omg he sat in his car with his PROM suit on PROM night too?? that is soooo funny !!!!:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

yeah, if you think that crap is official, you're off your rocker.

To the guys posting facepalms, he's talking about the 5 or 6 "ConansX" accounts on twitter that respond to the actual Conan's twitter posts. In response to sitting in the Oscars in his prom tux, one of the unfunny response accounts posted "that's what he did on prom night, too."

I agree with him. They're pretty obviously just random fans trying to cash in on Conan.

Edit - And Leno doesn't have to blame shit. He has job security and will ultimately prove to get better and more reliable ratings than Conan, like it or not. Just because Letterman beats him every once in awhile doesn't mean he's number one. What's aggravating about Leno getting his job back is not so much the injustice of Conan leaving as it is complete slackjawed disbelief that anyone likes Leno at all.

Some idiot talking head on the ORLY FACTOR just said that the reason Leno is now beating Letterman in the ratings after Letterman was beating Conan is that Leno is funnier than Conan.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAGE

Yeah, damn old people....

This Leno beating Letterman thing would be easier to handle if I knew a single person in real life who liked him.

I mean, I look at Letterman as an institution, a comedic genius even if he phones it in more with age, and the heir to Carson's legacy. Meanwhile we've got Leno who's basically a hacky '80s observational stand-up who sucked up his way to the Tonight Show. He's the kind of guy who should be doing the nostalgia dinner theater circuit or something.

I just don't understand who the hell likes Leno. Everyone I know hates his guts. Yeah, I see the numbers and demographics, but I've never heard anyone go, "Man, Jaywalking is pretty damn funny!" You know?

I know one person, in the 18-49 demo, that likes Leno, even the Jay Leno Show.

And let's not forget that Leno's standup in the 80s was actually quite good, he was no hack. Something happened when he took over the Tonight Show though.

I know lots of people in Europe that likes Jaywalking, mostly because it just adds to the idea they have of everyone in USA being a retard.

Fox Puts Pressure on Stations Over Conan

Posted Mar 18th 2010 3:06AM by TMZ Staff

Fox execs have been in touch with several affiliates, "applying pressure" to put Conan O'Brien on the air between 11 and midnight ... sources tell TMZ.

It's the clearest sign so far that Conan is going to Fox.

Our sources say Fox execs and Conan's reps have been "seriously talking," though no deal has been made.

Some of the Fox affiliates have been resistant to running a Conan show, because they'd make more money with the current schedule of sitcom reruns such as "The Office."

Several execs at the affiliate stations are saying they have felt the pressure from Fox honchos to take O'Brien's show.

And we've learned execs at several major Fox affiliates are saying a deal is "imminent."

As a sucker punch to Letterman/CoCo fans I really like Leno. Not that it matters much since I'm not really that invested in late night, I just find Leno a more amiable person than that nasty Letterman.

Saw it on TV.com, it's happening faster than I thought.

No reason to hold off getting the deal done. It gives them the time they need to get everything ready so the show can start airing pretty close to when Conan can go back on TV.

Leno can be nasty though. He has no problem making fun of people either. Just look at Jaywalking, the whole bit is basically about insulting his audience. And by all accounts he is quite the nasty businessman.

Whether or not I find any famous person amiable does not effect my enjoyment of their work. I much prefer Letterman's delivery to Leno's and even Conan's. None of them have particularly funny monologues though, so that doesn't bother me. Conan easily has the best bits, and Letterman can be the best interviewer depending on how he feels about the guest. Jay just doesn't grab me in any way.

Both the content and the style of this post make me think you're a 75-year old woman.

because leno has no spine. All he does is kiss ass, and does safe comedy....with no intention of improving or changing. His nasty side only comes out behind people's back when he stabs them.

Safe comedy can work pretty well (old Bill Cosby comes to mind), but Leno lost his meager talents for comedy the moment he began tickling NBC's balls.

You're a terrible person, and deserve to have bad things happen to you.

NBC Nixes Conan 'Give Back' With 'Idol'
Peacock denies request as its former late-night host finalizes deal to join Fox
By Marisa Guthrie

Conan O'Brien's presumed debut on Fox will have to wait until the fall after all, following NBC's refusal to allow the late-night host to appear on Fox's Idol Gives Back.

Executives at Idol producer Fremantle Media approached NBC, seeking permission to have O'Brien appear on Idol's April 21 annual charity broadcast, according to multiple sources. The entreaty was rejected by NBC
, which negotiated a $32 million separation agreement with O'Brien that keeps him off television until Sept. 1. NBC would not comment.

And this fall is when O'Brien is expected to join Fox full time, according to sources with knowledge of network and affiliate plans. The network now hopes to make the announcement with O'Brien at its May 17 upfront presentation in New York. Fox declined comment.
O'Brien is also prohibited from saying anything that a “reasonable person” would find disparaging of NBC until Sept. 1. But he could appear onstage at the Fox upfront.

On April 12, O'Brien will hit the road for his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour.” There is no tour date on his schedule on May 17, the day of the Fox upfront presentation. He's scheduled to be in Kansas City on May 16 and Minneapolis on May 18.

O'Brien's representatives have also been shopping for studio space and are said to be keen on his old Tonight Show studio on the Universal lot, which cost $50 million to build and is only useful for variety programs with a studio audience. But NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker has not yet decided whether he will rent the space to O'Brien, who reveled in sticking it to NBCU executives during his final weeks on The Tonight Show.

Fox has not cleared an O'Brien program with affiliates, and many of them have been lukewarm to the idea since they have lucrative syndicated fare or local news in place in late night. The Fox affiliate board is scheduled to meet on April 13 in Las Vegas.
Some affiliate group heads say they would keep syndicated sitcoms in place at 11 p.m. and push O'Brien to midnight. (Ironically, it was NBC's proposal to push The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien to 12:05 a.m. that prompted him to bolt the network.)

Numerous affiliates say they have not been approached by Fox about its plans for O'Brien. “We haven't heard a thing from the network,” says a general manager at a leading Fox affiliate. “All we know is what we read in the trades.”

While O'Brien to Fox was considered inevitable by many, that didn't stop multiple suitors from making proposals, including syndicators CBS and Debmar-Mercury.

Fox has tried numerous times to mount a late-night franchise, where even moderate success can yield many millions in ad dollars, despite the daypart showing some vulnerability in recent years.

CBS' Late Show With David Letterman brought in $271 million in ad revenue for 2009, according to data compiled by Advertising Age. The Tonight Show reaped $175.6 million, and ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live took in $138.1 million.

For Fox, a successful, long-running late-night franchise would be the final piece in its programming oeuvre, and could raise the top-rated network's leverage during upcoming retransmission consent negotiations.

Huh. Not at all the distribution I'd have expected.

And my boycott of NBC will continue. Looking forward to Conan on Fox in the fall.
This post, it sums up my thoughts perfectly.

And yes, they did give him millions to basically stay off air til fall, but it's their fault for mismanaging the whole situation in the first place. So they fucked up and now they're just being dicks about it.

Cosby might not have been offensive, but he was not unimaginative.

Hmm.... Fox Reportedly Plans Conan Announcement On May 17

Fox plans to announce officially that Conan O'Brien will be joining the network at its annual upfront presentation to advertisers on May 17, BroadcastNewsroom.com reported that while O'Brien is racing across the country with his one-man show, "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour," he has left open the May 17 date. Fox still has its affiliates to appease, some of whom are doing quite nicely during the late-night hours with syndicated features.

Conan should go to the FOX charity thing, but un-mic'ed and have a big black censored by NBC bar over him and next to him have an impersonator of him copying everything he does and says on stage so it can be broadcast. Would be the stuff of legends.
