Least Favorite Superhero Movie

Probably that late 70s or early 90s Captain America

Leaning towards late 70s one because really nothing like the character.

I've seen most of them, even some of the really bad ones. I even enjoyed Green Lantern and Elektra. There are two superhero movies that I couldn't watch through to the end and gave up: the latest Fantastic 4 and Suicide Squad.

Hellboy.

I hate that movie and I hate that people constantly rave about it.

Batman v Superman. Easy.

Nothing but maybe X-Men 3 (out of ones I've seen) comes close.

If I had seen Catwoman, Daredevil, Suicide Squad, Green Lantern or Trank Fan4stic they would probably be up there too.

Suicide Squad

It's really bad, y'all. Really bad. I saw it for free and it wasn't worth my time.

And my time ain't worth shit.

Catwoman and it's not even close.

Catwoman. I haven't seen it but the gifs make it so.

There's three of us who have seen it. And trust us. it's fucking horrible. Don't even think for a second that Thor 2 or Avengers 2 or Suicide Squad is the worst movie.

That's the best Punisher movie though.

I implore you to go through your basement, dig out your dusty VHS or Laserdisc copy of this movie and watch it again. And then tell me it's the best movie :P

Actually, scratch that. There is one movie worse than any DCEU movie.

This shit is the most cold, soulless, heartless, cynical movie I have ever seen in my life. It's not even a movie, it's a powerpoint at a Sony quarterly earnings report meeting. It has no reason to exist other than to sell you on other hypothetical movies to waste your movie on. It's the superhero movie that every "The superhero bubble will burst" thinkpiece speaks about. This....thing is everything wrong with modern filmmaking summed up in 2 hours.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 has to be up there. Really fucking bad. And it was a shame as Garfield was a great Peter.

My least favorite is Guardians of the Galaxy. Maybe it's cause the family shtick went as hard and fast as Fast and the Furious but nothing I saw in it really peaked my interest. I had a feeling I saw the pure and raw "fun" folks use to describe these movies and I wasn't moved. Just felt hollow.

Batman v Superman. I know there are several objectively worse movies than it. But that movie made me dislike the superhero i've loved and cared about since i was 6.

I'd have to see a list of all the ones I've seen to really know but I assume it would probably be Suicide Squad. While BvS was a messy ass film, it still had a ton of really great moments, so I couldn't dislike it that much but SS doesn't have anything good in it.
Hellboy.

Avengers is pretty shit, quite a lot of the marvel films are pretty naff to be honest. Don't take themselves serious enough and just joke about everything.

guardians 2 is a masterpiece, though.

Another vote for Catwoman, the gifs make it look like it might have a so bad it's good vibe but it's just deathly boring outside of its most ridiculous scenes. Zero redeeming qualities which can't be said for most of the other movies being suggested.

I go with this too. From start to finish I wasn't into it.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is so forgettable that I don't even remember if I disliked it or not. Hell, I might have not even seen it, who knows.

Like...look, basically anyone who picks an MCU movie in this thread is either trolling or managed to avoid all superhero movies pre-2008. At its worst the MCU is just okay. And superhero movies spent years and years being way worse than "okay."

Of the ones I've seen, The Avengers. I still don't know the purpose of Hawkeye, Black Widow, The Hulk and Thor. Seems like Stark and Cap can just take care of everything by themselves.

Man Of Steel.
It's like it was designed purely to piss me off.

They're characters. Stories are about them. And their roles are clearly shown in the final battle.

Seriously, people, acting like Avengers is too complicated for you to parse is not a good look.

The Phantom.

You forgot, didn't you?

I never forget to SLAM EVIL

I can't even remember what happened in the first Avengers. All I remember is that they killed some alien whales, Tony saved the day and Thor is a jobber.

X-Men the Last Stand and Spider-Man 3... Both of those made me legit angry after seeing them. I was so fucking hyped for those after both excellent second movies and then it felt like I was hit by a truck. I kept telling myself it was going to be ok while watching the trailers and hearing all the behind the scenes drama, but it never panned out.

I've never seen Catwoman or Elektra, but I've seen pretty much every other superhero movie except for the made for TV Captain Americas or whatever. I know Batman and Robin and Fantastic 4 reboot are bad, but they didn't make me mad while watching them at the time, unlike X-Men 3 and Spidey 3.

The mega-hate here for Fantastic Four(2015) is laughable. It is a supremely flawed film, even the least observant of film goers should be able to spot the reshoots and troubled production screaming from every other scene of the back half, but "Worst ever"? Please.

And yeah the answer is Catwoman.

How was Thor a jobber in Avengers?

From what I've seen recently, Suicide Squad is a movie about nothing. It had no purpose other than to get that hot topic audience into dressing up as Harley Quinn. BVS was a slog and dumb, but there was some redeeming values like the fight scenes. With Suicide Squad, there is no reason to go back and actually watch it again.

Fantastic Four(the one with Jessica Alba).

There's so many truly bad ones out there. If you're going to name an MCU or Snyder film you are fucking daft. Even MoS and BvS have some good spots in there. Shit like FF, Affleck's Daredevil and Catwoman are such shit at another level.

The reboot is probably worse. Crash Test Doom

I hate the amazing spider-man films, but the thor films are probably my least favourite. Neither like/dislike them really.

And Man Of Steel is such a weird one (BvS too to a lesser extent) cos it looks so good, its a great cast, some great trailers, but the film itself is just awful.

I've not seen many pre 2008, as most of them looks shit, aside from Spider-man and some of the Batmans I guess.

Just personal opinion, I prefer some gravitas and some thought in the films. A lot of the MCU films lack this in spades and prefer to make everything a joke, now this works in films like Guardians of the Galaxy but not in others.

Looking back Avengers and it's sequel and Civil war are all at fault with this.
