League of Legends or DoTA 2

The thing is I believe I've gotten good like I don't get called noob ever. But I'll probably not ever play it again. I really see no reason to.

Some stuff in Dota2 just seems like its their to be there like the secret shops and the couriers. And the way the game works it just doesn't feel like everyone is contributing as much as you do in LoL.
You believe you've gotten good in 20 games? Not everyone contributing?

In 20 games you don't even understand what the hell is going on. You don't know other hero abilities to comment on who is doing what. You're barely getting a goodngrip on your own abilities. You don't understand the team fights or how teams want to initiate them. You don't know what items to purchase. In 20 games...you're still learning how the shop system works.

1,000 matches later, I'm still learning with every match. if you think you're "good" in 20 games (I guess that means 10-15 wins), well...nope.

I like both and though I mostly play DOTA2 these days because my friends I play with prefer it for nostalgia reasons, I actually prefer some mechanics from LoL that will never be introduced in DOTA at this point. I played a few hundred hours at least of DOTA Allstars back in college and love the game in general, but have less fun with it in competitive 5v5 matches than LoL..

1. I really enjoy the playstyle of heroes like Janna where I can actually SCALE as a support, and the low mana costs of abilities relative to DOTA2 makes these heroes more fun for me (I get to use abilities more often)
2. I much prefer the reduced reliance on hard stun mechanics in LoL. This is probably a symptom of playing low-mid tier games in Dota2, but I really hate running into teams where I can be locked up for 8-10 seconds at a time. I know I can buy a BKB and there are strategies to counteract.. but as a general rule I don't find this kind of design fun.

Both mechanics as they stand in DOTA are important for sure - high mana costs (especially early) lead to careful and strategic ability usage, and fear of stunlock discourages glass cannon builds and pushing recklessly. But sometimes the other way is just more fun for me (not saying this is globally true).

I can certainly see how DOTA retains more depth and competitive balance at high skill levels, which is why it's great that both games exist...

I think Dota 2 is a more competitive game and LoL is more casual friendly, I've only played a few hours of Dota and I suck at denying minions in fact I was a bit frustrated so I think I'll stick with LoL and keep playing Dota every now and then only if I manage to get a full team of friends

So I've been out of GAF (and the internet) for a few months, has HonGAF mostly moved on to Dota 2 right now?

Is the crew still around? I see some posting here (bzm, bokr, tomat, neki, etc) but how about everyone else?

You're first 30 games are almost always relegated to the low tier bracket unless your playing with 2-3 other high tier players. Some people with 40 games end up thinking they are amazing for going 20-0, and then you look up the game tier and it ends up being low or mid (which is basically the kiddie pool, hell half the people in high tier aren't that great).
