It might be Sekiro. Must have tried the second Owl fight sixty times. I don't remember anything from Soulsborne being so extreme as Sekiro.

Never gave up on a game. Why would you play something that you're not sure you're interested in? There's previews, reviews, let's plays, metascore. It's not like there's unlimited amount of genres out there, or unlimited amounts of story beats. Choose an play what you like.

You're weird op, and need some CBT. And money management tips.

It's Not that simple bro, and its not about money either, sometimes you borrow a game from a friend or buy it dirt cheap just to see what the hype was about, then you find yourself not like it that much.

In a previous post I mentioned giving up on trails of cold steel 3, but decided to give it a second chance and was able to get past the boss giving me a hard time.

Before that though was tales of zestiria. I can see why everyone was happy Hideo Baba left. Berseria and vesperia were much better.

I agree, it's never that simple. There are tons of factors and little things which can make someone drop a game they purchased even if they've done a proper research and ended up hyped to play it.

what's the last game any of you guys or gals gave up on? i don't mean a game you tried once and stopped playing, i mean a game you put considerable time into only to shelve for one reason or another

for me its hollow knight - the difficulty along with the basic combat system, currency system, charm system and backtracking made the game a slog to play after several hours, which is a shame because i really enjoyed the world that was presented to me

Outer Worlds. Just couldnt stand it. Tried 3 times and then just quit. Dont feel like iam missing out.

Furthermore i cant stand the boyish girls in the game. Thought it were some little boys created by pedophiles.

Then i saw the women who created them...

I get that this is your experience, but as you probably got from my post I really can't relate on any level. There are limited amount of genres / themes / artstyles to explore. You get a crossover between at least two of them and you'll enjoy the game bar it being completely broken, which you can avoid not buying the game on the day of its release.

I don't "try" games out. I know what I like and entertain myself with that particular purchase. If you're not born yesterday and the game you're trying out today isn't your first one, you know what you enjoy.

What you just said makes you look close minded to me , because if you limit your media consumption to something you enjoyed or had a positive experience in the past then how can you find something new to enjoy? For example people who disliked any souls games at first based on the difficulty , but after a while the game clicked for them and they beat it, now they regarded it as one of the best games they ever played, and they look forward to the next project, in a similer way you can go for a new game that is up your alley, from a series that you enjoyed in the past, just to find that in the end it didn't meet your expectations. going back to your point about looking up a game before you buy it, sure you can do that and it always recommended to do so, but you can't always know for sure that you will love it if your avoiding spoilers ofcourse, if not than why bother playing at all.

Hellblade. I kept wanting it to be a game, but eventually abandoned hope and never looked back.

I will never even consider playing a Ninja Theory "game" ever again.

I just started this. I got my first achievement (after walking & walking...), had a little fight (which seemed like I was scripted to lose) & now I'm off walking again. All with annoying whispers.

So far it's one of those "games" where someone's enjoyment depends on how much he/she enjoys the omnipotent narrative & hand of the devs thrusting "you must experience feelz here" down the player's throat. Personally speaking when I'm slow walking with an annoying whispering voice in my ear, I only feel boredom & annoyance.

Bring back Akuji the Heartless. That was gameplay > feels.

Blair Witch. Walked around the first forest area, saw a hat clue behind some twigs, couldn't reach it. Stopped caring.

Medievil Remastered.
The difficulty is managable, but there's virtually no way to attack enemies without taking any hits. No mid stage checkpoints make this annoying when I die and have to replay huge portions of the stage. Not a pleasant experience.

Two games that seem great, but...........

Cuphead. Hard as fuck. I gave up on the Sunflower boss.

Darkest Dungeon. Everything seems awesome........ except the party system where you have to swap characters in and out due to fatigue/disease/morale. I just want to plow through the game with my 4 chosen classes. Not do revolving door sessions with 10 other characters I don't want.
