Dagger.

I think Willco's biggest problem is that he was too overbearing. He just came on too strong. Also, nobody is going to defend Leno and actually mean it. Furthermore, telling people you're going to go troll prior to trolling is a bit like a Russian spy walking around with a "Stalin is great" t-shirt. Maybe we should give him some trolling tips so that he may be more successful in the future.

Whatever helps you guys sleep easier at night. I know I will once Jay is back on at 11:35.
There's a deeper meaning here, I just know it...

Aw, hell, just slap a Shamaylamamayyan.jpeg on it... :lol

So what's everyone's expectations on where Conan is going next?

I think FOX seems most obvious, but I really hate a 3 way split on that timeslot. I think Conan has a better shot of rubbing it in on NBC if he can somehow get Letterman's spot so its just him against Leno and whoever his successor is.
I think Conan goes to Fox and they try to build a late night block that competes with NBC/CBS, eg. FOX Tonight and Late FOX or whatever they decide to call them. They'll give it 3 years minimum, and Conan will have written into his contract that if he isn't on XX% of affiliates by 2012, he reserves the right to move to another network/show (Late Show with Conan O'Brien).

Personally I think that a late night Fox block would work great, especially if they could convince Jon Stewart or Colbert to take the 12:00 PM slot.

I decided to look at that other forum and Willco is banning BrandNew for sinking his troll. The troll would have been obvious with or without BrandNew.

Just like Leno, blaming everyone but himself. *shakes head in shame*

oh dude let it go, I was just having fun with willco. He knows it's not my life's purpose to foil his trolls.

It's all cool.

Maybe the true intent was to create a troll so obvious that we all jumped to mock him for it. It was a meta-troll.

Well played, Willco. Well played.

Conan O'Brien can get a whole lot of money from NBC as a parting gift, but there will be strings attached -- not the least of which ... Conan cannot trash the network.

Sources tell us NBC wants a liquidated damages clause if Conan says anything disparaging about the network once he leaves. Essentially that means there is a clause in the contract that says Conan will automatically pay a predetermined amount of money if he says bad things about NBC.

And, as we have previously reported, NBC will demand that Conan not take another hosting job for a certain period of time.

Sources say NBC will be paying Conan a hefty sum, but that will be offset by any amount Conan makes for his next hosting gig. So if Conan makes a deal with FOX, NBC can reduce the amount it pays Conan by the amount FOX forks over.

FYI -- we've learned Conan's existing contract already has an offset clause in the event he leaves NBC and takes another job.

Bottom line -- Conan won't be taking NBC to the cleaners.

Sign a $1 contract with Fox, Conan. PLEASE! That would be legendary

:lol what a bunch of pussies.

I eagerly anticipate NBC's further collapse.

He should take that deal. His first day on his new show, if he gets one, he should say "Fuck you NBC" and then throw a 5-dollar bill at the camera.

He may not be able to say anything about NBC but I hope that's not going to stop him from going on Stern and Letterman and sit there while they bash NBC for him, maybe even throw in a few sarcastic "NBC is number 1!" lines.

Also, what the hell is with TMZ, they never have clear pictures of any celebrity, it's always grains or something. These people are all over the place, their pictures are everywhere. These are famous people, not Big Foot.

Well, we have one more excellent week of Conan. I have the last episode set to record for PVR because I expect it to be magnificent and something worth keeping.

We might not be able to keep Conan but I for one will be blocking all NBC networks from the house once Conan is off the air (which the cable provider knows about and knows why, not to mention the others in my area following suit)

Conan signs for $1 at Fox, and this is his press release -

"This will cost me a lot of money, but I don't care: Fuck you, NBC."
That's not legal, Fox can't artificially pay Conan a low salary for the remainder of his NBC contract.

this new?

The Masturbating Bear is dead.

As a deal nears for Conan O'Brien's exit from NBC, one thing is certain: The characters and recurring comedy bits O'Brien originated during his 16-plus years on "Late Night" and "The Tonight Show" will not follow the host when he leaves NBC.

The Peacock owns the intellectual property behind such popular O'Brien characters as Pimpbot 5000 and Conando, as well as recurring segments such as In the Year 3000 and Desk Driving. Sources involved in the settlement negotiations say NBC is keeping the copyrighted and trademarked elements of O'Brien's shows as part of the deal. That means the bits and characters will likely never be seen after O'Brien's "Tonight" ends its run Jan. 22.

While the vast majority of the characters O'Brien introduced are said to owned by NBC, it's unclear who controls Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, the crass canine puppet that is perhaps O'Brien's most popular recurring bit. Triumph was originated by writer and longtime O'Brien pal Robert Smigel, whose reps declined to comment on whether Smigel or NBC owned rights to the character.

In 1993, David Letterman got into a dustup with NBC when he departed "Late Night" for CBS' "Late Show." NBC attorneys attempted to prevent Letterman from taking intellectual property originated on "Late Night" to the comic's new home. Letterman responded by dropping certain bits and renaming other recurring segments -- "Viewer Mail" became "CBS Mailbag" and frequent guest Larry "Bud" Melman began referring to himself by his real name, Calvert DeForest. Letterman mocked the dispute on his first "Late Show" when NBC anchor Tom Brokaw interrupted the monologue and stole cue cards in the name of securing NBC's intellectual property.

O'Brien, if he lands at another late-night show, might be in a tougher spot. Unlike comic personalities Letterman and Jay Leno, O'Brien began his career as a writer on "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons," and his shows relied more heavily on the cleverly scripted bits and outrageous characters.

Losing those assets could hurt O'Brien as he looks for another home, although his "Tonight" had featured fewer of the characters than "Late Night" and the host -- who is considered one of the top comedy writers in the business -- may be looking for a fresh start. Sources close to him said he was not interested in taking his NBC characters with him.

CEO's and other professional agree to small salaries all the time. As long as he doesn't say "only pay me $1 because I want to fuck NBC" I think it'd be fine.

Whew, thank God this whole ordeal is over.

As I have said all along, Conan is - quite simply - a hack. He couldn't hang with the big boys at 12:35 AM, and he couldn't even last in Los Angeles for a year. What a joke. Maybe if you guy spent as much time watching his show as talking about it online and watching YouTube clips, he wouldn't have gotten the axe. But what else should I expect from an audience of twenty-something, apathetic slackers that are easily amused by irreverent non-humor and frantic (albeit lame) physical comedy.

I should be thanking you all for doing me a favor, and helping Leno get his old job back - The Tonight Show will finally be watchable again. I was almost getting used to going to bed early.

This just goes to show you, NBC should have never have attempted to replace the most popular and most likable late night personality in the business. Regardless of what a bunch of competitors and fringe comedians say, Leno has always been one of the most respected men in Hollywood. Yeah, rally around Patton Oswalt and some other guy I have never heard of, but disregard comments by Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Reiser - men who have had actual, real careers.

The best part about this is Conan is done. I'll never have to hear about him again, because even if Fox is able to get just two-thirds of its affiliates to air him a year or two from now, he'll never be able to compete against Leno or Letterman. Or better yet, send him off to the fringes of cable, where he can become completely irrelevant. I'm sorry, I'm just a little bit ecstatic about the fact that Conan has nowhere to go but down.

The smartest thing NBC has ever done is jettison this red-haired loser from the network. He couldn't maintain his lead in his old time slot, and he couldn't do it in his new one. If Fox wants to bank on a proven loser, fine by me. We can watch Conan crash and burn, and Fox will go another decade before attempting another late night show.

Awesome.:D

You like Jay Leno. Other people like Letterman. Yet other's like Conan. Some like them all. Grow up.

edit: I've been bamboozled

You mean, one person who's not John Swarzwelder. Dude could Aaron Sorkin The Simpsons FOR YEARS.

Everyone knows this.

The Simpsons has lost a shitload of talent.

Groening hasn't been hands on in years. Brad Bird left.

Early 90's Simpsons is a who's who of animation.

Willco is the Jay Leno of trolls.

I thought you retired from GAF, you hack! Why don't you make room for new troll talent?

Timedog is the hero GAF deserves, but not the one it needs.

That's awful...wow, just wow. I hope he hasn't let his legal deal give the final yes to this already. Conan should seriously just mess with them now, stick with the current contract, and TAKE the 30 min bump just to humiliate and frustrate them. Sure, there's tons of bad blood that would make it mega uncomfortable for awhile, but I say just ride it out, keep your characters, keep your ability to slam the network and sit pretty with the public until Comcast comes in to nuke the joint later.

You're a better troll than Willco!

Maybe he is referring to how NBC as a network is failing completely and horribly and shouldn't be allowed to retain Conan's characters? :lol I wish

Maybe people should realize that people have gone on the record of stating Conan is doing better than when Leno started? Leno didn't magically start with a big audience and he alienated the majority of Carson's :lol

Conan wasn't given a real chance and people need to figure that out before they troll like idiots :lol
