Like us, the person writing the analysis knows nothing of MS's intentions with Battlenet nor the value of the service. So Sony sees value in Battle .net. I thought that MSFT would get rid of it in favor of Steam, but maybe not now?

Any basis to this?
343 has been the biggest source of Halo Infinite lies.So you guys are going to trust a random German podcast that started spreading this rumour and fanboys ran with, over an industry insider and Stinkles who worked for 343i in a high position at the time.....
…what?
You posted a link that you claimed debunked something but didn't actually do so. I asked for clarification, and suddenly I have a German podcast fetish?
To quote my words that YOU also quoted: "I'm not saying the number is accurate or not," I'm just curious about what, exactly, your claim is. I don't really give a shit how much the game cost, you just happened to pique my curiosity. If it's all too much for you, though, never mind.
Is it showing as white/bunch of numbers and letters? If so, same to me lol. You can right click them and "Open image in new tab".Can you repaste it somehow or paste the links? On my browser it comes out as broken links.
343 has been the biggest source of Halo Infinite lies.
Not a lie - lol
Are you Drunk?Do you honestly believe Halo infinite cost 500 million to develop? lol
Are you Drunk?
Discuss that in the Dev cost thread, not in this one.
Not that I don't believe you but are we sure the slide is fake? The two images in my OP are taken from this gamingleaks megathread, specifically this comment:True.
But as some folks pointed out elsewhere, it is clearly a fake. If you look at the bottom-right corner, you can see Insomniac's faded logo on the images.Someone took the Insomniac's leaked slide, faded the logo but botched the job, and added this text.
This slide, if real, would have no business of having the Insomniac logo on it, as it'd be a matter of top SIE leadership.
P.S. I've no idea why this thread is still going oncc:
Thick Thighs Save Lives
I cant keep up with all these threads and I am not sure why my browser has linked that here when I quoted and replied to the original thread...strange.

Any basis to this?
I cancelled mine this January for the 1st time in 6 years. Likely never going back to it.They're right about the Ps plus. I've had Ps Plus since the Ps3. On the Ps5 I only have it active from time to time and most of the time it's not worth it for me. And with this strange switch to extra and premium, they have completely lost me. But Gamepass is always active.
I am a PC and Switch only gamer. I know how dirty Nintendo plays with BC and digital libraries so when push comes to shove and Nintendo inevitably screws their digital eco system up I will hack the Switch and dump my purchases on PC. I am not much of a handheld player, but love a lot of Nintendo exclusives. There is also a lot of Japanese or console exclusive games from third parties on Switch so I get them there....everything else I get on PC.Exactly. This is why I'm only buying stuff on PC these days.
So COD is only till 2027 like I thought I read...
So Sony sees value in Battle .net. I thought that MSFT would get rid of it in favor of Steam, but maybe not now?
That's not quite true, Bungie's purchase is 100% a reaction to Activision acquisition.I think this is great that they recognise it but how will they respond.
We've seen no action up till now.
Its just been "oh no, this is happening" with no response.
I would have expected something being ready for the Activision merger of some kind but weve got nothing.
No one is waiting around for this to happen, MS will begin their push in 2024, so Sony has to respond. Some quick easy wins.
- PC launcher/Store with some big hitters, H:FW for example with cross save progression and trophies
- Now we've had the leak, release the roadmap officially in a big event, it would have far reaching impact and tease a PS5 pro
- Invest in your cloud operation and release an app on mobile
- Double down on what your good at, single player, iterative experiences. Do more like valhalla as your "live service"
Do all of this in q1/2 2024 and youll have a strong foothold into 25, but honestly sony aint gonna do this and expect them to stagnate.
Yikes! this crusade of yours is not only unhealthy but its toxic.Absolutely wild that this leaks after days of Sony fans telling us all that Microsoft is dead and has no chance in gaming and needs to release all of their games on Playstation, like tomorrow....
<Meanwhile at Sony HQ

Delusional Neogaf: "xbox is a non competitor."
The announcement of Sony buying Bungie was made 13 days after the announcement of MS buying Activision, seems like a little bit too fast of a turnaround for stuff like this. That's not quite true, Bungie's purchase is 100% a reaction to Activision acquisition.
Single player games are cool but I also dig me some multiplayer and/or co-op action too. Someone needs to figure out how to make an engaging multiplayer experience without all the bullshit that goes with GAAS games (seasons, mtx out the wazoo, fomo shit). Like the good old days back in the 90's/00's remember?
Could also have been the reaction to Bethesda's purchase. Even though that would be very late. But they certainly knew about the purchase earlier than we did.The announcement of Sony buying Bungie was made 13 days after the announcement of MS buying Activision, seems like a little bit too fast of a turnaround for stuff like this.
I think it was more a reaction to the Zenimax purchase.
Outdated pillars indeed.
Day one PC ports need to happen.
There were infinite posts arguing that the deal was one giant leap towards MS's goal of monopolising the industry and should be blocked. Who said it was meaningless? Was this an actual argument made somewhere in the endless acquisition thread? Because it certainly wasn't the consensus.
Honestly, you both aren't wrong.Nothingburger = ie. deal would not have any impact in sales balance between Xbox and PlayStation and on sub services
It seems the commies were right after all. Capitalism will always lead to monopolization of an industry. We've seen this happen in many industries before, from news media to entertainment, and now video games too. At first it always starts with healthy competitions and innovation, but then inevitably the big ones always acquire the smaller ones, and since to stagnate is to fall behind, you either roll with that endless acquisitions and infinite growth, or you lose the money game and get swallowed up by others. Government oversight and other regulations only postpone the inevitable. Xbox is absolutely massive now with Zenimax and ABK. Sony has to follow suit now or stagnate into irrelevance. They don't have enough self-developed content and capacity to be self-sufficient, in a way that Nintendo is for example.
The only solution is uprooting the current system, a world-wide proletarian revolution. I'm sorry for ever having doubted you, daddy Marx.![]()
Believe it or not Nintendo is actually 3rd in terms of profit, online is what brings the big money. This shows it's not all about console sales like many think, Microsoft manages to make more profit with way fewer consoles sold.
Nintendo is 3rd in terms of revenue but 1st in terms of profit. And a big reason for that is Sony/Microsoft reporting digital revenue in a different way to Nintendo. What's the interpretation there?
From what I recall Ps4 was the most profitable gaming console ever before Switch beat it back in 2021?
Although I guess it's somewhat old data at this point.
Ah, that makes more sense then.Nintendo is 3rd in terms of revenue but 1st in terms of profit. And a big reason for that is Sony/Microsoft reporting digital revenue in a different way to Nintendo.
So your gonna pretend there wasn't an army of PS "gaffers" in there too? Talking about how the ABK acquisition won't effect Sony and how MS are so desperate they bought a publisher? Some of you were even implying if the deal don't go through Xbox was doomed and Phil will be sacked…..Bizarrely it was MS and xbox "GAFers" like yourself calling it a nothingburger to get the deal through regulators.
The things I've told people Sony would be looking to do in the future but many scoffed at it:
Mobile App Store
PC Storefront
It's funny because I remember some of you acting like Jim Ryan was gonna ' save the day'….. look how that worked out for him…..
You want receipts? Just go back and look at some of the comments in that thread.I was laughing at the pc day one post thinking to myself "Why would Sony give up 30% of their game sales to Steam or Epic and devalue their console by releasing day one on PC?"
If Sony had their own store front it would make a little more sense, but as long as Playstation hardware is making any profit, I doubt Sony would release non multiplayer games day and date on PC. If their not doing day and date games, I don't see much use in having their own store front. It doesn't seem to be doing Epic any favors according to recent news.
